Madeleine Beckett is a born and bred Hoosier who still lives in Indy with her hunky high school sweetheart, gorgeous son, and house full of yapping dogs.

Maddie’s love of books came at an early age. Her parents were evil and deprived her of a television; therefore, books became her obsession. She found that she could curl up with someone’s words and be exported to another world; places dreamed up from the most creative imaginations. She could be a princess, ride a broom, jettison to the moon. Anything was possible when she held a collection of words in her hands.

As a child, she dreamed of becoming a famous author. She secretly hid a notebook under her twin bed and every night, she would put ink to paper, wishing desperately to write stories of fairies and far away lands with perfect Prince Charming’s and never-ending happily ever afters. But all she ended up with were doodles scribbled across a page.

Many years later, that old desire resurrected itself again and one day she touched fingertips to a keyboard and a story was born. She found her love and passion that day and has typed so many words since then that she’s blown up three laptops and has smoke coming out of her fourth.

Maddie loves laughing, hot pink lipstick, and Krispy Kreme donuts. She once, on a dare, ate an entire dozen in one sitting.

She's so thankful that she has beautiful people that read her words. They mean the world to her.

I liked this one

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The first is slightly better, but it's a nice ending to the series :)

*This will be a bit spoilerish to those who haven't read the first book*

The story

It picks up right where it left off, Myra is standing in front of Dylan's house talking to Sabrina. She is hurt and thinks Dylan got back together with his wife.
Dylan comes out and asks her to wait until morning, he'll explain everything when Sabrina isn't listening, but no. Myra wants an explanation RIGHT THEN AND THERE, and when he doesn't give any, she goes home, packs her bags and leaves town.
Dylan follows her and tries to explain, eventually they both get back to Nyssa and are forced to deal with a stalker that has set sights on both Myra and Dylan.

In this book we finally get an explanation about Dylan and it's very emotional.
The rest of the book is pretty much drama and more drama.
They fought and it took them forever to get back together, and when they did there was more drama and more drama that separated them for a whole bunch of pages.
I'm not very fond of separations in my books so this didn't work well with me at all.

The suspense part... It was pretty good, until it was discovered who the stalker is. The choice for the bad guy is just terrible. I guess I got spoiled by all the great mysteries from Poirot and Marple, I expected the stalker would be someone from the main characters (as was hinted) but that (as it usually goes) it turns out to be a shock when we find out who it is. You know, someone who is always there but you'd never think of as the culprit?

The writing is great! It was written in 3rd person present tense (and I HATE present tense), but surprisingly it didn't bother me that much here. That's why the writing must be damn great for me to overlook it hahahha :DDDD

There were some hot times here too, I loved Dylan and his dirty mouth :DD

The epilogue - wow! There should be more like those written! Very long, and we get to see them happy and all :) Too sweet for my taste, but I still liked it cause it was long and detailed :)

Myra

I can just copy-paste what I said about her in the first book.
She just isn't a heroine for me. The woman is too weepy, and doesn't have a sensible bone in her body, well, maybe a few.
Just that beginning when she didn't let Dylan explain it in the morning, but she had to have it NOW, and then later refusing to even let him explain at all... That's just childish behavior.
I only liked her because of what she'd done concerning Dylan, she didn't give up on him and that's the best part of her in here :)
Like I said in the review for the first book, I don't think there was one scene in the book where her eyes didn't tear up. I don't mean really crying and sobbing, but MAN! Do they have to tear up at everything? I can get emotional at a lot of stuff, but I don't cry all the time.
Anyway. Just not someone I like to read and I just couldn't get myself to love her at all. I liked her, sometimes, and that's enough from me.

Dylan

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Now him I did love <3
He swears a lot and he's grumpy all the time :) He's brooding and has something very sad in his past :( Damn but that one was difficult to read :((((
He has problems that he takes into his relationship with Myra, and one that leads to a big separation in the book.
I kinda got him and why he couldn't deal, but still. Me not likey separations!!
Anyway, he finally got his head out of his @ss and realised what's important, and I loved him for it <3
In this book, we get to see more of his emotional side, so yeah <3 I was melting there <3
And as was in the first book, the scene when he was drunk was uber-sweet <3

Susie

She's the best friend that brings humor into the book.
I liked it when she said funny stuff, but every time she starts with one of her stories I admit, I skipped reading those. She tells a lot of her "adventures" in the book that end up being totally gross, but funny, and I don't like that type of humor.
It reminds me of those Seduction and Snacks books, and since they're on my never-ever-e-v-e-rrrrrrrrr shelf, you can guess that sort of humor just isn't for me. But if it's something you liked, than you'll laugh like crazy here.

With all this said, I preferred the first book. It had less drama, and the falling in love part that's always interesting to read in a book :D
So, three stars cause I liked it, and cause I love Dylan :)))

4.5 Colorful and Healing Stars

description

The second book in Madeleine Beckett's emotional Color series is a beautiful story about surviving, letting go of the past, second chances and earning forgiveness.

"Accept the blame no matter how innocent you are; that’s the man’s job. And then beg for forgiveness on your hands and knees if you have to."

description

Myra & Dylan our amazing and damaged heroes learn to live again, together and stronger. They redeem themselves in the eyes of the most brutally honest and unforgiving judge, their own selves. They deal with grief and family, daring to dream and love again.

“I want all of you. I’ll take everything you can give me, even the broken pieces.” His eyes are soft as he stares deep into hers. “You have me, all of me,” he whispers, swallowing hard. “You’re putting all my broken shit back together again.”

description

Picking up immediately where the first book left us hanging, this book answers all our questions and as secrets and heartbreak are revealed and our heroes despair and love, you can't stop reading...

