Spirit of Christmas Present, Kentucky born Coco Baker, has just been given the assignment of her career, but she must partner with a Scottish upper class snob, who thinks he knows what's best for their living client. Despite him, she's determined to do well on this case and find out what the arrogant man is hiding.
Ian Fergusson has carefully cultivated a standoffish presence in the afterlife, letting no one get close for fear of them discovering his greatest failing in life. When he's required to work with the vivacious Coco, both his desire and his fear escalate.
Unfortunately, Coco won't leave well enough alone and to protect her, Ian finds himself forced to face his past and risk his heart and soul...again.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Arrogant and another A-word (that will probably need to be bleeped here in this review) is how this Scottish spirit Ian is known as, among the spirits. What's worse is he is a spirit that is supposed to help "alive" people and he is a lost cause....or at least so he thinks. What he didn't want or count on was being hooked up with another spirit on a mission. What's this now?? He tries as gracefully as it is known to him to bow out of this, but not happening. Now what?!?! He doesn't want to work with anyone, especially not her!
She is going to find out what her new assignment is, and she is as usual happy and smiling and enjoying "life" as it is as a spirit. When the news is broken to Coco what her assignment is, she is a little leary but willing....then the dreaded news is given....she will be working this mission with him! NO!!!!!!!!! This can not be happening, why? Why is this mission one that requires her to work with someone, and especially with Ian? She asks to be removed from this assignment to no avail....oh just great!
Ian and Coco, to say the very least, do not see eye to eye. Truth be told, they chose to not want to see each other, let alone work with them....this is going to be a disaster. Coco decides to take things in stride and pass an olive branch. Ian is skeptical....he can't help it, what has happened to him has made him so....father, loss of the love of his life, and now being a spirit that no one should like. The only way he knows to help his fellow spirits is to not let them in/don't let them get close or know anything about him. But with Coco, Ian doesn't stand to win that battle. Why is he feeling the urge to smile???
She used to own her own chocolate/candy shop and was in love with life. She does, however, have a special gift that the other spirits do not have, she can see soulmates. Not for her of course, but for the living and the passed. So this is a reason she believes she is put on this mission. She looks at "life" with happiness and caring. She has not had an easy life, but she has risen above the anger/pain/hate and made who she is with the most. She may not be happy to work with Ian, but she is going to and she will break his shell....but does she understand the undertaking of this???
Along the journey of this mission, not only are they helping their living person, but themselves....only the last part they aren't aware of really, at this point. Changes are a foot. Since this is a take on the classic "A Christmas Carole" You know some of the events of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present (Ian and Coco) and Future. They are really in for a bumpy ride. The emotions, the learning about each other, the chemistry, the sex....oh yes, this is a bumpy wild ride. Ian learns he wants Coco, he likes making her happy, he likes being happy....but will this end up like the last time? Coco learns the truth about the horrible event in Ian's life and knows he carries the guilt for this, but needs to make him see this is NOT on him.
Can they manage to help their human in her journey as well as the feelings they have for one another? Is there a break through in both of them? Can they be together? Where to begin to show you?!?! Please read this book, it is fantastic and really a book not easily put down. There are moments that you can be taken over a bit by what Ian and Coco are going through, but it feels like you are with them the entire journey.
This story is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! What’s not to love about a romance with a holiday setting?
In Desires of Christmas Present, Coco Baker is a spirit guide that is very good at her job, and she can’t fathom why her boss would saddle her with the likes of the arrogant Ian Fergusson. Their assignment is to help a young widow, Holly, find happiness after losing her husband. They must work together to show Holly that she still has so much to be thankful for and to live her life to the fullest, rather than in the shadows.
But our tag team spirit guides struggle working together and Ian’s past is haunting him…haunting him to the point he cannot deal with the present. Can Ian and Coco work past their differences and discover that it’s never too late for love? Or will the past keep them from creating a future together.
Lexi Post has written a magical romantic tale with a twist on a holiday classic. I can’t wait for the next installment!! Highly recommend!
Hoo boy, it looks as if Cameron Douglas has made a mistake this time! Ian Fergusson and Coco Baker are as different as two souls could be but he’s given them the job of guiding his wife Holly who is still living. Ian is a rigid personality who doesn’t get on with anyone. Coco is a voluptuous woman who is happy and friendly with everybody. They are given the job of showing Holly that not everything is as it seems. Holly was visited the Christmas before by Jessica and Duncan and taken back to pivotal points in her life to show her how lucky she had been to find her soulmate. Now she has to learn that understanding that and being at peace isn’t enough. She can’t keep cutting her family and friends out of her life. Coco has always thought that Ian was Sexy with a capital ‘S’ but his superior attitude aggravates her no end. Ian, on the other hand, had always stayed as far away from Coco as he could because he finds her too tempting. Put these two together and kaboom! Lexi certainly seems to find Scotsmen sexy. A cute Christmas story.
