Leave From Absence

I gave this book a rating of three for the effort that the author put into it and attention to detail.
The story was interesting and had a sound storyline but it got a little hard to stick with it at times as it was a drawn out story . I saw what the authors vision was, it just moved along to slowly. A + for the quality morals of the story.

Michael is a regular guy who hasn't quite figured out what life is all about, but then one day...on a day like any other day...everything changes. His long time friends Sarah and Jack are there with him on the wild ride called life. Together they discover that life is more than the humdrum activities that make up a day.

The characters were well developed. I enjoyed the way that the author's voice carried through in narration, but faded away during dialogue - allowing the characters to speak for themselves. Some authors tell, this author "showed" us through the eyes and actions of the main characters. There were some heart wrenching moments, but this only added to the storyline. This is a must read.

This is a story with which I believe everyone can relate. There are three central characters, although a great deal of the focus is on Michael. Though their situations are different, they struggle with the same things that many of us have as well - including escapism as a way to cope. All of the characters deal with the obstacles that life throws at them and prevail. Furthermore, the importance of having a strong support system - whether it be friends or family - and actually letting them help you is a strong theme throughout the book, as is the importance of personal growth. This is a well-written and thought-provoking book. Give it a read.