Dylan is a frustrating hardheaded, perfect, wounded man. He is infuriating but you can't stay mad at him. You want to throttle him, but you can't help love him. His pain is palpable and you hurt alongside him.

Myra is a woman transformed. Long gone is the whimpering, afraid of her own shadow girl. She is determined and in love. Patient and caring. A balm to Dylan's abused and scared soul. The voice of reason, a woman you can admire.

description

Always by their side, their wild bunch of friends and family. Chad and Susie with their ridiculous jokes, inappropriate sense of humour and steadfast dedication to what they consider theirs. Dylan's parents and Porter and Jackie... (hey Jackie, sorry for thinking the worst of you..)

Crying and sobbing, ripping your heart out and laughing out loud moments, this book is fiercely realistic and honest. No too-perfect-to-be-true characters, you get angry with them but at the same time you understand their reactions and you hurt along with them.

description

And finally, everything you were hopping for.

Sunshine and laughter, joy, family and happiness.

description

A must-read, highly recommended series. Abso-freaking-lutely loved these books.

Keep your heart open; love will find a way in and life will finally reward you.

Now that’s a sequel that gets ‘er done!!!

I loved this beautifully *thorough* follow-up. 4.5 Stars! Myra & Dylan pickup right where they left off in book one. But be prepared. You will be taken on a bumpy ride. Grief, lost-love, laughter & hope are all here and you *feel* every one of them.
"My heart, well, it loves you, but it hurts. I don't know how to make it stop..."
Dylan is a deeply scarred man.

I have to say, Dylan really showed such a deep/tender side as he struggled with his inner turmoil & heartache... and had some standout moments that *truly* touched me. Trust me on this.
Sabrina, his ex-wife, plays a bigger role in this book and their shared past is effecting Dylan's present & future. He wants to make things right with Myra, and just when you think it will happen, a surprise is revealed that shakes him to his core. This “surprise” puts an uncomfortable wedge between him and Myra. On top of that someone is now stalking Myra and suspicions are cast, which adds a darker and dramatic flair to their relationship.
Myra
This book captures the true essence of what a book should be. It takes you on a journey that’s not always happy and is so *realistic* in the dialogue, situations and pacing of story the entire way through. It is a long read, but in the end you feel like everyone has become a part of your family. You really connect emotionally.

The passion in here is sizzling, but if you’re looking for a quick “Wham Bam Thank-You Ma’am” this is not it. There is unbelieveable chemistry between Myra & Dylan, but there are also family dynamics & dialogue involved that are touching, funny, wholesome and incredibily *felt* real. In the end, all of these characters leave you with a sense of family and contentment.

AND OF COURSE Susie is back!!! Love her :) She had so many LOL moments for me that I lost count. *smiles* Madeleine how do you come up with this stuff?!! This time around, Susie met her match with Dylan's brother Chad!! She once again provides much needed comic-relief because Dylan’s tragic past is pretty heavy. Chad's humor is the cherry on top!

4.5 Stars!! Some minor critiques: As much as I love my Susie here, some of her off-color dialogue became a bit long-winded and I wasn’t thrilled with the identity of Myra’s ‘creeper’ – that was totally random (even though I sensed it late in the game). The "creeper reveal" is what ultimately took it down a notch for me. And one other thing I would have loved to see was (Massive Spoiler Alert!!!) -- Yes, I am evil and always love an eye-for-an-eye!

Overall, I simply loved this conclusion. With TWO epilogues, how can you not feel happy!!!

*Major* mad-props go out to Miss Madeleine for a wonderful story. Truly a treasure of characters I will never forget!

4.5 but will up it to 5 because I f*****g loved Dylan. Oh, Dylan, with your shaggy hair, your bristly whiskers, your awful bad language, your bad moods, your anger, your loneliness, your stubbornness.... everything about you I loved. This picked up just where the last one finished and I did really like the last one also. There was misunderstandings, crying, sex, kissing, lips, crying, family, friends, f*****g bad language, crying... yep, you get the picture. The only thing I did not like was the amount of times Myra was in tears, or close to tears or had tears in her eyes. I wanted to hop her head of the new kitchen cabinet Dylan was installing for her. We knew Dylan had a past and it was fairly heartbreaking. But Myra was there for him and together they did eventually make it. There was the Psycho - not who I was expecting. The best friend, Susie - she was a hoot - I laughed out load a few times at some of the stuff she came out with, yeah, some of it was a bit vulgar but that was just the way she was. Jackie annoyed me trying too hard to be the new BFF. Chad, Sabrina - never really felt sorry for her - not sure why but in the end was glad to hear her story also. Dylan's parents and siblings - altogether they were a great bunch. The story really flowed and the EPILOGUE - That is what I want to read at the end of a book - I want to see further down the road, not just a few weeks later. This was EIGHT years later and Dylan and Myra still had the passion and the sparkle. Highly recommend this one. Thanks to the author for my FIRST ever ARC. Glad it was a good one cos if it wasn't I am not sure if I would have been able to review...... Hope no one is offended by use of the F word but some situations warrant it.....

In this sequel, Color of Forgiveness picks up where the previous book, Color of Loneliness leaves off. Myra and Dylan’s relationship has become much more than friends. The chemistry is off the charts and the intimacy they share is tender and special. Unfortunately, Myra stumbles across facts about Dylan’s past that he’d failed to mention. Heartbroken, she rushes off to her best friend in Philly to lick her wounds and put some much needed distance between them.

Dylan has suffered unimaginable pain; the kind that changes forever who you are. He’d meant to tell Myra everything, but the anguish he feels just thinking about the past caused his delay. He follows her hoping for a chance to explain. With his painful and distressing revelations comes understanding and forgiveness.
“I want you, too,” she whispers. “I want all of you. I’ll take everything you can give me, even the broken pieces.”

