Four friends . . . four lives . . . one decision!

Four college students, who couldn’t be more different from each other, move into a flat in Mumbai. While Varun is sloppy but lovable, Ahana is gutsy and reckless; Malvika is the group’s selfie queen and Garima is the most reserved in the group.

Yet, all four get along like a house on fire. Although each of them is battling personal demons, their commitment to the bond of friendship they have built over time holds them together. Things, however, take a turbulent turn when one of the four finds herself caught in a mess. Will they stick together or fall apart?

'You’re Trending in My Dreams' is a true story that will reaffirm your faith in the magic of love and friendship.

One of the Dumbest book that i have ever read.

Wish I could rate this ZERO stars !

Blaring a FEW good lines, This book is Utter Crap.
Total Bullshit !

3 Minutes into the book, and I already got fed up with it, wanted to throw it away. But What to do :( ... I had to finish this as I really don't have the habit of chucking away the book mid-way.

This is 2015 !! And you (Indian Authors) still keep writing shit stories like this ?

Why do you guys always write such cheap masala stories? Always including Sex,booze, adult jokes and references !! Is it a ritual that you guys follow ?

Grow up Readers !! We (Youth) really shouldn't be reading shit useless stories like these and waste our time.
Indian authors will never grow up.
The only thing that sells in India is Cheap masala books/movies. It's the only thing that fetches you quick bucks. No wonder Indian authors are so repetitive and always include sex etc in the books.

My rating - 0/5
Fucking never read this piece of shit. x(

The authors statement in the epilogue had me in splits.
" It takes hours to read a book, but months to write one "

Lol.. Trust me, Even I could write better stories than this.

Got this book as a gift from my brother. God knows why he chose this book of all! No offence meant to anyone, but the book is really sh***y. It was like reading a mash up of all the clichés in a psychology books with a back story. I never leave a book halfway, but I struggled really hard to even get past the halfway mark with this one. That's when I decided that enough was enough and dropped it.

I wouldn't have written such a harsh review if I hadn't read the excerpt from DNAindia on the book cover saying, the author 'has' taken the 'world' of Indian writing by storm. Seriously?!!! -_- The author rides the FAD of new age urban romance novels and writes few cheesy romance novels (mediocre at best) and the media writes this?!

A big kudos to the author for publishing 6 books at such a tender age. But I don't think his 'youth achiever award' was given for his writing; for, it has huge room for improvement! (Not just my opinion. None of his books have a rating of even 4 in Goodreads. There's one book with a hard 3.7 and that's that. All this with just as few as 1000-2000 ratings). Media should refrain from publicising such lofty statements that mislead people.

Goodreads should seriously consider incorporating a negative rating option in their website!

The world is a hellish place, and bad writing is destroying the quality of our suffering- Tom Waits

Sudeep Nagarkar, the best selling author (at least many people say so!) has penned down his sixth novel called as "YOU ARE TRENDING IN MY DREAMS". The novel revolves around four friends, of different personalities, ambitions and problems, who moved in a same flat. The story talks about their friendship, their personal problems and how they tackle them. The story takes an interesting turn when one of the friends caught herself in a mess. The story further talks about how they recover from her mistake.

Synopsis:

This is a story about four friends- Aahana, Varun, Malvika and Garima, who moved together in a same flat in Mumbai. All of them have contrasting family background but feel better when they start staying together. Each of them tries to solve each others' problems and in this process they come closer to each other. Malvika and Varun get engaged, Aahana breaks up with her BF and Garima as usual trying hard to recover from her past without discussing with her friends. Their life takes an ugly turn when Garima gets a message on Whatsapp blackmailing her. Blackmailer wants personal favor from her. All the friends tried to find out solution but messed up the entire situation. Finally, they solve their problems with the help of their family members, both getting rid of problems and reconciling with their respective families.

Writing Style:

Writing style of Sudeep is very simple like a typical college guy. It is so simple that it becomes boring. I do not understand why he kept on writing weird philosophies at the end of every chapter. It irritates reader a lot. metaphors are used so bluntly that readers can laugh without making any effort. at one place he has written " You can photoshop your profile picture but you cannot change your image once it's messed up". Again he writes " sometimes love makes you do things you never intended to , like agreeing to watch PS I LOVE YOU and THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS". These dialogues are used many a times and seems irritating.
Another problem with the writing is that it is written for those people who are not even going to read it. I seriously doubt if the class of people depicted in the people are actually going to read these books ( personal opinion guys).
another problem is about the title. This is the first book whose title has nothing to do with the content. You are trending in my dreams?? Not at all relevant to the story.
None of the characters have been established properly. Plots are so simple and amusing that you will that you are watching any B- Grade movie. Sex scenes have been described in a disgusting manner, as if readers have bought this book to read soft porn book. Words like Chu**ya and bh****od have been used without nay relevance.
Boozing, partying, making fun, pranks and all have been justified so easily through this book.

