Features quizzes, charts and failsafe advice, from finding out if the guy giving you sleepless nights is a real vamp or a fanged faker, to great date ideas that don't involve Type-O milkshakes.
Sophie Collins is a writer, editor and resident expert on supernatural romance. Author of How to Date a Vampire, she currently lives and works in the UK.
This isn't a novel. It's like a slambook with short details about vampires and how awesome they are. I guess when Twilight came out people really obsessed over bloodsuckers. But I will always be partial to Witches and Wizards.
The drawings and designs were cute though, so I give this a three star rating.
This book was made for the vamp loving tweens out there. It tells you how to snag your own vamp. Gives you advice on dating him. There's his and her's quizzes, and there's a couple of diary entries for then to write down their thoughts.
For what it is, I'll say it's pretty cute. Its not the type of book I would've bought, even at that age, but I could picture a friend or two being interested in something like this back in the day.
Oh summer, the time of short-lasting romance. Did you know there are books that help you find your perfect undead dude? I didn't either but I got my hands on a couple of them so let's take a judgmental look at them. Needless to say they are all post-Twilight publications so they may be a little (or more) biased by that book. The first impression is: Wow, this cannot be for older teenagers (based on the word DATE I'd give it to late teens) but for kids. And if it's for kids then it is wrong on so many levels. But yeah, it is focused on high-school kids so I think the designer just didn't get the memo. Apart from the terrible graphics it is not amusing at all. I thought this book would be hilarious but it turned out to be a bore. It gets you through the process of finding your undead till the end (or never-end) of the relationship so all bases are covered. However, it is done in a very schematic way. There are some DO's and DON'T's and PROs and CONs pages, then there is a lot of quizzes to find out if you are doing things right etc. and there are blank spaces for your observations. But all chapters go like this so it may seem amusing in the first chapter but once you go through it the third time it looses its charm. Needless to say that it isn't as funny as one might expect. Plus there isn't the overlap I expected - you know, allusions. So, I don't think you would find your undead dude based on this book, sorry.
This book is so cute! :) If your looking for an actual book to read with a story line and plot than I wouldn't read this. A couple years ago I was OBSESSED with vampires and was overjoyed to find this book at my local library! It's the kind of thing to read if your bored or in a sour mood. This book is loads of fun and is over all really cheesy and goofy. Also to be honest I enjoyed looking at the pictures more than I did actually reading it. I know they say "never judge a book by it's cover" but after seeing the cover for this book I was already smitten. All the pink, flowers, and vampires was to much for the girl girl I am and before you could count to three I almost knocked over the girl in the same isle as me grasping for the book. I seem to be throwing around the word "book" alot, well I'm not being completely honest..it is technically a book but most of the book is a quiz to see what vampire boyfriend you'll get or if you'll even get one at all! On the fun-O-meter it is worth five stars.
How To Date A Vampire is one of the cutest vampire handbooks I've ever seen! It was literally like flipping through a vampire friendly magazine. I really felt like I could catch a cold one just by following Sophie's dating tips. I loved the colorful pages and the artwork was adorable! Anime seemed to be the inspiration behind the artwork which is pretty cool. Sophie presented every type of scenario with a vampire, everything from the early stages of dating to the sad break ups. My favorite part of the book were the quizzes, they were meant for us human girls but also for that boy vampire of your dreams. Overall, a super cute read and I thoroughly recommend it if you're looking to catch a vampire. Also, it's definitely a fun read that has the ability to put a smile on your face.
What a joke for a book. This book was not meant to be taken seriously, however; if vampires that were willing to date and not eat humans really existed; then this book would ACTUALLY be useful! I feel as though after Twilight came out everyone went BAT crazy (pun intended) for vampires & this book I believe was a product of that craze! Nothing interesting! I was bored & had to make up how I was feeling for those moments when you have to write and answer questions! Would NOT recommend to anyone to read; unless vampires turn out to be like Edward Cullen & glimmer in the sun.

This is a really cute book and the pictures to go with each section kept me reading! Sophie Collins did a good job with describing how to act or how not to act around a vampire boyfriend. The pictures were something that you'd see in an anime show, which is probably why I love them so much! Over all this is a really good book for teenagers and young adults who are into the supernatural vampire world!
I was disappointed with the content of the book. I thought it will have lots of information regarding vampires. I felt liked I've wasted my money and I should have purchased another book than this because it was pricey. Good and eye catching cover, hands down to it, very creative and attractive. The illustrations are nice as well as the layout. It didn't meet my expectations because I was really excited when I read the teaser. A good example of Don't judge a book by its cover.
See my review of The Vampire is Just not That Into You. I’m kidding. Seriously though, the books were almost identical. I read them back to back. They are both short quick reads. I think they took me about an hour each to read. They are both how to guides when it comes to dating vampires. I really liked the illustrations in How to Date a Vampire. They have an emo/anime feel to them. I didn’t really care for this book. The only reason why I finished it was because it was so short.
Not as impressive as I was expecting. Got rather boring at times and I only enjoyed parts of it. It was a new idea however and it was an interesting layout. Maybe it was a bit too young for me though... It was well written however and it did give good advice but I just couldn't get in to it for a reason that I can not name. Apologies to the author. -NG
It's good if you're looking for something to lift the stress off of you, especially to teens. It's insane how the vampire business boomed that they need to write a book on how to date one. Although it was difficult to keep a straight face, I won't count it as a masterpiece.
this book is not only full of vampire awesomeness but its really funny too! i would recommend this book to any one who likes vampires! oh and gr8 artwork! Now i truly know how to catch my vampire's eye! haha!
Nicely written and super-funny,with pretty awesome illustrations. Any fans of the creatures of the night are sure to a chuckle out of references from different shows and movies, and the tips on dating a vampire!
I thought I'm going to get a fun read but no. This book is serious about finding a vampire as a date. Bullshit. -_- I've read this way back 2009-10. I forgot about it until now. I've wasted my money over this.
Neat layout and idea, but I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed) it's not in magazine format. Plenty of neat topics and seems well organized, but I didn't spend time looking at it in depth.
This book would be a fun gag gift for a friend who's a fan of vampires - especially a teenage girl. It's really quite silly and ridiculous. But it was a fun distraction for about an hour.
I just read this because I'm bored.. It's okay, nothing special. Cute cover and the drawings inside.. It's just contains some advices and interest when it comes to opposite sex..