His eyes are soft as he stares deep into hers. “You have me, all of me,” he whispers, swallowing hard. “You’re putting all my broken shit back together again.”
They return home to Nyssa little knowing that a different set of events were about to unravel and turn their life into a nightmare.

I liked that the focus in this second installment is completely centered on Dylan and Myra's relationship. As their bond deepens, Dylan reveals some pretty astounding facts that may affect their future. Soon another major tidbit is revealed that changes everything. It’s of magnitude proportion and brings their relationship to a grinding halt. In the midst of this devastation, Myra’s life is put into danger from an unknown stalker.

Another highlight is Dylan’s large family. Their love and concern for him shows a devoted family. Being so alone and with no living relatives made their response to Myra a pleasure. It reminded me of the movie, “While You Were Sleeping” where the heroine not only falls in love with the hero, but also his entire family. It’s very touching and a lovely part of this story.

While I enjoyed this journey I did have a few quibbles, one being the feeling of too much. The conversations and details are sometimes long. It’s over 500 pages and I found myself skimming to get to the good parts. The plot and writing are both good and flows nicely. This is Madeleine Beckett’s second novel and I'm thinking we'll be seeing much more from her in the very near future.

Dylan and Myra were broken, each struggling with their inner turmoil in their own way. Theirs is a journey of not only finding true love but emotional healing as well. I’m very glad for their Happy Ending. I came to admire and love Dylan Lawson. The author did a good job with his character growth. An epilogue is given that is superb and one of the sweetest HEA’s I’ve read!

4.5 Fantastic healing stars!

There's so much to love about this book, it's impossible to list. Especially most of the things are spoilers. What needs to be said first and foremost is that I didn't like either Dylan or Myra in the first book, Color of Loneliness......but that changed immensely in this book. Myra went from a shy, kind of mousey character in CoL to a strong, supportive rock star in this book. Her support for Dylan during the revelation of his secret, his coldness to her when he finds out "her secret" was never ending. She understood him and never fled.

Dylan....wow, what a transformation in my mind. In CoL, he was cold-hearted, rough around the edges, and had no redeeming qualities with me. The end of CoL has part of his past as a cliffy but his real secrets come out tenfold in this book. My heart cracked open for this man. His grief and pain he'd held in for years, denying himself happiness and the ability to move forward. Although I was a bit irritated with his aloofness to Myra when "her little secret" comes out, he stands by day and night to protect her from the threat lurking in the shadows. Myra teaches him love and that allowing himself happiness is not taking away from his past grief he's endured. There's plenty of love in a person's heart. His just needed to be tapped. Once he learned that, the man was my hero. What a great guy!

Myra's BFF Susie is still a hoot in this book, as is Dylan's brother, Chad. Those two were laugh out loud characters. Dylan's family was so loving and supportive of Myra, who has no family left.

The book was long but it went by rather quickly. We got the answers to all the questions from CoL and we got the closure we needed. The two epilogues gave us a great ending to a story that needed the happiness and closure in the end.......

I don't know if I can even explain my love for this book.

The begining picks up right at the end of Color of Loneliness. The author even gave a quick review before the story starts of that crazy cliffhanger ending, which was genius of her, IMHO.

In my last review of the first book, I admitted that I wanted to hate Dylan for what he did to Myra, but I wasn't convinced it was what it seemed. Dylan just didn't come across to be the Trent like douche that the ending left you thinking he could be. I'm so glad I was right. That's all I will say because I don't want any spoilers in my review.

Dylan has such a sad horrific past. I bawled when I found out what had happened to him, Sabrina, and Mel. Like going get the trashcan because the floor is littered with tissues bawled. I hurt for them. It explained so much about Dylan and why he had just pretty much given up on everything. I just wanted to wrap that man up in my arms and hold him and thhheeennnn, let him talk his dirty talk to me all night. YUM, Dylan was sooo yummy.

And Myra, sweet sweet Myra. I think she grew so much in this book. The main thing she did was learn to stand up for herself and stop running from her problems. She was so forgiving and understanding. I really loved her strength and compassion in this book. SO many things were coming down around her and she just kept her head held high and dealt with it, one day at a time.

Above all else, I loved Dylan and Myra together. WOW, they were hot in the sheets but so loving elsewhere. They were both scared...Myra scared to push Dylan to far and Dylan afraid of moving forward in life whatsoever, but they helped each other and it was just beautiful. There were parts I was frustrated with Dylan, but I loved getting his POV and understanding why he was being like he was being. I just got frustrated because he thought one thing but acted a different way. But, I got why he was struggling and tried not to hold it against him.

SUSIE, can she be real?? I LOVED SUSIE!! She is the bestest best friend EVER!!! I loved her..."care package" she sent to Myra, and her letter, sooo sweet. She just seemed so real. With her inability to stick with diets, complaining about her husband, her hilarious stories, and awe I loved her sarcastic quirky attitude. PLUS, she has a huge obsession with Desmond her book boyfriend which I think lots of us book readers relate to.

This story was just amazing!!! I loved all the characters. The drama, the heartbreak, the ending, OMG the ending. I loved how the story completely tied up. IF you can't tell I just loved it all!!!
I look forward to reading more from Ms. Beckett as this was just amazing, and would like to thank her for offering me this arc of this beautiful love story.

If you haven't read the first book, there may be spoilers for it hidden in this review!

When we last saw Dylan and Myra, these two had finally acted on their growing feelings for each other. Directly afterwards, Dylan does a mysterious disappearing act, leaving Myra to wonder whether what just happened was an unplanned booty call. Especially when she hunts him down at his house and is greeted by a woman wearing nothing but his shirt who claims to be his ex wife. So yeah, what woman WOULDN'T jump to the wrong conclusion there?

