Born at the stroke of midnight, Raven Steele grew up in a home bordering a graveyard as old as time. Ghosts became her only friends and whispered tales of a world that existed between night and day. In this place, monsters roamed the lands, magic curled in the wind, and good and evil fought over the hearts and minds of humans. Desperate to not let those dark and brave creatures be forgotten, Raven wrote down the words of the ghosts, knowing their stories of triumph and sorrow would give strength and comfort to those in our world.
And so, when the sun sets, Raven retreats to the cemetery at the edge of the woods, where she sits and listens to the dead speak their tales of Rouen and all of its inhabitants. Because one day, our two worlds may collide, and when they do, we must be ready. For when their darkness bleeds into ours, we will be fighting for more than our lives. We will be battling for our souls.
Raven Steele is a pen name to USA Today's bestselling author Rachel McClellan.
Holy Moly this series goes from strength to strength. In this 8th book of the series we are with Samira again so the book is based on her POV. With each book we get to know more and more background of each of our heroes and how they have come to where they are now. The plot is intense and there is romance, heartache, lies, deceit and also true friendship. Things are not quite as they appear and there is a series cliffhanger at the end that has left me reeling! Who can Samira trust and what of Mateo, has he survived?! I read this book in one hit, that is how compelling it was. This is not a standalone and in order to get the full enjoyment I would recommend reading all the books in order. Full 5 stars, awesome series.
Samira has been trying to keep the darkness at bay while trying to figure out a way to kill Korin and Phoenix. But she is finding it harder as the darkness has been seeping through because of her loss of Faithe. The OMG ending has her giving up something that she has sworn not to to protect her love. It has seemed like the table has turned in Korin and Phoenix's plan. I can't wait to see what happens next.

“The world of superheroes is black and white; the world of monsters is not. Sometimes you need evil to fight evil.”
A Vampire's Fury, by authors Raven Steele, & Ava Mason, is the 8th installment in the Rouen Chronicles. The first thing I should say is that every book in this series connects to the next in the series including Aris Crow's trilogy which is set in Coast City. Time line wise; it has been 2 weeks since Korin killed Samira's daughter Faithe as well as another friend in a power play to make Samira grovel for forgiveness. It has also been 2 weeks since Lynx fell into a coma after unleashing a power we haven't seen to this point.
This is a fabulous series, which is actually broken into four parts: a wolf, a vampire, a monster and a witch. The numbers of the books are the actual release sequence, which should be read that way since all the books follow the order. I highly recommend starting with the first book of the Rouen Urban Series and keeping the sequence through your journey with these mesmerizing characters, storylines and emotions. It will be difficult to put any of these books down and you’re so lucky to start at the beginning since so most of the series has been published. Once you’ve experienced this talented author’s powerful imagination and vivid descriptions, you’ll be just as addicted as the rest of us fortunate readers.
A Vampire’s Fury #8 – She is one of my favorite characters of this series; there are so many, it’s difficult to have a favorite. Well written and intriguing with a fast pace, the substantial storylines merge with the descriptions and characters to make this another book difficult to put down. There’s plenty of emotions that run the gamut and the imagination of the author brings twists and turns to the pages, that too soon run out. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
Rouen Urban Series: A Shifter's Curse #1 - Another good series from one of my favorite authors, Rachel McClellan and even and with her name change to Raven Steele, she still remains in that category. This book is fast paced, action packed and well thought out. The storylines are interesting and add twists and kinks, but keep the reader glued to the pages. There's violence but it isn't graphically gory but clear what happened; the reader still can use their imagination. Yes, vulgar language but not continuous, here and there for emphasis. The characters are developed enough for the reader to understand them and their motives. They run the gamut on personalities and types. The action has a real feeling to it, not the Hollywood garbage common today. With the author's clear, vivid descriptions the reader is racing along in a rollercoaster car that sometimes isn't on the tracks, which adds a lot of excitement to the story. I contacted the author to review her books and she hasn't disappointed me once. 5*
Shifter's Rage #2 - Ms. McClellan is one of my favorite authors and even with her name change to Raven Steele, she still remains in that category. Like all of her previous books, this is fast paced, well written with well thought out storylines, some of which are completed in this book and some that set up the next book; not a cliffhanger. Her characters run the gamut from nice to typical to horrendous, complete with their own personalities. The action scenes run true, no Hollywood silliness, and there's violence but not graphic gory, just clear cut. The reader gets the picture and feels the pain, but their imagination is allowed to exist. The author does a wonderful job with her clear, vivid descriptions. There is sexual tension and some vulgar language but not in every sentence, paragraph or page. Here and there will be a surprise twist out of the blue; there are still surprise kinks and actions, but the twists add a depth to the usual shifter/vampire/witch theme. Ms. McClellan makes her stories her own and not copies of what everyone else is doing. It is easy to get lost in the intrigue and suspense and the revenge, while still seeing good. I contacted the author to review her books a long time ago and haven't read a bad book in the last two years. 5*
