Five beautifully illustrated spreads show a series of friendly woodland animals hiding behind bright felt flaps. A mirror on the final spread makes for a satisfying ending to the book's search-and-find inquiries. (Where are you? There you are!) A perfect book to share with very little ones.

First sentence: Where's the deer? Here it is! Where's the fox? Here it is! Where's the hedgehog? Here it is!
Premise/plot: What you should know about this one: a) It is a board book; b) it is an interactive book featuring felt flaps so you can play peek-a-boo with the characters in the book; c) the final spread includes a mirror so that little ones can find themselves d) this is one in a SERIES of books. This one is focused on woodland animals.
My thoughts: This one is simple yet fun. I love the pattern of the question and answer format. I love the repetitiveness of the response "Here it is." This is really only changed for the last spread where the answer is "There you are!" I love the fact that it's a peek-a-boo game. The fact that the flaps are felt instead of cardboard is nice. The colors are bright and bold. Overall, I think this is a good choice for parents to choose with little ones.
This is a sturdy lift the flap board book with colorful images. The child lifts a flap on each page to discover an animal under each flap. The reader is looking for an owl who appears near the end of the book under one of the flaps. The last page says "where are you?" and contains a mirror - the child looks and his/her own image.
This book is a hit for toddlers and pre-k. It is very easy to follow. It is great for a child who loves peek a boo type games. This book is a favorite - requested all the time!
Arrhenius, Ingela P. Where’s the Owl. BOARD BOOK with felt flaps. Nosy Crow (Candlewick, 2017. $9.
Five felt flaps are ready for a whole lot of tugging as baby explores forest animals. I love the felt flaps. They are so sturdy. The price is not unreasonable for a book that will last longer than more paper flap books.
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library.
He has loved his other felt “lift the flap” book, and he loves this one too! He was so excited to lift the flaps and reveal the animals. The last flap has a mirror, and he was so delighted and surprised and smiled and laughed so big. The illustrations are super cute too.
Libby loves this book. It’s the first one she has actively engaged with since we started nightly reading. She liked the flaps of felt and smiled at the hedgehog and the mirror! Cute book that I’m sure we will be reading many more times!
É uma diversão desde o primeiro momento com o bebé até ser o próprio bebé a ler e depois fazer os seus peluches lerem o que se passa. É incrível o entusiasmo que sentimos apesar de ser um livro que lemos há muito tempo antes de dormir. Recomendo
Not my favorite, but our little man at 12m LOVED this book. I think it was a combination of the "peek-a-boo" with the felt flaps. He really loved that he could pull and scrunch the flaps without it being a problem like most lift-flap paper books.
Cute enough and definitely grabs an infants attention. But the felt thats vertical and grabbed from the top falls on it's own which is disappointing. Also would be nice if there was more texture on the pages, after the felt is moved they start rubbing the entire page and there's nothing there.
The best peek-a-boo book for little ones I have found! The flaps are bright and durable and pretty much destruction-proof. My one year old has bent/ripped off the flaps of all his paper flap books as much as we try to stop him. He’s just too enthusiastic! These books with felt flaps are perfect and still 100% intact. Super happy.
The illustrations are also bright, colourful and gorgeous. They’re simple enough that little ones can easily identify the creatures, but also beautifully decorative.

Mamá says: Cute little book part of a bigger series of flap books for 0-2yr olds. Flap books can be tricky for Eva’s not-so-delicate grip, but these are made of felt and are bright fluo so they are perfect. I guess this is why finding age appropriate books does work. 😬
Eva says: The ending though... I’m going to give it 5 stars just for that. Bravo!
My 1.5 yr old loves this book so much, I think we need to buy it. Sometimes books with flaps are hard for his little fingers to grab, but since this has felt flaps, it's a lot easier and he will just sit and look through it again and again.