This next part was my first problem with the book. Myra and Dylan make plans for Dylan to come to her house to explain what the heck just happened (because Dylan couldn't just tell her right there at his house?) but before the meeting takes place, Myra is now called away on an emergency back in Philly. Not only does she leave without telling Dylan, but she retains a running hissy fit for days and won't even answer him on the phone. Dylan is desperate to talk, drama drama...Myra has a new secret, drama drama...and the story turns into a miniseries of soap opera-ish proportions.

Now, I have to say, I was a big fan of Dylan, so I'm a bit partial to the big jerk. But instead of him apologizing for his sudden departure after their sexy times, I think Myra should have simply let him explain. Instead, Myra is a drama queen girl. Turns out, I think she should have been the one apologizing for making Dylan feel guilty about his situation. Dylan is working through some INTENSE issues, something so painful and powerful that it changed my entire perspective of him.

I tend to love the heroes...women in books start out one rung down on the ladder because I already don't like their gender. They bother me. Giggling is one of the most annoying things a girl can do in a book...and the word count for the word "giggle" is 111. Just sayin'. That is an insane amount of giggling.

I still liked the plot of this story, but the execution seemed to drag out for an inordinate amount of time. I think about 100 pages here and there could easily been cut out without detracting from Myra and Dylan's story. Too many details when some could have been left to the imagination, too many BIG MOMENTS, too many things going on. A little example: One huge moment of the story has a big dramatic scene that ends one of the plot lines for the book. At the end of the chapter, the wording is as if it's the end of the book...a closing line if I ever heard one, and yet there are still over a hundred pages to go.

A couple of things that I loved:

-- I love Dylan's whole family!!!! Their crazy love for each other made me love Dylan that much more. The way their stories infiltrated Myra and Dylan's life really helped to bring this book full circle for me...they rounded out the story and made it feel like real life. They gave this could a future filled with love and support no matter what is to come.

-- The real life issues: I love books that deal with kids and families and bills and REAL things. Yes, the fantasy helps to make a great romance, but for me to believe in that romance, I want to hear some yucky stuff too. And Dylan and Myra deal with death and life and ex wives and annoying best friends...things that normal people encounter on their journey with their special someone. So when I put this book down, I truly felt as if they were in it for the long haul!!! And that was before I got to the epilogue...

-- The EPILOGUE!!!! Oh, this is what epilogues were made for!!!! This was swoony and teary and heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once... It was an EPIC EPILOGUE if ever I did see one, and such a beautiful way to end Dylan and Myra's journey to love and healing.

Many thanks to Madeleine Beckett for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

WANT, NEED THIS BOOK NOWWWW!!!!!

He picks up her hand and brings it up to his chest over his heart. She looks up at him as he looks down at her, his eyes shiny. “I need to tell you sumpin’. This,” he whispers as he presses her hand against his chest, “is yours. My heart. It’s all yours. My heart, well, it loves you, but it hurts. I don’t know how to make it stop. It just hurts all the time, ya know?”
Myra nods, tears filling her eyes. “I know,” she whispers back. “I wish it didn’t hurt.” She rubs the spot over his heart, wishing she could take his pain away.
“Me too,” he whispers as a tear spills down his cheek. “I’m scared.”

Loaded with thrills and chills, this conclusion to Dylan and Myra's story was much faster paced than the last one. It was very good, and Dylan was amazing--when he wasn't being an asshole. But he was a sexy and tormented asshole, ;-).
The cliffy we were left with was quickly resolved, but the fallout from that carried on much farther into the story. Dylan was incredible in dealing with his mistakes. He was so intense, so tortured, it killed me sometimes.

But then he'd go all asshole again! Gheesh! But I really understood his reservations. After suffering through the loss he did, I could only imagine my reaction to everything. He was scared and petrified of reliving the past. Thank goodness he had the most awesome family on earth to help him see the light and not ruin the best thing to have happened to him. He resisted--hence his assholish tendencies--but when he finally relented and saw that what he faced was actually a gift...beautiful.

Myra, although I liked her she was often too lenient on Dylan's crap--I like to call it doormatitis---I totally understood Susie's frustration with her. But at the same time, Myra's persistence on hanging around only solidified Dylan's feelings for her. So who's to blame? No one really. But I would have loved to see Myra leave if only to prove to Dylan that she's capable of doing so. But that all didn't matter because when things got resolved Dylan became the man he was destined to be and Myra became the woman that made it happen. That's epic love.

The whole thing with Sabrina was sad and heartbreaking. She was out of line but I completely understood where she came from. I'm glad things looked up for her too. Susie...that woman's a riot, Jeff too! And Dylan's family, they were so supportive and so dependable and loving...loved all of them. Especially Scott, he was a hilarious! What a great brother too.

There were 2 epilogues, 2! The first one was good but a smidgin too long. I think I would have preferred it written as another chapter but dated 8 months later, while the second was what I really wanted. 8 years down the road and things are still great with Dylan and Myra. Great series, really sweet.

Oh wow, where to begin...

The story of Myra and Dylan is one of those stories I will always remember. I think they were both such brave characters. Her, for never shutting herself off from love, after everything she'd been through. I didn't mind that she was emotional. Myra reminded me one of my favorites quotes:

" If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."
- Jim Valvano

Dylan...**dreamy sigh** In the first book, he was this sexy, closed off, asshole- in this book- OMG, he blew me away. After finding out what he'd gone through, watching him heal...I can't put into words how emotional that was for me. The way in which it was written was simply brilliant. I felt what he felt. I fell in love with him in this book.

