A renowned guitar tutor introduces his teach-yourself guitar guide complete with more than 1,000 playing diagrams and an annotated portfolio of more than one hundred makes and models of guitars
In my quest to be a better songwriter and guitar player, I have read dozens of these kinds of books. I am very skeptical about books that boast such a broad payoff in the title. This work is far from being a complete anything on the guitar. There is some history, there is some theory, there are nice pictures of guitars, and even a special section of vintage guitars and amp combinations. This is basically a coffee table book. It will not help you be a better guitar player. I may help your concepts but lacks any kind of curriculum for actual players. I was hoping it would shed more light on modes but was sadly disappointed. The pictures are nice.
My copy of this book used to belong to a friend of mine who gave me my very first experiences playing the guitar, when I was about 15. It's a well-rounded introductory guide to all things guitar, profusely illustrated. History, brands, the core basics to start playing - it's all here. Dorling Kindersley was my favourite publisher for this type of guides as I was a kid, but you do eventually need to move on.
The book covers every aspect of guitar. From History to Instruction (multiple styles in fact.) Theory to Concepts. Classical, Jazz, Rock. It's great. Pretty pictures and all!
