What a delightful find on the $1 rack at the used bookstore. My 6 year old picked it out because of the girl riding a Griffin on the cover, and we are all enjoying it. It has a girl main character, a Griffin, a world of magic. . . what more could one want? They should make a movie of it, per my daughter.
