I just finished this book and had to write my review. I was honored to receive an ARC copy of this book from the author.

I really connected with Emma, the main female character. I am the type of girl who is more comfortable with guy friends because I love beer and sports and just hanging out just like Emma. I have my girly side just like Emma. There are a lot of things Emma did and said that I could relate with. I think that a lot of readers will be able to connect with Emma and her personality. I cried with her and was so excited with her during different points in this book. I could feel her enthusiasm and pain.

Shane, Tyler and Rob are the 3 best friends anyone could ask for. They are there every step of the way and no matter how hard it was on them, they stuck by Emma's side. Each one has there own place in Emma's life.

The love story in this book is so sweet. You feel for the two characters and what they go through. Timing is sometimes everything. Life can be difficult if you let it pass you by and just stand on the sidelines, but everything happens for a reason.

This is a story that I think readers will definitely connect with the main characters. I think just about anyone who reads it will be able to identify with some part of the story and at least some of the feelings that are going on. I highly recommend this read if you are looking for a great true love story that also has the drama everyone likes.

What is perfection? Does it even exist? Is it attainable? Millions of people spend countless hours in search of something perfect. Perfect dress, perfect shoes, perfect haircut, perfect job. But mostly we spend our time searching for the perfect partner. We all crave someone to share all life’s experiences with. Someone to grow old with.

Imperfectly Perfect was a fun read. Kind of a New Girl feel to it. Emma is a girl living in a boy’s world. She has three close friends, Shane is her rock, Tyler is like her big brother, and Rob is like her little brother. They all had clear personalities, and a fun repertoire with each other. You can tell from page one Shane is head-over-heels for Emma, even before he realizes it himself. I most enjoyed the friendships playing out, they all meant so much to each other. The adventures were EPIC. I wanted to go out with Tyler and Rob especially!
So Emma is finally figuring out she’s ready to settle down, she’s got her whole career in place, she’s got the itch for the more in life. She currently has a whole life setup with her best friends, especially Shane. On a whim, she decides a little speed dating would be a super great idea, cue to hilariousness! But this fun night quickly turns into more when she meets hottie-doctor, Bradley. Bradley has it all, an excellent career, great home, and is ready to fall in love, and falls hard and fast for Emma, but we all know that means the Shane isn’t going down without a fight!
So, my rating is for a couple of reasons, first, it was fun and light. It’s not a story you’re going to need to re-read or add to a favorite list. It’s a fun day read that I see as being more of the filler you need between the difficult books. I had a hard time with Emma taking so long to see the love Shane had for her. Yes, I know she had the hot doctor, Bradley, but Shane still felt like the right choice. The love triangles need to both make sense, at least for a short period of time, and Bradley just didn’t do it for me, he was too mono-tone. But it did give the angst I was craving.
I will be reading the second in the series, I think AE Woodward shows potential, and this was great for a first novel. I look forward to Rob and Tyler’s stories!

I was one of the lucky individuals to receive an ARC for this novel and am I ever so happy I was on the "lucky list!" :)

Imperfectly Perfect is indie author A.E. Woodward's debut novel, and it's very safe to say she nailed it. Front cover to back cover and everything in between, this novel is truly one of the best debut novels I have read in a really long time.

I am a very big fan of books that grab me from the first few pages, and Imperfectly Perfect delivered in that respect. Believe me when I tell you I had a horrible time bringing myself to turn off my Kindle and get some shut-eye - I was just that invested in the characters, their trials and tribulations, and their collective story.

Character development was top-notch, and truly couldn't have been better. Even Woodward's secondary characters seemed to take on a life of their own and made me want to know more as I feverishly swiped page after page. Emma was a very well-written character, but she honestly wasn't my favorite ~ Shane became my new book boyfriend (sorry A.E., you DO have to share no matter what you say), and Tyler and Rob remind me so much of some guy friends I've had along the way. The characters in Imperfectly Perfect are very believable and easy to identify with.

