Chadwick is a happy Chesapeake Bay blue crab who enjoys a wide circle of friends—quiet Orville Oyster, Matilda (a fussy, near-sighted egret), Toulouse the French Canada Goose, Bernie the Sea Gull, and especially Esmerelda, the prettiest girl crab in the entire bay. But Chadwick yearns for adventure and decides that more than anything he wants to be a star at the aquarium in Baltimore. This is the story of how one little crab realizes a very big dream.
A very cute book clearly written by a Maryland local, about a blue crab who wants to live in an aquarium and be a star, rather than hibernate all winter. Educational, too—I learned there's a Baltimore World Trade Center (after being briefly confused when Bernie mentions going to Baltimore and flying to the World Trade Center... New York is pretty far)! The artwork is beautiful, and the story is wholesome, with the *slightest* bit of tension when Chadwick and Esmerelda get caught by crabbers! Definitely recommended for readers of all ages, particularly Marylanders (or visitors who want a souvenir)!
