The chaotic super-team of the future must unravel a galactic mystery on two fronts: the lawless planet Tortuga and the stuffy halls of EarthGov. "Has it all...A taste of science fiction, law of physics, a tale of suspense, a humorous robot with attitude, action and a taste of sabotage to top it off!" -Comic Crusaders Collects EGOs #5-9 & 4.5

The destruction left behind by war is highlighted here. From ruined buildings, to forgotten veterans, to traumatized regular people, war leaves few untouched. Even the post-war unethical reconstruction is enough to push men over the edge. It might seem that the story is based on simple revenge, but it's in fact more rooted in the desire to punish a path taken post-war that is perceived as dishonorable.
The Commander led the Crunch War. Deuce became a hero thanks to him. Now he finally meets the man for a mission involving a planet called Tortuga where a galaxy-wide theft of funds is being perpetrated. Pixie leads the team behind Deuce's back. The good guys start their investigation separately, but find more lies than truth.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first volume of EGOs, Quintessence, and I am saddened by the fact that these two volumes are the only ones that were made before the series cancellation. That said, I was not quite as wowed by this second volume, collecting issues #5-9 (as well as the illustrated prose piece "The Cygni Letters" marked as issue #4.5), as I was by the first one. Do not get me wrong, there is more of the same goodness first introduced, and nicely integrated into a longer five-part arc, featuring a secret EGOs mission on the planet Tortuga and Deuce being asked in to assist his old hero The Commander on a case involving theft from the Quantum Trust (the galactic currency). But with the EGOs, things are usually not what they seem, and this throws the narrative into various complications.
All in all, another good instalment – and as stated, I find it sad that the series did not last longer – even though it is more of a 3.5 stars volume (though I have opted to round that up in my grading).
Easier to follow than Volume 1, this story involves the tram working in different places ot solve the theft of all finance and currency from various planets. Conspiracies abound and there is a threat to destroy an entire planet.
The artwork is more cartoony than last time and could be more finely detailed. I am not over-enamoured about this series and I am not sure that it's worth continuing it. Nothing special.