The storyline and plot...perfection in page form. Seriously speaking. It's always nice to read a novel that leads you to sit back and say "Yup...so been there and I'm hearing you." Imperfectly Perfect was that sort of novel for me ~ it made me laugh, cry, giggle, and quite literally sit upright in bed and yell, "Holy Heck!!!" at one point. The flow of the book was very smooth, and I didn't get the feeling the author was rushing to the finish line, as many tend to do. The pace was, well, perfect.

When I finished reading the last page, I was a little sad to think there would be no more Emma, Shane, Tyler, and Rob. It was truly a sad moment. Words cannot describe how overjoyed I was to find out Imperfectly Perfect is the first in a "Series of Imperfections." I'm very excited to read more from this talented and marvelous author!

If you are looking for a fun, easy read and a book you can get lost in, then Imperfectly Perfect by A.E. Woodward is the book you need to read next. Go buy it already! You won't be sorry. :)

A little far-fetched but still fun to read romantic romp. I found it a little difficult to bond with Emily, who just seemed to carry a little too much baggage without much substance.

IMPERFECTLY PERFECT is pure perfection. This book got me hooked from the first page till the very last one. It is a little bit different from the other NAs I have read, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for!

IP tells us the story of a Emma and her three roommates: Shane, Rob and Tyler. They live in NYC together. Yeah, that’s right. This blondie girl lives with three gorgeous men in a flat for over eight years. The thing is, Emma is almost thirty and she doesn’t have a life of her own yet, no man, no babies. Even though her family is always on her back, Emma doesn’t mind living her life the way she does. At least Emma thinks she isn’t bothered, because she is for sure. So she starts the searching for her future husband.

My life is great, but maybe I want a perfect life.

Meanwhile, Shane –her-best-friend –and-so -sexy -roommate- has a big revelation: he is IN LOVE with Emma, the beautiful girl who is also his best friend for life. Shane is always there for Em, whenever she has a hard time, whenever she needs a shoulder to cry on. Their connection is special ♥ And that’s why this stubborn boy decides to let her live her life with Bradley, the guy Emma is dating.

Emma’s relationship with this guy doesn’t last too long because the douche cheats her with her secretary from work, Ginger. The story continues with the fact that Em realizes that she LOVES Shane and she can’t live without him. THEY ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER ♥ They still have to surpass some obstacles (and of course I won’t ruin you the pleasure to discover for yourself), but in the end life will make them a BIG and CRYING surprise<3

This book is a MUST READ! The plot is way to cool, the characters are funny and just…perfect (+ hot and cute romance). You have to love Emma (she is a little annoying sometimes and by the way, I didn’t like some of her actions), she’s utterly gorgeous and she always has this attitude that SCREAMS:

 photo tumblr_mlfiilb6xX1snckw0o1_500_zps0668122b.gif

The boys are great too, especially sexy Shane. Rob and Tyler are more like her caring brothers.

Each of my boys filled their own role in my life. Rob was the crazy asshole that I did dumb shit with. Tyler, being more of the brother type, was always up for a little mischief. And Shane… well Shane was just there through it all.

Can’t believe this beauty is over, Ashley writes like a pro *go Ash* and I seriously can’t wait to read more books written by her. So guys, go ahead and buy/read/love IMPERFECTLY PERFECTION, you won’t regret it!

This book initially really irritated me. The characters despite being near 30 in high profile jobs (two of them were lawyers) seemed to go painting the town red on a regular basis. I think this was why I found it hard to relate and care about the characters and where their lives were headed.

You have Emma, Shane, Rob and Tyler who have been a group of friends since college and have since bought a condo together. Emma is approaching her 30th birthday and a piece of news from her younger sister has her rethinking the way her life is headed. This news also causes Shane to realise that he is in love with Emma and has been for a while.

On returning home instead of Shane admitting his feelings to Emma a whole host of arguments and angst ridden situations occur, Emma meets Bradley, moves out of the condo, moves back in, discovers health problem, etc. All in all I just wanted to bang their heads together (all 4 of them not just Emma & Shane) and shout grow up! However the last part of the book redeemed this story for me earning it an extra star. To be honest I was just glad the character Shane finally grew a backbone and admitted how he felt!