This book had a little bit of everything:
Romance:

Comedy:
 photo url-1_2__zpsa7ec40f6.gif

Suspense:
 photo LJLULZ.gif

And some awesome dirty talking-and at times I had to stop to collect myself.
 photo tumblr_mbylkcDlbW1riqizno1_500_zps91790b16.gif

The epilogue in this book was simply great, and when I was done- I laid there with a dreamy smile on my face.

I found this sequel to the Color of Loneliness to drag a lot in parts but overall, I enjoyed it!

The story started right where Color of Loneliness ended off. This time, a reader finds Myra strong and determined. Her constant crying spells are limited and I think I kinda fell in love with her.

Myra’s love for Dylan helps him get through some huge hurdles all the while they are being stalked by a crazy lunatic.Things take a suspenseful turn but overall, I was surprised by the stalker reveal.

On a Sabrina note, I’m thinking I’m in the minority but I’m glad how things worked out for her.

I loved all of the secondary characters especially Susie. Susie, I’ll send you my email address would love to VBBFs with ya!!

This book had 2, yes 2 epilogues which left me smiling and happy for the hot contractor and this author!!

The Color series by Madeleine Beckett has been a true joy to read, both books! Anyone who loves adult contemporary romance should thoroughly enjoy Color of Loneliness (book #1) and Color of Forgiveness (book #2)!!

Color of Forgiveness picks up immediately where Color of Loneliness ends. Myra has taken an emotional leap of faith by letting Dylan in and allowing herself to fall for him. She understands Dylan is keeping parts of his past quiet because of the pain it causes him. Myra accepts this, but, when confronted with the reality of a piece of Dylan's past, and the way it is handled at the time, she is stunned to realize that the trust which was growing has been shattered. Dylan is battling overwhelming loss and grief, and his inability to open up to Myra causes definite bumps in the growing relationship. There is more of Dylan's past to be revealed still, as well as a surprise in store for both Myra and Dylan. It could be the answer to a prayer. Or, it could signal the end.

I *loved* Color of Forgiveness because it brought a real sense of balance to the characters and the story as a whole! The first book was truly Myra's story, and, if you've read my review, you know I connected with and rooted for Myra in a BIG way. Color of Forgiveness was much more Dylan's story, and, wow, what a story it was! For most of the first book, I was not a fan of Dylan's, not until toward the end. Then he began to win me over. Can I just say, Dylan, I am so, so sorry for ever doubting and disliking you. This poor man has been through such personal hell, I wanted to grab him and tell him that I would never let anything hurt him again. His heart and soul had been so badly ripped apart, it was nothing short of a miracle that he found the strength and courage to open himself to Myra. I so completely felt the depth and grip of Dylan's pain and grief during a particular scene that I was sobbing right along with him and Myra. That poor, poor man. I am now a Dylan fan of immense proportions. He's a beautiful, damaged soul. He earned my respect and awe when he found the strength and courage to deal with his pain, and particularly in the way that he did.

Myra was his guiding light through all of this. His other half. And so much more. She simply reinforced the love and respect I already had for her from book one.

I can't *not* mention Susie. Susie, Susie. Disgusting, foul-mouthed, loud, embarrassing....and still the single best, best friend I've read in any book! I <3 this woman MADLY!!

The little bit of suspense in this book kind of came out of the blue for me, and I thought it was a bit odd and unnecessary. However, it certainly didn't detract from my overall enjoyment :-)

Madeleine Beckett, you have another winner with Color of Forgiveness! I cannot wait to see what you come up with next!!

The second book picks up right where it ended in book 1, "Color of Loneliness." I was actually hoping that I'd like this book a lot more than the first one. I think I would have if it wasn't for the fact the novel was way too long. At almost 500 pages, the author definitely could have scaled it back by removing half of it. The story of Dylan and Myra; their love for one another; and their story of reaching a HEA was done well. Dylan definitely had a lot of issues that he had to deal with; that and acknowledging his true feelings for Myra. However, unlike a lot of other readers, I thought the novel could have once again done without so much of Jackie and Susie. Good God! Talk about overkill when it came to reading all the rants and descriptions of what was going on in Susie's life. I love when authors are able to integrate all the secondary characters into the story with ease and purpose without them overshadowing the protagonists and the story; and still being liked by the reader. But in "Color of Forgiveness," I felt nothing but contempt for both Susie and Jackie. The author could have definitely scaled back like 80% when it came to these two ridiculous jackals. It felt as though the author was trying to make the novel longer; proving how well-loved Myra was by her two friends. Instead it was just pages and pages of unnecessary, ridiculous and asinine stories. Yes, they're funny at times but it's just way too much. Why couldn't the author give Myra a friend who was closer to her age? Instead you had Susie who's ten years older than Myra; and Jackie who's ten years younger; both of whom are nothing like Myra. If Dylan couldn't stand Jackie, how the hell could he stand Susie? If that wasn't bad enough, there's a little way too much also dedicated to Dylan's family members that I could have done without. You could tell the author created Chad's personality to almost mirror that of Susie's. When all is said done, just not my cup of tea. Seems like I'm in the minority here again, but it's just how I feel. Half-way thru and I kept hoping it would just end. I'd be lying if I said I didn't skim thru the last half of the novel.

I really liked the first book and was excited to start book 2, but it did not work for me.

