The Witching Pen #2

The Sands Of Time

Rate this book
(Book Two of The Witching Pen Novellas)

Seven days ago, Elizabeth May tried to commit suicide. She was found by Paul, her husband, who took her under his wing and back to their home. But the attempted suicide is not Elizabeth's main problem -- Elizabeth can't remember who she is, or a single thing about her life beyond the past week.

Plagued by nightmares about a familiar black panther, and a terrifying snow leopard, she is convinced that the dreams are trying to show her something important, and is determined to regain her memories, one way or another.

Meanwhile, Pueblo -- the demon blood-bonded to the witch, Amy -- is going insane trying to find her. Amy disappeared one week ago, and it seems not even their bond is strong enough to penetrate whatever magic hides her.

As Pueblo enlists the help of angels and demons alike, Elizabeth begins to piece together parts of her forgotten life. But what she uncovers may just have her wanting to turn away from who she really is ... for good.

Dianna Hardy

Dianna Hardy is an international bestselling author of (cross-genre) fantasy fiction, most notable for her dark paranormal fantasy and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she thrives in the light as much as the dark. Whatever your poison, what she loves most is to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot. She writes full-length novels and short fiction.

Although quite active online, Dianna prefers the quiet company of nature and animals to the hustle and bustle of people. She loves anything paranormal (she doesn't really consider it "para"), organic food, walking barefoot, the smell of the woods after rain, and summer days.

However, she is also sustained by coffee, chocolate and the occasional vodka.

Having graduated from Richmond Drama School (London) in '98, she spent the next few years in a multitude of jobs (both acting and non-acting), studying anything that fascinated her, searching her soul, and finally found her passion where it had always been: at the end of a pen.

She currently lives in South Hampshire, England with her partner and their daughter, where she writes full time.

I reviewed the first book in this series, and I really enjoyed it. It was one of the first few novellas I enjoyed reading. It was a fun and exciting ride the entire time, so I was looking forward to reading this follow up to book 1.

First and foremost I have to say that I really do enjoy the writing style in general of Dianna Hardy. She really has a way of making her books really easy to read, and to so quickly sweep you up into the stories and into the characters. It's so easy to really not only enjoy the story line but also really develop emotions for the characters as well.

Book two does a great job of brining out all the characters you love from book one and then expanding on them. More than that I felt like a lot of the world building happens in The Sands of Time, when you read book one you just kind of get your feet wet with the information about everything that inhabits this world. But when you open this book, you learn so much more about what it is angels, witches, and even demons mean within the confines of this world.

Hardy does a great job with the characters, and not just how they work together as couples but also how they work as individuals. I think one of the hardest things to do when you have a couple is when they are separated, which is the case with Amy and Pueblo. You have to find a way to keep the reader interested in the couple while still keeping the suspense of the separation. Hardy does a great job with this and Pueblo and Amy. Pueblo's frustration at not being able to find the woman he is literally bonded to with blood is so evident in her writing. You really pull for Pueblo to find his way back to Amy. I think you will really enjoy going on this journey with them.

I have really grown to enjoy novellas, and this one is another great novella out there. So if you are looking for a shorter read, but not sacrificing any of the character driven action then this is a series you should certainly try out. I think all paranormal romance readers would enjoy reading this!

Once again the wondrous mind of Author Dianna Hardy has turned out a phenomenal book, in this gem “The Sands of Time” (this one so far is my favorite in the series) book #2 in The Witching Pen Novellas!!! I would personally truly love for this novella to become a full length book, actually it would be real nice that they all be combined together. *flutterz wingz n nods head*

The Sands of Time picks right up where book #1 The Witching Pen left off.
Amy who is a witch/shifter has been kidnapped by Elena’s grandfather, Etienne. He sends Amy to the year 1956 - Pueblo who is blood bond to Amy is searching desperately for her, but he can’t “feel” her anymore !!! Not in HIS space in time…

With the help of Amy’s friends: Elena, Mary, Karl and Gwain they are doing everything to save her.

I’m trying not to give to much away about the story, which is hard for me especially with this novella, because it is sooooo good.

But, I will tell you this, The Sands of Time is not just about one main character, nope there are several!! I counted 6. Some may say more or less. Each person or couple in this case have their own story going on. Each story vital to the complete package that makes up this novella. So much depth.

Pueblo - Shanka demon and human shifter
Amy - Shifter and witch
Gwain - Angel
Mary - ummm, not sure yet :-/
Karl - Angel and human
Elena - Witch (most powerful) and Shanka demon

The Sands of Time has pretty much a taste for everyone’s ideal read, you’ll find shifters, angels, witches, demons, wicked spells, portals, time travel and of course love and betrayal. (yep, I think that just about covers it all) :-D

** This book does have some sexually explicit scenes ** but to me, without them this novella just wouldn’t be the same.

I highly recommend The Sands of Time as a spectacular paranormal romance read!!!