It's worth a read if you like a story that isn't far fetched and isn't filled with billionaire bachelors.

Imperfectly Perfect is A.E. Woodward's debut novel. I think she did a very good job with it. The story flows smoothly and she makes you fall in love with all of her characters. You can relate to the characters and I felt like I knew them.

Emma and Tyler met at a very young age, when Tyler moved across the street from where Emma lived. They hit it off immediately. Tyler was like the brother that Emma never had, they were inseparable. Shane became friends with Tyler, thereby becoming friends with Emma. The three of them were best friends, they did everything together.

Emma, Tyler and Shane attended New York University and met Rob who also attended the University. Rob became the 3rd guy in this friendship. The three guys were Emma's best friends, her world. After graduating from college the four of them purchased a condo in New York City and all live together. They love to party, drink beer, dance, and hang out. Being single in New York couldn't get any better for the four of them. Emma couldn't picture a future without having Shane, Tyler and Rob in it.

Emma returns home for her parent's anniversary party and her younger sister makes a big announcement. Emma doesn't want to be jealous of her sister, but Emma feels like it is time to grow up and she needs to make some life changes. Emma wants more, she wants the husband, the house, the white picket fence, the kids. The only problem is, she doesn't have a man. Emma decides to drag the guys to a speed dating event. The guys are not happy when they find out she tricked them into attending it with her. Emma had a plan, she needed to find a man, not just any man, but the perfect man.

Emma starts dating Bradley and she thinks all is well. Little did she know it wasn't. Something seemed to be missing. It's hard to give your heart to someone fully, when someone else already has it. The question is, who has Emma's heart? When Emma realizes who is in love with her, does she feel the same way? Is there such a thing as a soul mate? Was the perfect man that Emma was searching for, been under her nose the entire time?

Emma says it best...

"This is the story of how I found my perfection. The road to where I am now was treacherous and bumpy, and far from perfect. And while my life may not seem desirable to most, I realize now that that's what makes it special. Things are perfect only in the eye of the beholder. It's the uniqueness that drives us. Life isn't about what is perfect for everybody else; it's about what is perfect for you."

I really enjoyed this story. I loved all of the characters, they all had a role in this story. Rob had me cracking up on numerous occasion with his smart ass comments. Shane was always there for Emma. He was her rock, her best friend, her shoulder to cry on. Shane and Emma knew how each other felt sometimes without even communicating. As Emma said, "You'll always be my favorite." Tyler was very loving and nurturing as well. All of the men had a special role in Emma's life. One could be so lucky to have friends like Shane, Tyler and Rob.

I would recommend "Imperfectly Perfect" to anyone who is looking for a good love story and a story about the bonds of friendship. The only negative thing I can say about the book is, I wanted more sex in it. The characters were single and 29 years old, I guess I just expected a little more than what I got. Other than that, I didn't have any other complaints.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

***I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

When I started reading this book the 1st thing that come to mind was that it reminded of the US TV show New Girl as Emma is living with her three best friends who all happen to be guys, and as I love that show I was looking forward to reading it as I had the feeling it was going to be a fun read, and it was.

"This is the story of how I found my perfection. The road to where I am now was treacherous and bumpy, and far from perfect. And while my life may not seem desirable to most, I realize now that that's what makes it special. Things are perfect only in the eye of the beholder. It's the uniqueness that drives us. Life isn't about what is perfect for everybody else; it's about what is perfect for you." ~ Emma

Emma has always been happy with the way her life is and they way its going. She’s single, has a great job and lives with her best friends Shane, Tyler, and Rob. But after a family party, where her little sister makes a big announcement Emma realize that maybe she is not as happy as she thought.