I liked Myra and Dylan, but there were a lot of things that I could not get past. It annoyed me that Dylan felt sorry for his ex-wife, Sabrina. I know there were a lot of readers that felt sympathy for her, but I could not get past how she came off as a manipulative b***ch by having Myra assume that she had sex with Dylan and that they were working on getting back together and this is after Dylan told Sabrina that he met someone special. Sabrina was even wearing her wedding ring. It also bothered me that Dylan forgave Sabrina's behavior when she told him what she told Myra. I thought one of the most important things in recovery (Sabrina is an ex-drug addict) is honesty!! She was not honest at all when she told Myra all those lies! Sabrina made Myra feel bad. It also bothered me how Dylan's sister in-law missed Sabrina then Dylan's mom missed Sabrina. I did not understand what they missed about that woman!! I could not get passed that. It is an issue I could not get over. I think I would be more accepting if I did not feel that Dylan felt sorry for Sabrina. Everyone felt sorry for her. I know she lost a two children in one week (one died, the other she miscarried), but it takes a certain type of person to be that cruel to another (i.e. Sabrina and Myra's first meeting). This is my opinion. I know there are many readers who did not see Sabrina the way I did.

I did love Susie. I want her as by VBFF!! I think everyone needs a crazy BFF like Susie!!

There were a lot of chapters that I felt could have been cut and/or eliminated. They were either too wordy or scenes that I felt were just fillers.

I found myself faced with the same problem as with Color of Loneliness....I pretty much skim read the entire book. I didn't care for this story as well as CoL. This story just seemed to have too much drama.

CoF picks up right where CoL left off. Myra has discovered a little something of Dylan's past. Dylan is forced to tell Myra everything...finally. Now that everything is out in the open they can move forward with their "relationship". You would think....

No, one obstacle after another threatens their relationship. I kind of saw the first big obstacle coming....it was inevitable. The rest of the drama, especially the stalker just didn't fit. Especially who the stalker was. I was shocked? Guess that's what the author was going for....

Dylan and Myra spent the majority of the book apart, which I think is one of the things I didn't like. They do eventually work everything out and get their HEA. And the author provided us with not one but TWO epilogues--comprising the last 20% of the book--so that was nice.

As a whole, I enjoyed the series and Dylan and Myra's journey.

6 Stars!!! OMG! WOW , just WOW!!!

I really don't know what to say except this book completely knocked the wind out of me! I loved it! I loved it! I loved it!!

I'm not sure where to start with this. I absolutely LOVED this book! This is the second book that is a continuation from Color of Loneliness. You do have to read the first book, as it is the foundation. In the first book we see Dylan and Myra come together. Now to all of those out there that had a hard time with the first book, it was worth it!! I loved the first book...but this one is outstanding!! it gets better and better. This one gets to all the GOOD STUFF!! I feel like I was part of this family of characters. I felt I was part of the story. That is the exceptional talent of this author! She manages to draw us in as though we are involved and emotionally attached. I laughed, I cried, I was heartbroken, I felt loved and felt passionate right along with the characters! I do have to tell you this, I fell completely and whole heartily in LOVE with Dylan!! If I could dream up the perfect man, Dylan would be it!! He's hot, sexy, masculine, has scruffy dark hair with stubble, is romantic in a caveman way, sweet and yet so completely manly with his swearing and shit!!! I just loved how affectionate he is!! How about the flannel shirt pot holder??!! So cool!! And themost perfect first date ever!! And the single red rose...OMG SWOON!!

This book reminds me a teensiest bit like Kristen Ashley's books. It was long and extremely detailed ( thats what makes it so great). The H/h are together throughout the book, but we see their relationship grow and develop and them fall in love. We see them hit road blocks and watch them get through them together. We also come to learn Dylan's big secretive past and what has him so broken. Dylan is the perfect hot, alpha gruff guy and Myra is strong, understanding, sweet, caring and beautiful. I really did love her. She was so refreshing. And also, the epilogue!!! My good god!! No, not just One epilogue, but 2 fantastic epilogues!!. Like this was the queen of all epilogues!! Just what we needed!! I was literally swooning and cheering!! And also, Susie!! She was priceless! Every woman needs a girlfriend like Susie!! She had me laughing so hard!! I don't know how the author does it!! Her imagination and talent is phenomenal! Susie was just perfect in the book! I loved all her comments about Dylan and his powertool!! Haha And I do have to say, I really loved Susie's relationship with her husband. I loved how they have been married for 10 years or so and we see them still so in love and yet so funny together. Their familiarity with each other was so realistic and truthful!! I laughed and cried and everything right along with them all.

I just loved how affectionate Dylan was. Some of the things he says to Myra...sweet baby Jesus...I was loving it!!

" Goddamn it, Myra, I need to be inside of you...right fucking now," he practically snarls. His hands grip the side of her panties, ripping them in half.

" You're so fucking beautiful you take my goddamn breath away."
Her mouth drops open, his words stealing her breath away. She believes the words from his lips. She's never felt so sexy, so beautiful, so loved.

I could go on and on with quotes because there are so many great moments. Everything about the book is so good! There also manages to have some suspense in it...which I really loved. I just can not say enough about the talents of this fabulous author, Madeleine Beckett. Not often does a book draw me in so much. I am attracted so greatly to books that are emotional, a love story and have a long journey. Well this is it!!

Overall, I loved it!! It was a long road and I don't want it to end!! I feel so sad that the book is over, these people are my family. I will truly miss all these characters. I feel empty because I just want to be with them. Need more Dylan!! :) And the epilogues!! Exceptional!! This is the ultimate Happily Ever After!! Fantastic! Best ending ever...I feel so completely satisfied and happy with the ending! I will remember this book always.

(I will post a pic of Dylan soon, once I figure out how to do it ;). I have the perfect pic of my dark, scruffy haired man with all that stubble on his face...mmm mmm. So hot!!)

The sequel picks up where the Color of Loneliness last left off, and ties up all loose ends. This time around, the smutty scenes multiplied, and I quickly devoured the book in one-setting. I loved the escalating drama and again, the slow tension build-up right before the climax. In this sequel, Myra and Dylan solidify their relationship, for better or for worse...