Wonderful ghostly twist on the classic " A Christmas Carol". Ian and Coco are assigned to help Holly, their Afterlife boss' wife, heal and move on to the next part of her life, so she will ultimately find her " true mate". But the kicker is , Coco and Ian are also true mates who lost out on finding love in each others arms as they were murdered before they crossed paths. Come read a sweetly written story of grief, compassion, hurt, guilt and ultimately new love. As Coco and Ian struggle with their pasts, and find innovative ways for Holly to deal with her grief, will they end up not only helping Holly have her fated future, will they also get to their Happily Ever After ? 4☆'s, a perfect story for Christmas, you do not need to have read book 1 in the series to fully enjoy this tale as it stands alone quite well. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
Cameron has once again assigned spirits to visit with his wife on Christmas eve. This time the Spirits of the Present. While he is certain Holly has learned from the spirits of Christmas Past, she still hasn't progressed as much as she should have.
Ian and Coco have very different approaches to showing clients the present, so much so that Coco finds herself growling at Ian's one word answers, which most of the time is no.
Now Coco also has another talent, she can see soulmates and what she finds with Holly is very interesting.
Much of this tale isn't so much about Holly but the spirits themselves. They too come to some revelations that surprise them.
Plenty of heat between the spirits and lots of things that have Holly recognizing things she hasn't yet done to help her move on.
I am thoroughly enjoying these spirited (pun intended) romps through Christmas visits.
A great read by Lexi with book #2 of this series. I will definitely be backtracking and reading book 1 before book #3 comes out. Based on A CHRISTMAS CAROL we get to meet 2 spirit guides as they help their supervisor's wife become happy. They also end up helping each other as they guide Holly through CHRISTMAS PRESENT on Christmas Eve. This book was given to me and i chose to give an honest review.
Even though this concept isn’t real it’s still nice. Sadness and happiness and there are still 2 more stories to read. I absolutely loved the characters and storyline so much. Trying to get someone move forward with their life after losing their soulmate isn’t easy. Though Holly says she will we’ll see. It’s nice to that one can have multiple soulmates. On to my new Vonda Sinclair Book and then back to the final 2. 🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰
The spin Ms. Lexi Post puts on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is genius. In this series, she focuses on the Christmas ghosts. The ghosts of Christmas Present, Coco Baker and Ian Fergusson are expected to complete an assignment to guide their bosses grieving wife (and soulmate) through Christmas by showing her what she is missing by not participating in the present. Their boss, Cameron has provided very little information and his wife, Holly, is expecting them. Coco and Ian have completely opposite ideas in how to proceed. Rumors that the ghosts of Christmas Past that were sent to Holly last year have completely disappeared put even more pressure on these two to succeed. Tempers flare, sparks fly, things heat up, and oh my, (fanning myself) combust. Will they succeed in their mission before they try to destroy each other? Will they figure out how to help Holly or is Holly manipulating them? This is a quick and easy read that can be read as a standalone, however, I highly recommend reading the series.
"Desires of Christmas Present" by Lexi Post is book two in the "Christmas Carol" series. This is Coco Baker and Ian Fergusson's story.
Ian and Coco are both spirit guides and get assigned to work together. Coco is cheerful and gets along with everybody but not Ian. He is a Scottish upper class snob. Ian doesn't let people get close to him because he is afraid they will discover how he was a failure in life.
As Coco and Ian work together they both discover that they have feelings for each other. Will they act on these feelings? Coco is a go getter and Ian worries about her. He faces his past and risks his heart and soul to protect Coco.
Ian and Coco are perfect for each other. I loved watching their relationship change. This was a sweet and heartwarming story with just the right amount of heat.
FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is book 2 in this magical series. Spirit guides Ian and Coco are given the assignment as the 'ghosts' of Christmas Present to visit their boss's wife who is existing but not living without him. They need to show her what she is missing out on, the love of her friends and a special man waiting for her to stop grieving so hard. Her soul mate is waiting to be part of her future. Meanwhile Ian and Coco work out they are also soul mates and due to both being killed they missed meeting in life. Once Ian let's go of his guilt in his past will they find love in the afterlife forever? This is a sweet Christmas tale, a fun take on a classic. I highly recommend reading this one for love and laughs.
I was given this book free from the author. I am voluntarily reviewing this story. I love stories that do a re-telling of a tale and Lexi Post did a wonderful twist on A Christmas Carol in that this is a story of the ghosts or spirit guides, Coco and Ian. There are tears, laughter and discovery in this well-written story. With Lexi Post's terrific direction, you see the growth between these two and continually look forward to see what will happen next between them. Although this is the second book in the series, I have not read the first book, but I enjoyed this so much, I will go back and read the first book, and I look forward to the third.
Desires of Christmas Present by Lexi Post is a fairly short read, a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms Post has delivered a spectacular holiday read with Ian and Coco's story. I read this book in one sitting because it grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the end. There's plenty of drama, intrigue, humor and spice to keep you flipping pages. I enjoyed Desires of Christmas Present and look forward to reading more from Lexi Post soon. Desires of Christmas Present is book 2 of the A Christmas Carol Series but can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this so much I'll be looking for book 1. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
This was an interesting read. Two spirit guides are assigned to help the boss' wife move on with her life. Coco and Ian don't click at first but as they move through the assignment, they learn more about each other and then sparks fly. I could not stop turning the pages so read this in one sitting. There were moments of happiness, moments of tears, and a sense that all would be fine. There is a Christmas Past story, which I will read, and there will be a Christmas Future story, which I will anticipate.
