Broken Worlds. Twisted Destinies.
A Game Never Won.

What began as a sinister game takes a twisted turn.

Violet Sutton's life takes a grim detour. Months after binding herself to the treacherous game of the Sins, she grapples with the haunting loss of Jack Marin. With her burgeoning powers unexplored, her sole focus is on escaping to her home world.

Within the city of Calesal, a power struggle ensues under Jelan Gregory's grip, exposing the truth that the very walls meant to safeguard its inhabitants have become cages of control. As she reaches for dominance, long-buried secrets threaten to shatter the city's charade.

In the face of relentless danger, Violet, accompanied by Rio and Anaya, embarks on a daring journey into the uncharted sixth realm—the realm of Greed. Here, they unearth revelations about celestial magic, destiny, and the enigmatic circumstances surrounding Jack's supposed demise.

The Sins remain unconquered. The stakes are sky-high, alliances are forged amidst chaos, and the malevolent villain, the Worldbreaker, unfolds his hand as the puppeteer.

As the story unfurls in a dance of moral dilemmas, unspoken desires, female rage, and bonds of found family, one truth the blood coursing through their veins holds both immense power and peril.

And perhaps it's a force that can unleash epic destruction.

Beware, the Blood.

To Rachel (our supreme overlord),
I don’t like you. How could you? The first one utterly destroyed me at the end and then you make me wait forever just to give me this one and make me suffer throughout its entirety. I’m in so much pain, I can’t fathom how I’m going to get out of this major book hangover.

It was very nice seeing my favorites again and god the spice scenes in this one🥵. LIKE MY GOD- girl give me a break because goddamn they were so good. Jack and violet can get it(obviously)
I don’t have anything else to say except READ IT NOW, ALL OF YOU🖤

P.S Rachel please expect that I will be continuing to harass(love) you until book three comes out🥲🖤

4.5. 🌟
So, The first book was one of my favorite books I read in 2022 so I'm very happy to have finally read the sequel. The characters are just so real and flawed it just pulls you in and the ideas in this book are so fresh and sometimes so shocking it's unlike anything I have ever read.

I really love this book and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds and what is going to happen. This definitely deserves more praise because it really does have something special!

Beware the Blood by Rachel Serrin - Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ (I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review).

In this second book of the Deadly Sins, we are brought back into the world of sins where the lines between good and evil blur more than ever.

LIKES:
👍🏾 Wow, that prologue! I loved everything about it. But the two most important things were (1) I got to get to know a little more background on our Jack that we didn’t get to see in the first book that really hooked me back into the world and characters and (2) the author’s writing was so emotionally present that it really tug on my mama heart strings with the family dynamic presented.
👍🏾 The world building. I can’t help but make the many real connections to the world of greed.
👍🏾 The characters were still amazing to me in development. Jelan is really becoming one of my favorites. As a fellow nerdy brown girl, my heart just loves everything about her. I got butterflies just hearing her talk about plasma.
👍🏾 Talks about some real life issues like addiction, religious trauma, the whole corrupt healthcare system, and more. Which got me in my feels at times. Like I’m pretty sure it called out my brother issue with Ahmad and Reed. You always expect your brother (especially the older one) to protect you and be a constant in your life. Obviously a lie if I’ve ever known one.
👍🏾 The religious aspects. I know the obvious is the deadly sins. But she also throws in little rid bits here and there like the stature stomping on the snake.
👍🏾 I’m so glad the ending had just as much excitement as the beginning for me. I feel like Violet stepping into that villain era was the perfect way to set up book 3 while finishing out this one.

DISLIKES:
👎🏾 Just like with the beginning of book 1, the introduction of new characters is a little choppy. I feel like the context is there but it’s just not presented as cohesive as I would like to make the entirety of the story for better or even some details/character background being left out because they didn’t really add anything to the story.
👎🏾 Actually, I think the whole writing was a little more unorganized in different spots this time. I had to keep reading sentences, found myself drifting off a bit when some info was presented, and didn’t really know the timeline. But as the book really took off after time first 100 pages, I didn’t really mind at all.
👎🏾 Some of the dialogue was a little off to me. It felt forced with all of the commentary like some of the cussing. It made it become this cliche for the action parts.