“My life is great, but maybe I want a perfect life”~ Emma

Emma will be turning thirty soon, and decides that she wants to get married and have babies. So Emma set out to find her Mr. Perfect, her future husband,

“I had a plan. I needed to find a man, and not just any man; I was going on the search for the perfect man.”~ Emma

I like Emma she could be a little annoying sometimes, but she was fun, confident and independent, and when she had an idea in the head she went with it, which leads to some funny night outs. Unbeknown to Emma her Mr. Perfect her future husband is a lot closer than she think she just hasn’t realized yet.

I loved the friendship Emma, Shane, Tyler, and Rob shared they were all very closed, and truly great friends. I love the banter that they had. They all are sexy with different personalities, and her relationship with each one is very different, but each is equally important to Emma. Shane, Tyler, and Rob are all fiercely protected of Emma. They had some great times together, and some of their antics made me laugh.

“Each of my boys filled their own role in my life. Rob was the crazy asshole that I did dumb shit with. Tyler, being more of the brother type, was always up for a little mischief. And Shane… well Shane was just there through it all.” ~ Emma

I enjoyed this book, I had a feeling how the story was going to play out in the end, but I really didn’t mind as I enjoyed reading Emma’s journey to get her happily ever after. I am not going to say what happens, as I don’t want to spoil for you, but if think of Rachel and Ross from friends you will get the idea.

Overall I would say that Imperfectly perfect was a fun easy read that I didn’t want to put down. It made me laugh, and smile many times. The romance was cute, and it had a bit of angst. I would have liked a bit more smut, and I liked the last part of the book, but I did feel it was a bit rushed. However, with that being said this was a great for a first novel by AE Woodward, I like her writing style, it had likeable characters, and I was hooked from the start. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Imperfectly perfect get 4 stars from me.

RATING CLARIFICATION :: 3.5 STARS

Review also posted at www.bookbitchesblog.com

Let me start off by saying that I did like this book but I didn't love this book. I thought for being a debut novel it was very well written, but it didn't have that WOW factor that I look for in a 5 star read. I guess my biggest problem was that I had a really hard time connecting with the characters. I did really like Shane, Tyler and Rob, their friendship with Emma was great. One thought I had throughout this book was that I felt like I was reading Emma's journal with little snippets of Shane's POV mixed in. The last 25% of this book really saved it for me, that is why it got a 3.5 stars. I really wish what we saw in that last part of the book would've come out sooner.

The first part of the book was really all about Emma and the guys and what their life was like, then we get to about the 30% mark and Emma has a revelation about her life and decides what direction she wants it to go in. So at that point she drastically changes and is all about herself. I felt that her relationship with Shane, Tyler and Rob really fell by the wayside once she meets Bradley. I will say that I didn't like Bradley at all, he totally gave me the creeps from the start. Emma was a totally different person when she was with Bradley, she was really willing to give up her closest friendships for a guy she just met. I had a real problem with that, plus if she had such a great friendship with Shane, Tyler and Rob....why couldn't she talk to them about it. What also bothered me was she was so quick to move forward with Bradley even though in the back of her mind things weren't feeling right to her. She was just so stuck on proving to her mom and sister that she could have what they had. Then when something happens with Bradley, I finally thought YAY!! Shane will finally speak up. Nope, it got dragged on longer. So by the time Shane's feelings are brought to light everything seemed kind of rushed. It almost made it unbelievable. I believed Shane's feelings for Emma but Emma's turn around was a little hard for me to believe.

Now Shane, I thought was a great character, but he was so stubborn. I get that he just wanted Emma to be happy no matter who that is with, but I wish he would've fought a little harder in the beginning when Bradley was in the picture. I loved that Shane was Emma's rock throughout their lives, he truly loved her and was willing to do anything for her.

Tyler and Rob were also really great characters, they added some much needed comic relief and support to both Emma and Shane. I loved that they were willing to stick by them no matter what happened. They are truly great friends!!!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a friends to lovers story, with a little drama and some angst thrown in.

Imperfectly Perfect was an alright read. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. I did really like the ending and how this was not the normal romance in a lot of ways. I like that Emma did not have the "normal" happily ever after in a lot of way, but it works for her.

