Sue has been writing since high school but never became serious about it until a skiing accident laid her up for an entire summer and she turned on the word processor to combat the boredom. A couple years later, her first urban fantasy novel, Fade to Black, was a finalist in the RMFW Colorado Gold Writing Contest. By day, she’s a dedicated speech-language therapist in an inner city school district to pay the bills but her life as a writer is her true passion and the creative outlet keeps her sane.

Sue is a member of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and The Pikes Peak Writers. Her creativity extends into her garden and the culinary arts. She is the second oldest of six girls with an avid reader mom and her dad, the family’s single drop of testosterone in a sea of estrogen. Fate thought it hilarious to give her a son but maternal instincts swing both ways and she didn’t break the little bugger. She lives in Colorado with her miniature dachshund, Snickers and hears from her son, Jonathan whenever he needs something.

Everyone is back together and hiding in a new location. But when Patrick discovers who his father is he sets off some earthquakes and gives them away. From there the pace steps up as everyone tries to keep ahead of Aeros and the Primary as they try to gather enough people to stop them. But this is no simple war. Thrae has almost fallen and Aeros and the Primary are gathering their wealth to try to hide on Smara. Ian, Jaered, and Patrick have their work cut out for them as they try to figure out how to break the curse that keeps the Pur and Duach separate. But will that be enough to stop Aeros and the Primary.

This book starts with a bang and just goes from there. This is a great story yet has such heartbreak in it. Thrae is almost dead, those that fought back got sent to prisons, and not all of those that we have come to care for will make it through the battle.

This has been an amazing series. It is full of twists and turns and love and heartache. The ending was bittersweet. Although I wanted to know what happened to wrap the series up, I admit that I didn’t really want to leave this world where it was at the end. I wanted more.

This is a killer series and one that I strongly recommend. I have loved it from the first book and hated to put down the last. I can’t wait for the next book of Sue Duff’s.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

Excellent Series! The characters in this series could have been...something. I didn't quite connect with them. My emotions choked up a bit through this series, but I feel there was room to grab me more. The ending was fitting. The deaths throughout this series were realistic, in that not everyone survives a war. I listened to the audiobook of this series, the narrator could have separated the characters voices better. Overall it's a great series and I would love to read more in these worlds.