Overall, the Deadly Sins series is still one of my favorites but I did find this second installment a little harder to read than the first. I think it could’ve needed a little more editing and cut down some pages. But still a great series that I would recommend to all fantasy lovers!

Have to say right off the top to heed the content warnings for this one, and that this is absolutely not a book you can read without having read the first book (which is worth it, so...not a hardship). These books are chunky and there is a lot going on within - between characters and their backstories that we keep getting more info about, as well as all the different worlds. I actually had to go back and skim the first one so I really had a grasp of what was happening before I dove into this one.

For me, the strengths are the same for both of these books. The world building continues to impress me - the detail with which the author has developed each one, and the unexpected ways that each sin is brought to life is so impressive. As other reviewers have mentioned, the world of Greed was challenging to read about because of the direct parallels it draws to our own - it's hard not to draw the comparison.

The characters are continuing to grow as they go through more and more. Honestly, if you're looking for a series that focuses on a strong, morally gray FEMALE main characters, this series may be the one you've been looking for. I don't feel like we get as many women in this type of role as men, and I'm here for her! Violet was certainly a strong character in the first two books already but I think she'll be only getting more badass in the next book.

I definitely did have to give myself time to read this though - for me, it isn't a series I can binge because there is a LOT of information, and some parts were quite dense for me to read through. I had to make sure I was giving my whole attention to reading. This is adult fantasy, so if lots of world building and loads of characters aren't for you, this will be a tough read to get through. I think the unique premise and the action does move it along, but it won't be for everybody. Personally, I'll be waiting for book 3!

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I even begin? I thought book one was terrific, but book 2 was in a league of its own. There was not a single moment that I was not on the edge of my seat throughout the reading of this book except for maybe part one; with that though, book two does take a little getting into due to that, but once you do, holy hell you better be strapped in because Rachel Serrin takes you for a ride. The development of the world of Greed was insane and depicted genuine world problems. The struggles with Greed showed real-world issues. The struggles of the main characters were insane, and I do have to say that while I thought this book would be spicier, I am happy it wasn't. The overall plot was phenomenal, and I need book 3 NOW!!

Now onto why I rated it four stars. While I could not put this book down because of the fast pace of how it dragged me in, there were moments when I had to set it down and walk away because it was so dense and had a lot of information, which I do love, but at times I felt I was going cross eyes here and there. At the same time, I also feel that book two could have maybe been split into two books because of how much information there was, which is probably the reasoning behind the three parts. But that is my warning to folks, if you are not into world-building and being thrown a ton of information, this is not the book, nor series for you. However, I think Serrin did a fantastic job at the world-building and information dump, and if it weren't for me having to set it down every few hundred or hundred and fifty pages, I would have finished quicker.

I received a free copy of Beware the Blood, for exchange of a honest review, here we go…

This book was a ride let me tell you this!

It’s been sometime since I read a complex dystopian/fantasy story that had me hooked. Obviously I read Book 1 and was already possessed with the idea of the 7 sins and the whole magic system in these different worlds.

What I mostly love about this series is the parallels to our society and our everyday problems, I feel so understood with my frustration since it’s so well described, mentioned and discussed between the characters in this book. I love that this book not only has a very good plot but also has awareness to the LQBTQ+ Community, diversity, racism, sexism and more.

Ok now that this is out of my system let’s talk about the characters and the story!

It’s a huge book but I swear I devoured it, it may be a complex story with a lot of characters, places and different type of mortals/immortals that have different abilities BUT it still flows and makes you want to keep going.

It’s character driven even tho it’s written in the third POV, which gives you insides of the inner world of each character.