Verdict:

It is a book which has disappointed me heavily. It was my first Sudeep nagarkar book and i was freaked out literally. If you want to save your time and money, do not buy and read it. Sudeep has to introspect on this novel. Very hilariously irritating and boring book.

Courtesy:

Thank you Sudeep Nagarkar and Random House Publisher for giving me opportunity to read and review this book. Thanks Kirtiman for lending this book. I am sorry that i made you buy this book. :P

Sudeep Nagarkar is now 6 books old in his writing career of 4 years with his latest release "You're trending in my dreams" which has already hit the Bestseller chart and has become his one of the best openings in terms of pre-order and initial sales. Penguin Random House had added many romantic writers in their list of annual releases some 3 years back and since then, each author co mes out with a novel every year. It has become more about marketing propaganda than quality for which these big publication houses are known for. Sudeep Nagarkar had improved with time as a writer and he had finally started writing mature stories based on youth but I think the target given by publishing house to complete the book by a particular deadline are making these authors write a story in a go without giving much research and time to overthink and make it better. YTIMD is the big example of the same. It stands no where even if compared to Sudeep's first book as a writer where he has scribbled his own story without much creative inputs.

The ratings that I have given to Sudeep Nagarkar in order of his releases are as follows: 3, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 3.25 which shows that he had almost become stably good in his performance with each book but I am very scared to even talk about his new release as I never believed it could be so plain with no great story, no memorable characters, no great twists and turns and no great climax which can either make you emotional or shocked or glad. It is very childish and written similarly as a junior college student writes his personal diary with few poems, few philosophical sentences which are cliche and known to everyone, talks on how girls are treated like an object etc. I have always liked an ability about Sudeep of picking up a location and doing pure justice with it and also describing the youth as similar as possible as they really actually are. This time he picked up Navi Mumbai and didn't discuss it quite well and also, the characters aren't built keeping the location in mind. It looks as if it's about the crowd from Lower Parel or Churchgate and not from Navi Mumbai where boys and girls still aren't that modern to share a room together.

Initially, the book picks well and the way it starts, it seems as if Sudeep is going to deliver another great story but the way it becomes quite obvious after a point of time, it starts irritating a fan in you. Finally, the main twist arrives and the book does get better but again, how easily the whole issue is handled becomes the drowning point of this story. I didn't feel as if Sudeep have written this story. Seriously! As I have discussed above, I feel publishers should give time to these writers who are actually making Indian youth read month after month rather than giving them targets like releasing a book every 8th month or so. Give the author plenty of time to research, prepare, write, edit, write, edit and finally review his work, share it with his close friends, get their reviews, again edit the story and build the final manuscript. I give this book just 1 star and I wish Sudeep bounces back with his next book as a fan in me is largely disappointed this time. I am waiting for one of my favorite authors to write better than his best work till date.

Thanks.

Title is catchy and so the cover, might grab your eyeballs at first-account.

It's the story of four friends. The whole story revolves around their lives. Right from prologue, author hooks you thoroughly, without a doubt.

As story further moves, satires and gossips make the reader laugh though for a while. What a reader wants - an engaging story. Needless to say, author has woven words delicately, keeping the reading pleasure afresh.

However, at times you might struggle connecting with the characters' ideal traits and their activities. And so, certain things actually don't click or connect. In the last half, occurence of events are too fast, leaving the reader confused. A lot could have done better by slowing down the pace and by colouring the events in more refined way.

So the final ordeal. If you're looking to read a book on friendship, for sure, it's a charming gift awaiting for you to be read.

One of the crappiest books I've ever read. The plot's weak and predictive and it looks like the author wants to write cheesy lines and lame philosophical sentences more than about the actual story. It sucks even as a book for teenagers. Surprisingly, it's worse than any Chetan Bhagat novel, and probably that's the only claim to fame that this book can achieve.

What's good:
I read this in one sitting.
...
Yeah I can't think of anything else.
What's bad:
Everything.

The random philosophical lines thrown in don't fit most of the time sent me (and my friends- as I read the entire thing in class) into fits of laughter, so there's why I felt generous and gave it two whooping stars.
The English in the book was just okay, except for the dialogue.
"such an ass you are" amongst many other lines, had me cringing. What also bothered me about the dialogues were how long the replies sometimes were, like this time the friends are at a hospital and one girl just talks without interruption for two pages- keep in mind that no one even asked for a story in that instance lol
Even chetan bhagat writes better... Wow I didn't think I'd ever say that XD
If books like these are his competition, it's no wonder why he's considered the best Indian author for the horseshit he writes I can't help but think.