Emma, Tyler and Shane have been friends forever. In college they added Rob to the mix and the four of them live together in New York. They are happy with their arrangement and none of them can imagine doing anything different. Sure lots of people don't understand why some almost thirty somethings are still living together like college kids, but it works for them. At least it does until Emma realizes that she might actually wants parts of a normal life.

When Emma goes home for a visit she learns some things that make her realize even though she is happy with where she is and what she is doing, there are some other things that she does in fact want out of life. Some things she never really considered before. So when she gets back she starts to try and find the things she is missing.

While she was gone one of the boys realizes some things as well. And when Emma gets back he tries to talk to her. Unfortunately she doesn't want to talk and before long it is too late for him to tell her what he wants to. It was interesting enough to read I guess, but they way it was written didn't really drawn me in that much. It was like I was just observing people I didn't really care about. One thing that was a bit perplexing to me was apparently Emma only ever dated guys who cheated on her. Ever. She says something early on like after the seventh or eighth time it happened and I was just like what? Really? You are obviously terrible at picking guys cause that is just a bit crazy. Oh well, she seems fine regardless of all of that. There were no issues with her trusting guys or anything even though she has only been with people who cheated on her.

Things do work out in the end, and like I said above I liked that everything didn't change just because a few things did like I was expecting. An alright read, but nothing about it really pulled my into the story. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either.

This story reminds me a lot of the show 'The Big Bang Theory'. You have a kick ass blonde that lives and hangs out with three guys. They do everything together, which makes it hard for anyone to break into their circle. The guys were definitely not as geeky as BBT, but they were adorable.
I really enjoyed reading about all the traditions they had together, and how they took care of each other. The author spent a lot of time giving you background and making you connect with the characters. This has become somewhat of a lost art as of late. Everyone wants to get straight to the smut, but I need to be wined and dined a little first. Call me old fashioned.
There was enough angst and unrequited love to keep me turning pages deep into the night. Any book that can do that is a winner for me.

The things keeping this from being a 5 star for me:
The smut factor is a little low. I like my books a little more smutty, but that's just my taste. The characters were late 20's, and for that age group there should have been a lot more action. If the characters had been early 20's it would have been more believable. I do respect that Woodward didn't sacrifice the story just to make it smutty though.

I wanted a little more insight into what life was like for Shane and Emma in High School and College. There is a little bit in the beginning, and glimpses every now and then, but I would have liked more.

So there you have it, I liked it, and will definitely read the next ones in the series.

For a debut novel A. E. Woodard did a wonderful job with Imperfectly Perfect. This story is sweet, heartwarming and smart. At times I would get frustrated because you could just tell Emma and Shane were just meant to be together. But rough out their bad decisions and you will not be let down.

Imperfectly Perfect is told from alternating Point of Views of Emma and Shane, although I do believe there could have been more of Shane's POV.

Shane, Tyler and Emma have been best friends since they were children, doing everything together. With the addition of Rob while at NYU playing soccer their group was complete. Living together since their college year the foursome thought they had the perfect set up, that is until Emma returns home from a trip home to Maine and realizes she wants more. More than a life with her three bachelor best friends, Emma wants the husband and the family. So she starts looking and quickly finds Bradley. Bradley appears to be everything Emma wants but things are never perfect.

I really enjoyed this story especially with the alternating pint of views of Emma and Shane. The fact that this is a story first and foremost about friendship and how hard it is to transition from youth to adulthood made it really appealing to me. But the slow development and transition of Emma and Shane's relationship is what really cinched it as a must read!

Another book that I wanted to like... really and truly... but COULDN'T.

First, the author has no concept of comma use. The entire book - it drove me absolutely insane. If you can't write, *don't*.

Second, the characters are supposedly big-time lawyers and advertising execs in NY, but they act like they're thirteen years old. They scream at each other, dance around their apartment (three of them are GUYS), are all about go-carts and racing each other and... it was really, seriously juvenile. There wasn't a single admirable thing about any of them.

