After narrowly escaping her enemy, Ali reels back from the edge of death.
She finds herself surrounded by a strange subterranean species who hide from the enslavement she just fled. Some think Ali is the long-awaited key to their salvation. Others want her killed.
But Ali doesn’t have time for life-or-death politics. She knows the Annunaki overlords have a planet-killing weapon en route. Her friends, family, along with the entire Bawn race, face annihilation…except for those willing to betray and sabotage for the Annunaki cause.
Ali may only have days to unravel the knot of doom tightening around them all. Still, she can’t escape one mounting fear: What if this threat is only a trial run for the Annunaki? What if the real target is Ali’s home, the birthplace of humanity and all the rebellion that comes with it -- Earth?

Summary: What would you do if you found out that your life and world is not what you thought. Ali had been plagued by memories and thoughts of places, people, and things she had no memory of, but things are not what they seem. Now she finds herself and her friend Daf in an underground world filled with a race, the Brawn, that are unlike anyone she has ever met. After realizing that her world Eos is habitable with a breathable atmosphere after being taught the opposite, nothing is out of the realm of unbelievable. Ali’s people were enslaved by an alien race and kept in the dark. Now it is time to change the rules and win back their freedom against seemingly impossible odds, but with the help of the Templar Knights they stand a chance of surviving.
This is an action packed and fast paced sci-fi story that takes the reader of a trip into future possibilities. The idea of being taken over by an alien race is chilling especially when the Annunaki already have a place in many ancient races. From the Babylonians, Sumerians, Egyptians, American Indians, and Aztec Indians, the Annunaki have a place in human history leaving you to wonder if this could happen?
Ali and her friends are in the fight for their lives, but there are many surprises around the corner. Ali has much to learn about her past that may change her life forever. The struggle to survive has just begun.
The second book chronicling the battle between Starship Matrona, the Templars and the Annunaki reveals secrets and intrigues, new allies and the full span of the evil Annunaki plan for their human victims. There's a lot going on in this one with several plot lines more characters than you can easily count but if you like lots of edge of your seat action Blacklash Rising more than delivers. The epilogue does offer a pretty strong enticement to commit to the next chapter, but as series go, this one does a good job at tying up the loose ends and providing you with a satisfactory ending. A good story if you're an SF fan.
Very good sci-fi with a dash of time or galactic travelling as well as telepathy and pre cognition thrown in. The human race is endangered and Earth itself is threatened by a race which has stolen humans and enslaved them. A Psy race which uses telepathy and telekinesis and a large population of Baum which is a dwarf like people also once abducted from earth are aiding humans in their battle to take control of their destiny.
It was bit challenging to keep up with the many viewpoint changes. Koda was smart and exciting to watch. Shae was almost heroic. However, the two female protagonists , Eden and Ali, never really DID anything except make themselves available and go along for the ride. I found this very disappointing.
The Annunuki continue their assault against humans, who won’t take it lying down. There were some very intense scenes, some unexpected and sad deaths, and a lot of personal growth in this story.
I enjoyed reading it, and am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Ali and co.
I was wondering how the book would go after the first book and Brandon did not disappoint. The story moved along at a fast enough pace, but not enough to lose the reader. What I didn't like was that this was to be only a two book series. I WANT MORE! The ending left things open enough, perhaps under another series name? But I can't wait to see what else Brandon has in mind. Keep it up.
What an absolute pleasure to read this next story in the saga. With so many different characters to love. And to not. Was it as good as the first? It was better! It was just like taking to the stars with Eden, Shae and
This a review of the ARC version of "Backlash Rising: The Star Guild Saga, Book Two". It looks like an update of "Backlash". It's a great story and it's represented by 62 chapters with a specific view of the different characters. I hope we will get a third book.
Space Saga. Wonderful characters come together in an epic space battle, to save earth, with many different races involved. Myths and legends are real in this wonderful story. Looking forward to more books in this series.
Stolen from her life and raised as a slave to an alien race, Ali has to find her courage if she ever wants to get back to her normal life. Fast paced with lots of action. Great second book in the series!
"Backlash Rising" is an excellent follow on to "Veil Rising" and let's you see more of the Space Templars. There are several surprises that I believe you will like and some you probably won't but they make the story even better.
This book is the second in a series. This series has interesting characters as well as an intriguing storyline. Looking forward to reading the next book
This story is, much like the first book in the series; full of action and drama. But it's also filled with the keen emotions of a race of people who have been cruelly deceived and abused by a race they barely know anything about.
Their trust in their leader, the Prime Director, has been utterly shattered after his confession concerning the actions of himself and his own race, against the humans.
The humans discover that they have been used, and deceived for generations; as slaves for this different, larger race. When the people start reacting to the News; chaos ensues and before long the humans have split into factions and have started in-fighting. No one knows who to trust. Many people are killed or wounded in a terrible civil war like scenario.
There is one scene when one of the main characters, dies horribly and the news has been shared with his crew and colleagues and I have to say that I had a real lump in my throat at that point in the book. It's so easy to become strangely attached to these wonderfully real seeming characters.
Everyone is frightened, and no one is certain of all the facts.
There are people scrabbling to take control of the Starbase. One, in particular, who is an elite super soldier, intends to take control of all of the humans living on the starbases, with the intent of murdering all of them so his masters can begin again with a new batch of humans. This new batch will restock the starbase. This is evidently an horrific, routine occurance, which takes place approximately every 800 yrs.
If someone doesn't take control and get hold of this super soldier and stop him dead... things will be getting seriously ugly!
Humanity is coming to terms with the truth that all of their lives, and the lives of their ancestors, they have been lied to and manipulated to serve these giant aliens. Now that the truth is out they finally know who has been attacking their starbases and fleet of starships.
Suddenly the things that one incredible artist predicted in his paintings, are frighteningly coming true.
This story took me on an exciting trail of legends that no one on the starbase would ever believe. The spins, twists, and turns on a pin head, skills of the author, are just so exciting to follow! What I have told you of this story is but the tip of a giant iceberg. Filled with fantastic imagery, and packed to bursting with action of all kinds, the characters, whom I came to love, became so very relevant to me.
I think if you buy this book you will be glad you did. I really, thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good, fun read.
The attempted extermination of the human race continues, only the humans now know there are other sentient races in the universe and just how deep the lies they have been told really are.
Humans also learn that magic is real and that most myths, legends and fairy tales are true in essence.
Still the same repetition of vertically opening doors and one instance of using the word pray when it should have been prey.
Still great story telling. Would have given five stars but I find the many unnecessary repetitions of 'vertically' and the same minor grammatical errors as the first book somewhat irritating.
Eden, Crystal, and Chase grow into roles of leadership as the human race attempts to fight back against the Nankuani who have kept them enslaved for many millennia. They forge a group of humans and mythical creatures into a fighting force.
This book focuses on the long and painful effort to win their freedom. The character development of the good, the bad, and the confused keeps you interested in the people as well as the adventure. Without providing too many spoilers, the ending is a new beginning and suggests many more adventures to come.
In book 2 of this series of books, we will see old hero pass on new ones come to the light. Some are shocked of what they find out about themselves and others. But the story continues to lead us forward, where I am sure new allies will be met and helped. Looking forward to the next book