"You Are Trending in My Dreams" by Sudeep Nagarkar is a captivating exploration of the enduring bonds of friendship amidst the complexities of modern life. Set against the backdrop of bustling city life, Nagarkar weaves a tale that resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.
The heart of the story lies in the profound friendship shared by Ahana, Garima, Malvika, and Varun. Despite their initial connection as chance flatmates, their relationship blossoms into a remarkable bond built on mutual respect, understanding, and unwavering support. Nagarkar skillfully portrays the essence of true friendship, highlighting its rarity in a world often plagued by selfishness and self-absorption.
As the narrative unfolds, the friends find themselves entangled in a perilous criminal trap, testing the strength of their camaraderie. However, their unshakable belief in each other serves as a beacon of hope, guiding them through adversity. The pivotal role played by Varun's strict yet loving father adds another layer of depth to the story, underscoring the importance of familial support in times of crisis.
Nagarkar's prose is both evocative and poignant, effortlessly drawing readers into the lives of his characters. The rich tapestry of emotions woven throughout the narrative ensures a truly immersive reading experience. From moments of joy and laughter to the gripping tension of their predicament, each scene is imbued with authenticity and heartfelt sincerity.

You're Trending in My Dreams: A coming-of-age story about friendship, love, and self-acceptance

Are you a fan of love stories and romantic movies and also if you're looking for a heartwarming and relatable coming-of-age story, I highly recommend You're Trending in My Dreams by one of my favorite author Sudeep Nagarkar.

The book follows four friends who move into a flat in Mumbai. Despite their differences, the friends are inseparable. They support each other through thick and thin, as they navigate the challenges of young adulthood, such as love, friendship, and career.

Nagarkar's writing is both lyrical and evocative. He creates vivid scenes and emotions that will stay with you long after you finish the book. The characters are also incredibly well-developed. You'll feel like you know them personally, and you'll root for them every step of the way.

One of the things I loved most about the book is the realistic portrayal of friendship. Nagarkar captures the ups and downs of friendship perfectly, showing how important it is to have supportive friends during difficult times.

The book also has a powerful message of self-acceptance. Nagarkar encourages readers to be true to themselves and to not be afraid to follow their dreams. last but not the least the poems in between the stories make this book more enjoyable.

Overall, You're Trending in My Dreams is a must-read for anyone who enjoys coming-of-age stories, love stories, or simply well-written fiction. I highly recommend it and also giving five star rating.

I loved the book so so much ..Every chapter had a thing in it..
This is not a love story; it’s a story of lost innocence and teenage heartache in urban India. Often, depression overwhelms your heart, but you can’t fix everything that goes wrong in your life. Sometimes you just have to make the best of the situation and move on.

Varun, Malvika, Ahana and Garima were indeed soulmates. Soulmates are not necessarily people who are in a romantic relationship; they are people who love each other and accept each other in spite of their shortcomings. They are people who bring out the best in you! Together Varun, Malvika, Ahana and Garima had proved their innocence. Now they could live life on their own terms—ready to face the challenges that the new day would bring with it. There are endings, but the stories continue . . .

Once in a while something or someone special comes along. This is when it’s time to decide if the risks in life are worth taking. For them, the risk was worth it!

I don’t know how to exactly share my thoughts about this book. If this is what you call writing, maybe I am a writer too and that too a better one. I found myself skipping lines and then paragraphs in between just to get over and done with this book. Why on first place is the book titled “You’re trending in my dreams”? What’s the story all about? Why is it suggested to succumb to a blackmailer’s demands when India has proper and good women help. Why is Army and Army men called losers? Why only approach parents when you are in deep shit? Why not talk to them and share your thoughts, problems with them everyday? And the extensive use of “f***” and “bi***” Was it all required?
What I have learnt from this book is - Nothing.
What I have lost reading the book - 12 very painful days.

It's a good as such, more over the way he has put the words so simply and carved the story.
Good for me because I read it in one shot, really entertaining.

Best part about this is the importance of relationships and friendships, I wish every buddy should have these friends. But some don't have, that's why some people won't find this book attractive sometimes.
I feel the way all four developed the faith in their life was rally amazing. People can take at least some good lessons from this book if they are looking for.
As title says the book was completely different, that why I read few pages and left it when I finished it.

Amazing book , loved it brilliantly portrays the lives of four friends and their life their challenges and the decision which changed their lives knowing ecah other more being the bestest friends forever. A rollercoaster journey, even though the name if the book doesn't have any relation with the plot the book is just amazing for teens and adults as teens will undoubtedly wait to have a future like this whereas the adults can enjoy more cgerish the book like nothing but evrything. The author gave heart to the book and i loved it so so much. Highly recommended

The book is a masterpiece showing true love and unbreakable and loyal friendship.
The humour abtd the sad scenes both are very well written let alone the romantic scenes. If you are looking for a good book then this is it. Though the story line contains some twists , it is quite predictable. But of course reading it is fun and worth your time.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Yes! the title is completely different from the insides. But in the end, it is a good read over the weekend. The characters are built in a nice way. But I think Varun's dad's character is pushed and involved forcefully into the story. Other than the Title, I have been satisfied and happy reading this book.