My Favorite Characters:

Everyone from Pharos especially Bunny and Bryce omg
Violet and Jack: duhhhh
Jeon: did I say that out loud
Lucien: I’m in trouble idk where my heart leads me
Navee: I WANT TO PROTECT HER WITH ALL MY HEART

ok I could list almost everyone but I’ll stop here, go read the book k, bye

*** I was given an ARC for the book in exchange for an honest review***

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. I fell in love with the first book and was worried on whether or not I would enjoy the second book just as much. Boy was I wrong!

I was always intrigued with the original idea of the seven sins and the magic system in different worlds. It was an intriguing concept that can draw you in and keep you hooked. I always find it exciting to discover a new and original take on traditional fantasy tropes. I adore that this book raises awareness of the LQBTQ+ Community, diversity, racism, sexism, and other issues in addition to having a great plot. However, there were times when I felt the dialogue seemed a bit forced and it felt confusing to understand what was happening in the story.

I loved given the opportunity in getting to know more about Jack's background, letting me connect with the world and the character even more. Rachel did a good job of setting up the next book in the series, while also leaving me on edge of my seat waiting for the 3rd book to come out. The last page of this book is going to keep up at night. Overall, I highly recommend this book and looking forward to continuing this story.

This book is an amazing continuation of the first book in this series. At the start at the book there are some confusing portions if you have not read the first book recently so that is something to keep in mind, this book was just as good as the first if not better. This book has a few adult scenes but not extremely detailed ones. I would say that this book was in general a slightly more serious feeling book then the first, this book deals with the alluding to SA so if that is a trigger of yours I would advise against reading this book. This book focused more on the fight against the world breaker and the fight to build a plasma shield in the first world. This book kept me hooked throughout and I enjoyed the journey we were taken on. The ending is shocking and I’m sure no one will see it coming. If you enjoyed the first book then you need to read this one. This book was full of imagery and painted a vivid picture. The writing was impeccable. Following Violets journey along side the rest of her friends and supports was an amazing experience. The only reason this is not a five is because of the slightly confusing beginning.

I received an arc in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much Rachel for the advanced copy!

This series is one that I can't put down. I binged Behold the Sins in almost one sitting and Beware the Blood was about the same. Rachel Serrin truly knows how to write a story that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Jack Marin is a top contender for favorite book boyfriend and I will read any book Rachel writes with him in it.

This series is an awesome blend of fantasy and sci-fi. The characters are very diverse and the world building details really capture the difference in each world Violet and Jack are in.

The story picks up shortly after Behold the Sins ends. Violet learns more about the Worldbreaker and that she has more to fight than her inner struggles with the Sins. Jack finds himself in the center of the Worldbreaker's universe and has to decide which side of the fight he stands on.

I have loved every bit of this series and cannot wait to read the next book.

Holy Crap... Rachel does it again...

First things first. Jack is the LOML.. like how could he not be, i literally tear up just thinking about him. This is a for sure a reread just for this man alone.

This book was absolutely incredible. I thought I loved the first but this one just out did it for me. Rachel just continues to wow me with the world building for the sins. They are absolutely fascinating.

I want readers to experience this masterpiece first hand so not too much from me this time around but know that there is so much happening from battles in different worlds and connections that can be made in our own lives.. Hello Greed... and of course Violet and Jack... Ugghhh those two.

Last thoughts: Rachel I need you to stop giving me endings like this and then expecting me to wait for the next book.. It really isn't that fair..

Okay that is all. Please everyone go read this (and the 1st book if you are just now hearing about this series because holy hell)

Let’s be real, I accidentally deleted my completed review whilst I was trying to copy it from my notes app so here we go again.

Book one was crazy and unreal. BOOK TWO?! On the edge of my seat at all times and THE ENDING? I can’t wait another year for book three.

This book is definitely one that you need to be fully immersed in because has so much information in it BUT I LOVE THAT IN A BOOK. I want to know everything and anything that I can to make the reading experience so much better.