A Shifter's Revenge #3 - I hope you've been reading these books in order; you'll enjoy this one a lot better if you have. I love the Ann Landers' quote, how true. This book is just as well written, well thought out and action packed as the first two. The characters are likable, realistic and grow more with each book. The fast paced storylines continue to evolve and the reader is taken on another rollercoast ride through a gamut of emotions and twisting kinks. The intrigue and the vivid descriptions keeps the reader glued to the pages and all too soon another book is finished, which is really difficult on this Shifter addict. I am never disappointed by Raven/Rachel's work and she remains one of my favorite authors; she weaves her craft so well. It is so hard to write a review since the desire is so strong to turn this into a book report, but I dislike those people that take away the joy of reading a new book. 5*
A Vampire's Bane #4 - Ohmygosh! While not quite a cliffhanger, it sets up the next book. Well written as always, Ms. Steele packs a novel full of intrigue, suspense, action and well thought out storylines. The cast of characters do not disappoint with their dialog and actions, including the new additions. The twists keep the reader immersed in the pages, along with the vivid descriptions of the author's imagination, rather a good one and my type. There's plenty of sexual tension, but no sex open to voyeurs and the vulgar language consists of one f-bomb and mild cursing - mainly thanks to one character, it's just her way. Yes, there is violence but nothing graphic; you get the idea and your imagination takes it as graphic you want it. The formula of a weakness is used heavily but that's the nature of the game. I just wish I had the next book or this one with another 300 pages. I contacted the author, one of my favorites, to review her book. 5*
A Monster's Death #5 - Great Book! A well written, intriguing suspense with a well thought out plot and developed characters. This book reminds me a lot of the Dresden Files; no, the author wrote something completely different, but the way DF evolves into a continuous story. No, Ardis is not a witch/warlock, I grew up in time when females were the witches, but he's stronger than any human because of his father's genes. Hard to describe without doing spoilers. This book has substance, intelligence and immerses the reader into a twisting tale, full of vivid descriptions, that can't be put down until it's finished. 5*
A Monster's Birth #6 - A well written, intriguing suspense with strong descriptions painting vivid pictures as the story unfolds. The characters and dialog are realistic, and the plot keeps the reader immersed until the end. This book is like AHD containing substance and intelligence. I want to tell more but this is a review, not a book report. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
A Monster’s Fight #7 – Again, a well written, intriguing suspense with plenty of fast paced action and tons of emotions. This talented author brings the storylines and characters to life as if you’re there in the midst of everything happening. It is difficult to put down any book in this series and here is another proof of that. The characters and their emotions and their dialog are realistic and substantial. It is so hard to keep reviewing such a great series because there is so much going on and it’s too easy to slip into a book report mode. I contacted the author to review her books. 5* Rouen Urban Series end.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "A VAMPIRE'S FURY" OMG!!! What a mindblowing read the best one so far Ava Mason out did herself with this storyline so much is going on. This story is full of intense drama, suspense, intrigue, angst, emotional heartache, violence, torture, deceit, twists that have you glued to page after page of this thrilling, titillating, brilliantly written story. Samira is losing control of the Kiss of the Night after the the loss of her daughter Faith and her revenge against Koran and his discusting eldest son Naburus. Briar is having a bit of trouble with Luke something is up with him he's keeping a secret and Angel has had enough of waiting in the background he always knows when she needs him his love for her runs deep. Briar and Samira who have suspected that Loxley is hiding something come forward and tells them she is 3 parts wolf, Fae and a Red Tree Witch but her ancestors went into hiding when everyone thought they'd been wiped out centuries ago so they have to keep her secret. Loxley can get them into the hidden Cathedral in the center of Hell's Peak where they think Korin is keeping the kidnapped people their turning into Hydes. Briar, Samira and Loxley enter the shield protecting the Cathedral not only do they find some of the disappeared people in cages but also the Phoenix and thus terrified them he was surrounded by rows and rows of HydeS. This is such an exciting entertaining, interesting, extremely well written storyline with the most captivating, strong, we'll developed characters along with a few new arrivals. I definitely recommend to get this amazing book so well worth the read and the ending which leads to the next book I can't wait to read is a shocker. PHENOMINAL AWESOME READ!!!!!!!