The Sands of Time by Dianna Hardy is the second book in the Witching Pen trilogy.
This book is filled with passion, romance, adventure, suspense, and all things paranormal. It does contain some BDSM. BEWARE AND BEWARNED. The writing is amazing and the story line just flows. I could not put this book down for the life of me. I loved it. I love the characters and finding out about the characters who where in the background in the first novel. This is a very intriguing read that will leave you thirsty for more. I know I am the way the author left the ending! All I can say is that the author has outdone herself her. The second book is even better than the first. I can't wait to read The Demon Bride to see if she surpasses herself again. This author is a author to look out for in the future!!! She has some TALENT! Can't wait to read her other books that are coming out!! I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Did I say that already????

The story leaves off when the group are back at the apartment and trying to figure out where Etienne took Amy. Pueblo is on edge. Gwain and Mary discover more about themselves (wink wink). lol. I really don't want to spoil the twists and turns in the book, because it is an amazing plot and story. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT!! I give this book a RAVING 5 STAR Review and if I could give more I would!!

I received this book from the Author for an honest review.

Again this Author has surpassed my expectations of Novellas! As a sequel to The Witching Pen, The Sands of Time is an Otherworldly Fantasy Romance that continues the story of Elena and Karl but focuses on the building relationship between Amy and Pueblo, a Dessec Demon as well as a budding relationship between Mary and an unexpected Angelic man who knows her better than she ever thought possible. The characters really do come alive and the story pulls you in right from the start. I couldn't put it down!

Who could not love the characters when such raw passion and unbridled love is shared between a group of unlikely friends and new acquaintances while they search for Amy, lost somewhere in time. Mary, facing her own Demonic Dreams and a past filled with self mutilation, finds safety and security for a brief moment in the arms of none other than an Angel foreshadowing what is to come as he plunges into the depths of Hell to save her. I can not wait for the next book!

If you have never read a novella, this series is a definite place to start as it has just enough romance, witchcraft and Fantasy to satisfy even the most avid readers!

I hoped it was possible, and indeed it was; The Sands of Time was just as amazing as The Witching Pen! Hurray! Book two is somewhat darker and sexier than book one, and it still managed to completely hold my attention.

The Sands of Time is a beautifully crafted novella, that once again reads like a book; it has the meat and depth of a full length novel. The characters are intriguing, and it was fascinating looking at the development of Elizabeth's character and her relationship with the endearing Pueblo. I know who would have thought after book one that would be how I described him!

It was equally an eye-opener to follow Mary's character. Geez, I was so taken aback - completely not what I expected - bravo Dianna! It's quite rare that a book effectively drops a major bombshell regarding one of its main characters that I wasn't at least a little bit privy to, yet Dianna managed to successfully blow me out of the water with this one! Just you wait guys!

A phenomenal follow up to The Witching Pen, and a series that is clearly delving into a much darker place. An awe inspiring 5 stars!

“The Sands of Time” is the second book in the Witching Pen novella series. Again the author manages to write a novella with the depth of a full-length novel… and I guess that’s not easy to accomplish.
In The Sands of Time we learn more about the true purpose of the Witching Pen… and a lot more about Amy and Pueblo, their backgrounds and their blood bonding.

I love the variety of beings/creatures and demons/angels in the Witching Pen universe. I had a lot of fun reading the second installment in this series. Amy and Pueblo make interesting and likeable characters and we also meet Elena, Karl, Mary and Gwain again…

It’s necessary to read the novellas in order to fully understand everything that happens in this novella!

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series – “The Demon Bride” – which will be published August 31, 2012.

I really enjoyed the first book of this series, but I must admit this was a stellar second part. In my experience, the second or third book depending on how many there are in the series, kind of lags. Not so in this case. In my opinion this book was actually better than the first.

In the first book you think you have all the good guys/bad guys nailed. Its black and white and you couldn't be more Wrong. That is an absolutely horrid assumption to make. This one lacks the sweetness of the first part and delves into the darker sides of love. It had an ingenious twist dealing with a time loop that has you drooling by the sheer creativity of the author. I admit it. I am absolutely hooked into this story.

We have Elizabeth who has lost all of her memories. She wakes up after apparently trying to commit suicide (her wrist is bandaged) to a life she feels no connection to. She is married to Paul and from his point of view they were extremely happy. So why did she try to kill herself if they were living in wedded bliss? Things don't add up and the only peace she has is when she sleeps. In her dreams she is comforted by a beautiful black cat who wraps her in a sense of familiarity that she lacks in her waking reality.

Pueblo is frantically searching for Amy. He hasn't slept or ate in the two weeks she has been missing. He doesn't feel comfortable with the mismatched group that he has come to know through her. Karl makes him feel humble while Elana, his half-demon/half-witch mate, secretly scares the crap out of him. She is like a bomb that could explode at any minute. He refuses to be around her if Karl isn't there and believes its in everyones best interest that Elena is NEVER parted from him. Look what almost happened the last time. He convinces the group to seek out another sect of demons with magical powers. Amy has literally fallen of the map, so shes either lost in time, or in one of the levels of hell. Piece of cake right? lol!!

