Pearlie in Paris is a pretty little book about an Australian fairy who designs clothes visiting Paris and Jardin du Palais Royal. Here she meets her host Fifi and sees all the beautiful gowns she has created in flowers.
The next morning they find disaster when a snail has eaten all Fifi's gowns. Pearlie helps Fifi alter her own collection of gowns created in Australian flowers to show the world.
The charming illustrations and layout of the book are enchanting. Wendy Harmer is a comedian and her friend's illustrator Gypsy Taylor and storyboard creator Mike Zarb, have contributed to this delightful early reader.
Miss 6 enjoyed this; I think part of the appeal for both of us was finding out that Pearlie was Australian!
Miss 6 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
A cute- as - a - button, feel good story! A ooh la la pretty French fix! Pearlie looks lovely as always and the use of Native Australian flowers with French (Fashion culture) is magnifique! Clever and creative. I'd read this again because of the enchanting words and vibrantly beautiful illustrations!
