Pushing Her Buttons

Rate this book

Every single day, he’s there. Waiting. Watching her. Closed in with her for a hundred stories as they ride the elevator to their floor. And every single day, for a hundred floors, Samantha simmers with banked lust. She wants him—her mysterious neighbor who seems to get off on tempting her. Whose eyes promise the kind of kinky domination she’s too afraid to give in to. And then just when she thinks she’s safe, just when she’s convinced she can resist his allure, he steps up his relentless pursuit. The passion that flares between them burns so hot and so bright it could consume them both. But that’s just on the way up. Who knows what will happen when they’re going down.

Reader Advisory: Samantha’s sexy neighbor tries to drive her wild with lust, and he’ll stop at nothing to succeed. Spanking? Of course. Leather straps? You bet. Girl-on-girl action? Oh yeah. Wear your flame-retardant panties while reading this one.

Another novella... WHY?!?! I am a greedy reader when it comes to my favorite authors. I would love a full length book by Sabrina, but she just keeps teasing me with novellas. Mean... ;)

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Going into it, I thought it would just be a quick, super steamy book. Oh, it is quick and definitely steamy, but it also had a fun plot. Rarely do novellas leave me with a satisfying closure. Boy, was this book ever satisfying. *wink* I felt that this one was just long enough for me to fall in love with both Sam and Jackson. Poor Sam. Her ex-husband was an ass. She wanted things, but because he used her, she denies herself the pleasure. Jackson knew that and he uses it to get her to give in to temption. Once she steps foot in his apartment... It's on! Both of them are into the kinkier way of life, but it doesn't control them. I loved how caring he was with her. And he let's her take control. Why can't more heros be okay with being tied up? That was hot!

It is in first person, which makes it difficult for me to form a bond with the non-POV character. I didn't have that difficulty at all with Jackson. Yes, I'd love his side of the story, but Sam's POV did a good job describing Jackson. Not to mention it added a layer of mystery to Jackson's already mysterious persona.

Now I'm sad... I only have 2 of Sabrina's older books left to read. Must.Slow.Down. Yeah, like that'll happen. :)

Samantha is a powerful executive who likes to stay in control. She's been burned before when she followed her desire to be sexually submissive. This is all in the past and that is where it will stay. Until her sexy neighbor flirts and stalks her. Sam’s inner struggle to resist the tempting offer he provides is taking a toll on her. When she tries to shut him out by bringing home a date, it backfires. Her dominating neighbor ups the game with a sexual ménage.

The sex in this book is kinky hawt. It’s enjoyable and requires little tools of the trade for the characters to get their kink on. This is what makes the book a pleasure to read. The characters Sam and her smexy neighbor without a name are fine. Sam is obviously insecure and shies away from a potentially self destructive relationship. The neighbor on the other hand is sexy, suave and rich. Isn’t this what every woman fantasizes about? His D/s and perverted fantasies are a delight to watch. His interaction with Sam is frustrating. It’s frustrating because for such an accomplished woman, Sam is unable to communicate effective which is why she comes across annoying at times.

The writing voice is different than the usual Ms. York. This story seems to be wordier. The dialog between the characters is more disjointed than her other stories. The beginning of the book is spent on Sam’s inner thoughts which came across petty and too introspective. While Sam is huffing in disgust with her own weaknesses, the reader is flipping through the pages to find the good smexy parts. The story would be tighter if there was less self hatred. Sam’s constant hinting about her past experiences with an ex-husband brings the story down.

The story is more than just a man and a woman in an over complicated mating dance. Ms. York incorporates a little work twist which throws a kink into Sam’s life. This is expected and the conflict resolves in a manner which is anticipated by the reader with glee. It’s a sweet happily ever after ending which Sam deserves. This kinky book is recommended for readers who enjoy an alpha male chasing and capturing his woman.

Holy Hanna! In my opinion, this is the perfect kind of D/s book for ME. Not for everyone, but someone like me that only likes the elements, but prefers a more romantic twist on the D/s roles.

This was beyond hot. The elevator scenes ratcheted up the tension till I was almost as much of a wreck as the woman was.

There was obvious pain in her past. A Dom that sliced and hacked into her psyche instead of making her feel safe and connected. I really liked that she had to overcome so many fears to make this union work.

And the scenes were off the charts.

And hell, it was FIRST person as well. Which is definitely not my fave kind of book, but it damn well worked.

I'm still fanning my face.

Bravo Mz York.

I was lucky enough to read an early version of Pushing Her Buttons, and that was when I readily became a fan girl of Sabrina's.
Pushing Her Buttons is a really interesting and fun premise of a mystery man, the one that Samantha always sees in her building, the one that creeps into her dreams, makes a staring role in her naughtiest fantasies, and suddenly he's trying to entice her into abandoning her inhibitions and taking a ride on the wide side with him. When she least expects it, Samantha falls for this neighbor whose eyes hold dark promises of exquisite passion.

Word to readers, this book is in first person.

The blurb sounded familiar and I wondered if it was that short book that I never forgot. So I started reading the first page and I was suuuucked right back in and didn't stop flipping (virtual) pages until I was finished. And I loved every minute of it. I loved that packed in tight to just 70 pages it held drama and old trauma, but there was also "like" and "lust" and "trust" and "humor" all mixed in with a persistant Dom wooing a dismissive submissive and everything climaxing into a verrry satisfying HEA. :D

Samantha is tempted by her neighbor but old hurts makes it hard for her to relax and go for it. Very hot beginning to a relationship.

Every sentence was a short sentence. There was not enough variety so I dropped it after a couple of pages.

It was ok, but I am glad this wasn't the first book I had read by Ms York as sadly it probably would have been the last!

Pushing her Buttons, simply erotic! There is however a decent story line but not much considering it is 70 pages. (62 pages without the fluff) It was a little to dirty for my taste, but not everybody has the same thoughts. Even though it had some words I wish were a tad different, it was well wrote. I read it in the span of little over an hour no breaks, it was a good time passer. I would like to read more work from Sabrina York before I discover if I like her writing style or not. But if you are into Erotica, or what people call Smut this is a good book for you!

Reason of 4 stars given, I just didn't like some of the wording and like I said everybody has different outlooks on how they like there Erotica's.

Whew what a hot story! Sam had a rough marriage where he took things too far. She now trys to protect herself from that ever happening again, but a delicious man that lives next to her is testing her limits by being on the elevator almost every time she is on. Things get crazy when truths are revealed, but the chemistry is oh so off the charts! I loved this story!

This book was stupid,

The beginning started off intense, the end was cheesy.

If it was eased into in the beginning, such as more elevator time, more foreplay to the main event it would have been better in my opinion.

I rated it 2.5 stars
