Nice and basic step by steps. I was hoping for more background information and explanations on why you choose which material for your wax, pros and cons to make choices in dye and scent, wick choices... No mention was made of regular beeswax candles. Just directions for a rolled up candle from a sheet of beeswax. Seems like a big thing to miss. I suppose I should have read the title more closely and took her on her word. It is strictly a how to do it. Which is quite valuable.
This is a good book to actually make candles for the first time. There are step by step instructions for molded, poured, dipped, and rolled candles. The author also takes you through all of the tools and materials you might used and includes a tutorial on cleaning.
It does not contain any advanced techniques or much discussion on additives, other than color, scent, and stearin.
Few details. She focused almost exclusively on paraffin and gel and there was little discussion of beeswax. The only truly creative or interesting idea I saw was of embellishing wicks - I might try that.