4.5 stars This is the first book I have read in the series and it is not a standalone. The books need to be read in order. There are so many different characters playing out in this book that it started a little slow but as I continued, the action picked up. Samira is having issues controlling the Kiss of Eternal Darkness after she witnessed the death of her daughter Faith by Korin’s hand and she is out for revenge. Korin seems to have tremendous power and is not acting alone. Lynx has woken up from her coma and instead of staying, her mother is forcing her to go for training at Principise Noctis to learn how to use her gifts. People are disappearing from Hell’s Peak and the Hydes. Samira learns of the location where Korin is hiding the missing people and although she does not trust the person offering help, she goes anyway. This is one storyline filled with drama, betrayal, suspense, bedlam and a whole lot more that the reader will not know what is coming next. I look forward to reading the next book but I am going back to the beginning to start the series. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
For me this has got to be the best book in the Rouen Chronicles so far. When reading a Vampire' s Bane I missed the story being from Briar' s perspective however Samira is definitely becoming my favourite character. We start to see the Samira that she hides from everyone in this book as we often see her struggling with her emotions and also see her in some quite vulnerable situations. Samira is out for revenge and will do anything to try to kill Korin for what he did to Faithe. She finds herself in some dangerous situations and has to reign it in when her actions puts those she loves in danger. It was amazing having Aris join them in this book and Samira hopes with him there they will have a chance at defeating Korin. That is until the Phoenix makes an appearance and throws their plans into Chaos. What a great ending with a complete twist! I hope it's not too long until Samira's next story as I need to know what happens now!
My girls are back! This book was the best yet! So action packed that I stayed on the edge of my seat. I love having Sammie’s point of view but also feeling like the dialogue gives me my fix for the other girls personalities. I am intrigued as to who the major players are turning out to be. I am wondering how the fae fit in the picture. I am dying to see some action between Sammie and her main man Mateo. I love the triangle between Luke, briar and Angel. I am so excited to see how bad ass Lynx is getting. There are some major new players... how is it going to end? Probably in an epic, all out brawl that I simply can’t wait to read. If you are looking for an action packed supernatural adventure, this installment moves the plot in an exciting way! I thank the author for the receipt of this book as an ARC! Give me more... now!
This series just keeps getting better and better. Samira is slowly losing the battle with the darkness within her. The one thing she’s been truly afraid of and kept at a distance might be the one thing that saves her...Love. I love Samira and her group. I felt so many emotions as they all had to battle some of their own demons while trying to focus on the bigger problem. My gut clenched throughout several parts of their journey as my mind tried to figure out what was going to become of some of my favorite characters. I devoured A Vampire’s Fury and as I suddenly reached the end I cursed myself for having finished it so quickly. Now I have to wait for the next book to be released. Hahaha. Thankfully I have other books to keep me occupied while I’m waiting.
The trouble with all these strong powerful women, Lynx, Briar and Samira is they take off with no plan out for revenge. They do not ask for help because they think it makes them look weak and it takes forever to trust and let down their walls. Once they can trust you, they will defend you with their life and rush in where Angels fear to tread. Maybe not Briar's Angel but that relationship is pretty complicated by blood and him being a vampire. I wish I knew more about this prophecy as it has only been referred to vaguely a couple of times. Samira should have told Lynx and Briar as it affects them and I do not agree with her withholding that information. Forwarned is forearmed.
Wow! Samira is determined to get back at Korin for killing Faithe. Her thirst for vengeance is starting to affect her actions and may cause trouble in the future and in stopping Phoenix. Briar tries to keep Samira on track and always has her back. Something is going on with Luke that he's not willing to share and we find out what is up with Loxley. Lynx is back and there's some kind of friction with Aris Crow and it's got one neck of a cliffhanger! Steele and Mason are doing a outstanding job on this book and series!
Will the girls prevail or is all lost. There was so much going on in this book, Samira has had more loss than she can deal with The loss of her daughter is so hard on her with korin's betrayal just add to the mix. She taps into her kiss of eternal night and lets it out hoping she can get Korin where he hurts and destroy him. This book just pulled me in with all the twist and turns and the adventure . My favorite is Briar the wolf . I cant wait to see where the next book takes us I will be rooting for the girls. I voluntarily read an arc of this book.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This story is getting better and better. Again we're reading this story through Samira's eyes. Briar is still the same smart-mouthed were she's always been. Lynx is changing into something different. Enemies are becoming allies. And the love between Samira and Mateo is reconnecting. I can't wait for the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
OMG! Samira is such a great character and the ending!! I really enjoy this entire series! Samira is fighting Korin and we still have some of our favorite characters helping the fight with Briar and even Aris! Lots of action and tons of surprises and twists!!! I really wonder about some of the characters and what side they are on. I could not put it down and I am real eager for the next book! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.