Third, the heroine is... *forced* into her conflict. The author wants Emma to start thinking of the future, but every action until the author decides this says that the character actually *doesn't*. There's no underlying need, anywhere. It's pretty unbelievable that one day she's slamming down drinks in spite of a career-changing presentation, and the next day she's desperate for hearth, home, husband and HEA. Um... no.

But I had to give it one more star, because the flow of the story *was* good. The author's could convey relationships, action, and description. Believe me, that's big in these freebie books. Unfortunately she's just not mature enough to slow down and write a GOOD story. Yet. ((I have hopes for you...))

This is the story about how Emma finds her happy after. I have some issues with this book.
1. All the main characters in this story have 30 years, but they act and behave like they were college guys even Emma.
2. Emma is an annoying inmature girl, she keeps winning about not having a nice relationship with the women in her family but she doesn't make an effort about it. Lack of communication skills. She can't control her drinking.
3. The relationship with her 3 best friends is totally unreal, they are always ready to please her, pamper her, she is perfect for them.
4. This is a happy book everything resolves too quickly, suddenly she finds the hot guy which is basically hot and perfect, suddenly he cheats on her, suddenly she finds real love and happily ever after.

For me there was not much development in the plot and the characters were flat, Shane was too perfect, I was trying to find something to make him come alive, but there was nothing.

Life is not perfect but Shane was.

All of my GR friends who have rated this previously are IRL friends with the author. Maybe that swayed their review, maybe it didn't. (I'm sorry if you guys think I'm a b*tch for this honest review, but it is what it is. I'm entitled to my opinion too.)

I couldn't get past the first couple of pages of this book before I gave up. All of the blathering on about "perfect this" and "perfect that" just was too much.

Seriously, 4 stars?? Really?! Maybe I'm a book snob, but in *my* world, where Gone With the Wind and Anne of Green Gables are 5 stars, this book doesn't even freaking come CLOSE.

Amazing! I love the lighthearted and very funny story of Emma and her three roommates...Shane, Tyler and Rob! Lucky girl!!! I love the dynamics of each of their relationships and couldn't help be laugh out loud at some of the things they did. Rob cracks me up completely and I love his in appropriateness, Ty is a big softy and tells it like it is, and Shane is just the perfect guy and had me hooked from the start. I would love to be like Emma...strong, independent, successful and yet still insecure. Each character is real and believable! While I suffered a few "awe crap" moments I enjoyed every part of this journey...and want more!!! I do not believe in spoilers...you will need to read it for yourself, but I promise to well not be disappointed!! Can't wait for more from Ms. Woodward. XO

I'm not really sure what to say about this book so I'm just gonna say my feelings after reading this.

I liked this story. By no means was this a one of a kind, spectacular, unique books that you must drop everything to read. It's definitely one of those books that you read and think, "Did I read this already?". Well, technically I didn't by I've read MANY stories with the same plot. You know, the whole girl is tired of being alone and is set to fine the perfect man, while all along her perfect man was right underneath her nose? The whole falling in love with your best friend type of book. But I still love those books and I usually can't say no to them. But it is definitely one of those stories that leaves you feeling happy, with a smile on your face :).

What's not to love about this book, a girl with three smoking hot male roomates! This is a great new release that has everything love, friendship and drama. Emma is a tomboy by nature even though her mother has tried so hard to make her into a perfect young lady but being perfect is not what Emma is about. You will fall in love with the three room mates Shane, Rob and Tyler. Emma grew up with Shane and Tyler and then they met Rob at colllege and they are all one big happy family, until feelings and secerts come out then who knows what will happen to their perfect little circle!!

Decent read but I missed something...The premises of the story appealed to me but I had a hard time liking Emma. The boys were great but everything just, felt disconnected. So it wasn't bad, but I expected more.

4.5 stars! There were a few typos that were distracting and I was able to predict a few events. Nevertheless, I loved the story, the characters, and the emotions that it elicited in me!