The way the themes were developed were amazing and I definitely love how different this series is from any “mainstream books.”
It’s a first of its kind and I am so excited to see what makes next.

I will defend Violet with everything that I have and my man Jack is 👌🏻👌🏻.

After the release date, I will post a review containing spoilers because I need to talk about it hehe.

Oh. My. Gosh. I’m speechless. This book forever kept my mind spinning and racing. The ending. Ugh why why why!!! Now I’m going to be ruined until the next one comes out. A truly magnificent read and even better than the first. If you love dystopian novels and any fantasy related read you will adore this series. The plot is other worldly. I don’t know how she came up with it. Truly so detailed and thought through. It blows my mind. The world of the Sins is each like it’s own story and she wrote about 7 of them. PLUS, other worlds. Please don’t make us wait long for the third. I beg you.

Spoiler ish.

Poor Violet. Ugh Jack pushed through so hard but Violet. I expected more fight from her. I know this isn’t this end but still I wanted her to fight back more at the end. I don’t like this new her. A trained puppet. She will prevail

Holy cannoli, this book was even better than the first one!! I read it in one sitting, which is telling because it’s a thick girl 🤌🏻. I feel like everything started tying together so exquisitely and I was like “oh shiiiiii” the entire time! I seriously could not put it down. Every time I tried to so that I could do human things, I was obsessing over what was happening next!

Also, thank you for bringing back Daddy Jack! ❤️ And I’m low key rooting for a ménage to happen with Violet, Jack, and Zavar. There is so much potential for him to have a redemption arc!

Seriously, if mature, adult fantasy, with a morally gray baddy FMC with an amazing group of friends, and world building is your niche, you will love Violet and her story, especially because she is entering her villain era!

This review is based on the ARC I received.

Here is my very delayed review of this beautiful, heart wrenching book. It took me way longer to finish this book than I expected and not because it wasn’t good but because I knew early on in the book that the end was going to hurt again. I really enjoyed all the amazing world building and character building in this book. Rooting for Violet and her friends felt like rooting for my favorite soccer team. And I definitely made audible sounds any time something happened. The ending to this book hurt and yet was completely unexpected. I need to know how everything will play out.

OMG. I’ve been waiting sooo long for this book to come out! The first book left me in a pit of despair (I loved every minute of it tearing my heart up). This was such a rollercoaster of emotions?!?!! As always, Jack can still get it lol. I love the amount of battles and chaos that we got to see throughout this one. I felt like the world building was easier to understand and everything was just clicking into place for me. And THAT ENDING?! I’m so sad I have to wait for the next book again now to get more answers. 😭

So many things to try and say after finishing this book and still processing everything. But first of all- another fantastic story with interesting worlds and characters. Really kept me hooked wondering how the characters were going to get out of certain situations and the ending. I knew the ending would be something shocking after how the first book ended, but I did not have the actual ending on my bingo card. Once again a fantastic story and I cannot wait for what happens next.

This book is what I needed! After that ending in Behold the Sins I needed that being so I didn’t have to wait half the book to get answers(ahem, Zodiac Achadrny book 8). This book had the right amount of action, suspense, banter and romance. I definitely have to say check your triggers but this book was fantastic beginning to end and Jack Marin is daddy, no matter what he says about that name. I received an advance copy and am leaving this review volunarily***

This book emotionally wrecked me - I absolutely loved it! Rachel Serrin took a left turn at cyberpunk in book 1 and she absolutely floored it in book 2. I fell in love with Violet, Jack, Rio, and Anaya in book 1 and was so excited to see what they would get up to in book 2. Rachel Serrin did not disappoint at all on any front - well, almost, but I'm not giving anything away. Let's just say you may want a box of tissues handy...
If you enjoyed Behold the Sins, and like worlds that will continue to surprise you, you've got to read Beware the Blood.