But, Myra has to deal with the skeletons in Dylan’s closet, especially as the mysterious Sabrina makes more than a couple of suspicious appearances, at unexpected places & times. Also, there’s a lot of ‘secrets’ that gets unpacked and revealed, but can Myra handle Dylan’s baggage? More importantly, the element of danger isn’t completely obsolete. Although a few creeps threatened Myra in book #1, mysterious shadows, slashed tires, and vandalized cars, a possible stalker – haunt Myra & Dylan (bringing out Dyl’s caveman/alpha side out, yum). Not only that, a shocking turn of events completely left me speechless... Myra has a secret of her own, a secret she doesn’t know Dylan can handle.

Will their growing attraction ultimately amount to love? Or will reality come crashing down, shattering a possible HEA? Maybe sometimes, things fall apart so other things can fall together.

As the book title suggests, the plot is very much focused on forgiveness. At first, I wanted more angst, but I figured there was enough angst from Dylan, and moping around for Myra in the first book. So there was a refreshing shift in the sequel, which I (surprisingly) enjoyed. There’s also a lot of development & growth for both Dylan and Myra. Myra’s not the timid, shy, pushover she was, when she was dating her cheating, scumbag ex. She actually stands up for herself consistently; I loved that it was DYLAN she stood up to. She owed it to herself AND Dylan to do so. In the end, it just made me love those two even more.

Then, of course, there’s SUSIE. The best friend I wish I had, and know I need. She’s hilarious as always, but steps it up a notch, when it comes to being the best virtual best friend, ever. Her ever comforting advice never fails to make me laugh out loud, and genuinely cheer ME up!

There are more appearances of characters introduced in book #1 (Jackie, Porter, Ray, Dyl’s parents, family, etc.) And some new ones, but I loved all the side-stories & seeing Myra and Dylan’s interactions between family & friends.

I loved how things turned out; Dylan doesn’t retire his potty mouth for most of the book, but I was so happy to see his change, and the ending (especially the epilogue) couldn’t have been better. I needed that piece of closure, I think. It was lovely.

description

Lastly, Dylan the ‘TOOL MAN’ = totally effing CUTE!!! I’m sad to see Dylan and Myra’s story end, but I guess I can always reread. A lot of the angst level from the first book is lost in this sequel, but there’s a lot of healing, forgiving, and heart wrenching revelations, which I think was even more emotionally impactful. Highly recommended!

5 BIG STARS!

This is the continuation of book #1, which I absolutely loved.

This one picks up right where the first book left off and I enjoyed every single minute of the journey. I knew Dylan didn't intentionally break Myra's heart at the end of the first book!

Dylan is your classic tortured romance Hero who turns away from love because of a traumatic event in his past. His back story was truly heartbreaking but Madeleine Beckett did a superb job of transforming Dylan from a mean spirited grunting recluse into a passionate protector and true Romance Hero. Of course, Dylan couldn't have done it without the love of great woman like Myra.

Myra still cried her eyes out almost every other page but I really couldn't blame her and I just loved her like crazy. The scenes between Myra and her best pal, Susie were unbelievably hilarious. Susie has some of the funniest lines I've ever read! We should all have a friend like Susie.

The other character that I really felt for was Sabrina. She acted like your classic "bad ex" but I felt for her and everything she had to endure.

The Color of Forgiveness is loaded with tragedy, tears, laughter, happiness, babies, over the top family members, crazy stalkers, semi-crazy ex's, hot steamy sex with a nice helping of dirty talk!
Another huge plus were the epilogues - fantastic!

*Thank you Ms. Beckett for the ARC, it was a pleasure reading every page.

This story was great.
The two biggest problems (I can't tell them because of spoilers) were real and dealt with on a way that wasn't overreacted.
Myra is now ufficially my favorite heroine ever, she was strong and even on their bad moments never stopped fighting for Dylan.
Dylan had a lot to deal with and a big road ahead to recover. His past was painful and left me a sobbing mess.
The best part is that the author never left the past in the past but instead made them deal with it, and the fact that Dylan started dealing with his demons when he realised they were too much made me respect him even more.
All the other characters like Susie, Jackie and all of Dylan's family made the book better and funny too (even if the funnier moments were the phonecalls from Susie and Chad (Dylan's brother) jokes).
The best part of all was that it had two epilogues, that lasted like 40 pages...

This was one of the best books I've read on 2013 and I would recommend it to everyone, of course first you have to read the first book!!

Another great book, I love how the book started of with Previously..... it was like I was watching a tv show.

FIRST OFF, in the last book Myra said that she was not going to run back to philly. So what happens in this book just guess no surprise she runs back to philly. I know how she found Dylan was bad but he told her that he would come to her house to explain what happened. But that never happen because she gets a call and it was an emergency and goes back to Philly. What I don't like is that she left without telling Dylan and she wouldn't talk to him for days and she also will not let her friends tell him where she is that was harsh but I also get it. Who wouldn't jump to the wrong conclusion when your greeted by a woman wearing nothing but your mans shirt and who claims to be his ex wife and said she wants him back. But why not answer your goddamn phone let him explain because he had a very good reason I have to say.

AS FOR, for most of this book I wanted to punch, kick and slap Dylan my emotions where shot I was on a freaking roller coaster with him. Dylan was working through something so heartbreaking and painful that I saw him in a different light. But when Myra told Dylan her secret and how he took it I have to say I really wanted to punch him in his gut again.

The epilogue was one of the best epilogue I have every read this is what epilogues were made for. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking and it made me not wonder what happened to the other characters in the book. It was a great way to end Dylan and Myra's story.