Her thirst for revenge was taking Samira to the limit and the enemy forces were more powerful each time. Intense and exciting descriptions full of strong emotions, action and suspense. Intriguing scenes that had me reading avidly with no idea of what was going to happen. Strong characters, new allies, a lot of magic, darkness, violence, mystery and a new twist in the story that left me amazed. Can’t wait for the next book! An interesting and thrilling book that I enjoyed.
I am totally in reader heaven with this series! Throughout the entire series we deal with four parts... A witch, a vampire, a monster and a wolf. This really must be read in order or you will be completely lost so start reading with book one. There is plenty of action, suspense, twist and turns, angst and drama surrounding the characters of this series, so grab a snack and a large drink and get pulled into a great story. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
No spoilers of any kind included! So this is all I’m going to say about this book and that is I thought it was awesome and I’m going to leave it at that! Ava Mason and Raven Steele are a amazing story weaving team! So much I’m always looking forward to reading more of their blended work because their stories are addicting as heck. So yep I do recommend this book or should I say this series because I love the whole series and I think you will too!
Okay so this one is a jaw dropper... Always laugh at Briars' comments, loved the fact that Aris is involved I thought that he would be move involved but I am sure it's just beginning. Thank goodness for Lynx. What's up with Luke? He's being very mysterious. Gosh I am all over the place with this there is so much to say but not wanting to spoil for anybody.
Bloody hell....this book made my jaw drop! Samira is badass plus Blair and Lynx...they are a beautiful sight! Get ready for some intensity and unexpecting behavior, plus Aris and Oz, this story will leave you begging for more!!!! The storyline is nothing short of amazing, the world building is getting better and better and the characters are badder than ever! Get ready for the heat!
Wow another stunning addition to the Rouen Chronicles!!! Seriously people you will need your seat belts on for this wild ride!! This one pulls a lot of the previous characters into the plot line which is super fast paced and with so many twists and turns you might feel a little travel sick!!! The development of some of the characters is wicked!! Its awesome!
I received an ARC and the opinions and views are my own. This book has so many twist and turns in it. Lies, deception and betrayal. An excellent read that keeps you interested and wanting more. Aris Crow and Oz have come to help Samira out. Cannot wait for the next book to find out what is going to happen to Lynx, Briar and Samira. Now there is only one person left to stop the prophecy.
I don’t know what else I can say except that this series just keeps getting better and better with every new book! So much heart pounding goodness! The roller coaster ride never ends! That ending though I need to know what happens next!!! Samira Is my favorite! I can’t wait to see what happens next in her story! So good! Highly recommend this series!
After Korin kills Faithe Samira loses it. She starts giving into the Kiss and goes further down in a dark spiral. She goes after Korin and tries to take him down but it just might take her down instead. I loved how we got to see a more emotional side to Samira even as she gets darker. Can’t wait to see what happens after that ending
Wow! Samira’s is such a strong character! She has gone through so much that she is fighting to not lose control of her gift. If you haven’t read the books in this series before this one, I highly recommend you do. You learn more back story and information on other characters as well. An amazing series, I can’t wait till the next book. I received an ARC of this book.
Holy wow! I swear this series just gets better and better. How? I don't know, but it darn sure does. You just get sucked right in, can't put it down, and want more more more. And boy does it keep you guessing! Seriously, I need the next book like yesterday. Eeek! Excellent read. If you haven't started the series, do it.
I received and ARC copy of this book. Getting more and more into the characters head. And learning more about their past. Plus lots of kick ass heroins. The more of this series I read the more addicted I become. Ava Mason and Raven Steele putting their minds together and making this amazing series is one of the best things to happen to me!!
I feel like I've been on a very scary rollercoaster! Talk about up and down's...wow! Great storyline and of course awesome characters. Good vs evil and I can't wait for the next book! Man this was GOOD!
This book had me on the edge of my seat. There is so much suspense and action in this book. It is absolutely amazing! Samira's story is just so good and yet heartbreaking. Mateo is the best. I need to know what happens next.
Non-stop action and intrigue with intense personal struggles for many of the good guys as they seek a way to conquer the greatest evil they have ever seen. Not a book you'll want to put down until you are finished, I didn't.
