I just recommended this book to a woman whose husband just died at the age of 40. She has two young children. Years ago, when two little girls lost their mother, I read this book to them, and we worked our way through its memory making pages. The topic of death of a loved one is handled so well, for children, and the author has included pages for the grieving child to fill with memories. It's honest and kind and touches on all the emotions kids can feel when they lose a parent or someone else that they love and will miss.
A friend who is also a a pastor’s wife suggested this book as a resource for our church. It’s is a absolutely precious. Helps parents with guiding a high child through the grief process and presents the promises in His word with such tender loving care. I highly recommend it. 💗
My daughter (age 7) actually picked this out at the library. It is a lovely book to help a child start to deal with the loss of a loved one (in this case her grandmother). It had sections for the child to draw pictures about their feelings and has questions that prompt discussion. One of the questions led to the realization that she's still dealing with the loss of our dog. It talks about God, Jesus and Heaven in a way that seemed to bring her comfort and allowed her to open up a little about her feelings. She's asked me to buy her and her sister their own copies, I definitely will. I would recommend this to anyone with small children who have lost a loved one.
This is a very religious take on death and bereavement. It would likely not be recommended for anyone besides families that believe in this very specific religious perspective of death. It should also not be the first book read to young children about death. The abstract nature of the religious views expressed in this book would be difficult for young children to understand.
This book is very heart warming and helps a young child coping with losing a loved one. Having a book written like this one in such a way, emotionally and mentally can help the student. Use of language is easy to grasp and at the same time helps them cope with such a tramtizing event in their lives like having to lose a loved one.