Everyone who was left with their mouths gaping open fromColor of Loneliness will be happy to know that book two picks up right where book one left off.

The story is unique and very believable. I felt so many different emotions throughout this book, happy, sad, angry, confused.

There were a few times where I wanted to reach through my iPad and throttle Dylan for being a, how did Susie put it, a " big weenied dickhead, chauvinist pigs-snouted pigface" yea, that was it. But, other then that, he was really amazing.

I love the writing in this book and the dialogue was fantastic!

The epilogue. Wow!
That was a book in and of itself. I loved it. It was the perfect ending, yes! Ending. No cliffhanger.

Looking forward to more books from this author.

Color of Forgiveness:
A captivating story about the struggle of loss, change, forgiveness and love

I must say Madeleine took me by surprise with the direction of this book. As the reader, you will both laugh and cry. After reading Color of Loneliness, I was captivated, however Color of Forgiveness is a stronger book in my opinion. I honestly could not put the book down. I did not expect the tragedy that caused Dylan to be the way his is. You genuinely feel for Dylan in this book, yes he is still a “hard” character, but lovable at the same time. As you read about Dylan and Myra’s journey, you will appreciate everything they have been trough, as individuals, and as a couple to get to they’re happy ending.

The character development in this book was wonderful. It was easy for the reader to develop strong feelings towards each character.

Myra: In book one, Myra was portrayed as a weak individual, who ran to escape her problems. In book two she becomes a strong woman, who can handle the situations life has thrown at her. Yes she still has some self-esteem issues, and allows Dylan to walk all over her at points, but her actions are completely understandable given the circumstances. Personally, I found her much more relatable in book two, then in book one.

Dylan: In book one, I had a love, hate relationship with Dylan. Towards the end of book one, I wrote him off as being like Trent. Based on that, I was not overly in love with him. In book two, you uncover why he acts like a jerk to everyone and his relationship with Sabrina. I literally cried when reading about Dylan’s past. In order to avoid any spoilers, that is all I will say about this. All and all, I love Dylan’s Character, and watching him grow and embrace the change in his life.

Sabrina: My heart goes out to Sabrina; no parent should ever have to go through what she did. However, that is not an excuse to act the way she did towards Myra and Dylan. In reading this book, I could not decide if I liked or disliked Sabrina. In the end, I found that I liked her, and could understand some of her actions. She was simply a woman who was hurting and went about things the wrong way.

Susie: Man, I love this woman. She says what she is thinking, which I always appreciate. This character made me laugh out loud many times thought the book. Her antics are priceless. Everyone needs a friend like this, in my opinion.

Dylan’s Family: I love them all. They are all genuine people, who put the needs of their family above everything else.

In conclusion, I can honestly say that I love this book. I am very good at predicting what is going to occur in books and I must say that this book shocked me, which I found very impressive. I read a lot, and it is very rare that I give out 5 star ratings, however in this case I would say that Madeleine outdid herself, and deserves all 5 stars.

I am so lucky to have gotten and ARC of this book

Love Love Love I feel like I have waited forever for this this book (although it was only a couple of months) but it was worth the wait.

It starts where the last book left off and this is the first of many nail biting moments which kept me enthralled throughout the whole book.

I really felt for both the characters in the last book and this one was no different, I really wanted a HEA for these characters after everything they went through together.
Myra and Dylan made me happy and angry throughout this book. I loved Myra strength in some situations but then she totally let me down how she put up with Dylan's crappy behaviour and Dylan was so loyal and protective but could be a real douche as well.
However this book was filled with so many touching moment especially Dylan finally confessing about his past along with Myra I was heartbroken for him. Also there was more sex which is always good :) (love Dylan's dirty talk)
Susie was hilarious as ever providing the light-hearted aspect throughout some tough moments, also Chad, Dylan's brother turned out to be a male version of Susie, their man vs women vs food scene was amazing.
We also get to know more about Sabrina, Dylan's ex wife. Even though she tried to cause trouble I really felt for her and glad she got her own HEA.

My favourite part was the epilogue. It was so moving and I loved how far in the future it went. Although I would love to read more about these characters I think this wrapped the book up perfectly

I would definitely recommend this book and series.

4.5 Stars. Wow! This book had me reading for hours on end. It was amazing, my only complaint would be the climax of the book takes place and there are still 4 chapters left of the book. So I read and read, and skim and skim, and it was just their everyday lives. I would have condensed the end of the book and the two epilogues (yes 2!) but it was still wonderfully written, hilarious, heart-wrenching, perfect. Btw her best friend Susie steals the show with her one-liners. I have been texting her quotes to friends all week and everyone is in tears laughing!

“Here I go and lose all this weight and get all skinnylicious, ready to have Jeff boink my brains out and now he can't get it up. That man's wiener is softer than a melted marshmallow.” -Susie

Absolutely stunning sequel!

Dylan's past will tug on your heart strings. When you learn the details, you understand why he's so angry all the time. I just loved him! (He can cuddle with me anytime..lol) Myra was an amazing heroine! The sex scenes were great and blended perfectly with the story. I'm gonna miss the whole crew, especially her best friend Susie, and Dylan's brother, Chad. They were hilarious! One of THE BEST epilogues I have ever read!

READ IT AND LOVE IT!!!

Oh Dylan! A lovely set of books about Myra who has no relatives left, meets and falls in love with her contractor, Dylan. Book 1 starts off pretty depressing and my heart hurt for the loneliness Myra was feeling. Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to describe what I felt in the second book when I found out about Dylan's past.

There was some 5* moments but it was a bit draggy at times and I found Myra's bestfriend a bit over the top. Other than that a lovely read and loved the double epilogue.
