When Mother Cat allows her two youngest kittens to go on an errand all by themselves, they are delighted. But as they get further away from home the kittens are plagued by imaginary fairy tale fears. Will they make it to town safely, or will they really be scaredy cats and give up before they reach their destination? An amusing story that will help children to understand and overcome their own fears.
Audrey Wood studied art and drama at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has owned an operated a book and import store, taught chldren's drama and art, and traveled throughout Mexico and Guatemala studying Indian folk art. She now lives in Hawaii with her talented family (husband Don and son Bruce, who have both collaborated with Audrey by illustrating some of her books).
When I was a kid, I loved this picture book about two anxious kittens with overactive imaginations trying to complete a simple task for their mother. While the style of art isn't my favourite, the characters are so expressive that it carries you right through. Super cute. I probably also liked it because like the kittens I too was the youngest sibling.
i have read this book with my nephew today twice. I also read when i was a small person. Two cats go for a walk into town, by themselves, for the first time. On their way, they discuss their fears and share their feelings. At the end of it, they eat fishberry ice-cream with their grandmother, who they run into in town.