Mary is the character that fascinates me the most. We have demons, angels, and witches (oh my!) already in this story, but Mary is on another scale altogether. I am leaning towards dark prophet. That is the best guess I have. Especially when she disappears from jail at the end of the story. Talk about a cliffhanger. This series has completely sucked me in and I cannot wait for the next book!! Dianna has added a dark edge to her story that is seductively addictive. I eagerly await the final taste!!!

BRIEF SUMMARY
Pueblo has bonded with a witched named Amy before she disappeared. He is trying to find her along with the others such as demons, witches and angels that he has befriended. Somewhere else, unknown, a woman called Elizabeth tries to commit suicide and is found by her husband. As time goes on, Elizabeth put the pieces of her life back together to reveal who she really is.

THOUGHTS (May contain spoilers)

This was a good continuation in The Witching Pen novella series. The Sands of Time was more in depth with the characters from the pervious book, as a lot of questions were answered. Elena and Karl from book 1 were involved in book 2 as well as Gwain and Mary. The author periodically gave us scenes with each character and couple as each of their plots develops as we learn more about angels, demons and witches. I would advise the reader to read book 1, The Witching Pen first to get a better feel of the characters.

The Sands of Time picks up from book 1 as Amy, Pueblo's bonded is missing and Pueblo tries desperately to save her. Pueblo is half dessec, half human and a shapeshifter and is working with Elena, Mary, Karl and Gwain to find her. Finding Amy won't be easy, as she is trapped in time. Both Pueblo and Amy's story was good and interesting the way the author shows them separately as well as their union. The only flaw I will say is that I wanted to see them together more within the story. However, make no mistake on how interesting the other story lines are that cohesively worked well as the story becomes darker. For me personally, I felt as though this book showed maturity with each character's charisma.

The other characters have my attention as Gwain and Mary's story is one I am looking forward to as the author began piecing their storyline together. My excitement grows with each book created within The Witching Pen series and I eagerly await book 3.

Storyline: GOOD
Intimacy: GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

Ahh, I really can't express how addictive these novellas are! I was hooked and reeled in from the first chapter and I never put the book down until I was finished. Diannna Hardy writes superbly and I really do think she she has taken the storyline and the characters to a whole other level in this second instalment. I think the trilogy is Hot with a capital H and it's only getting Hotter! What I enjoyed the most was getting to know the super sexy character that is Gwain a little bit better *swoon*! Dianna has set things up beautifully for explosive things to come in the final book 'The Demon Bride' and I cannot freak'in wait!

The Sands of Time picks up right where The Witching Pen left off. Amy is still missing and everyone is doing everything in their power to find her, with no luck. Elizabeth May has lost her memory after trying to commit suicide, her husband Paul, whom she has no memory of is looking after her at their home. She is haunted by dreams that show her things that she thinks might be important.

Elizabeth is determined to claim back her memories at any cost. Could the missing Amy and Elizabeth share something in common? Will Pueblo and the others uncover the powerful magic that hides Amy in time?

Well the ending is spectacular to say the least. For a novella there really is so much going on that there is lots of complex stories going on within the main story. I am in love with this brilliantly imagined world not to mention the truly intriguing characters that I am missing already. If only novellas were longer *sigh*, bring on The Demon Bride!

*I won a copy of this book over @Bookaholics Book Club*

4.5/5 Stars!

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a copy of The Sands Of Time by the author Dianna Hardy for an honest review.

I read and reviewed the first book of The Witching Pen Novellas called The Witching Pen. It was an amazing read. When I wasn't reading I thought about it all the time. Always wanting to know what was happening. I couldn't wait to start the next book in the series called The Sands Of Time.

The Sands Of Time starts where The Witching Pen left off with Pueblo the demon blood-bonded with Amy. He is going crazy trying to find her. Pueblo can't even find her with their bond. He can't feel her. Pueblo knows that if he can't feel her she must be lost in a time loop.

Elizabeth can't remember who she is. Nothing seems familar to her not even her husband. It just does not seem right to her. I mean if two people love each she should have some kind of memory or feel for him, right? but she doesn't. She has dreams of a black panther that she has a physical feeling for. She is very determind to find out who she really is.

The most mysterious character in the book was Mary. I couldn't quiet figure out exactly who or what she is. When she is blamed for murder and put in jail Gwain is the only one that can help Mary with the nighmares that she has. Mary has a problem that no one knows about but Gwain is the only one who knows and can help her after she has one. Gwain becomes very attached to Mary. I hope in the third book of the series The Demon Bride due to be published August 31, 2012 that we find out more about Mary. August seems like a very long time to have to wait for The Demon Bride. I am just like a little kid with a new toy I want to read it now.

Thanks Dianna for letting me read The Witching Pen Novellas.

I got this book from the author herself to give back an honest review.

Wow, just wow is all I can say. The Sands of Time had me from the get go. After reading book one I wanted more and I am so glad I got it. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because to me it deserves it.

I truly enjoyed reading the first book in this series, but I do have to say The Sands of Time was just amazing, the plot, the characters, the sex scenes everything just came together and made this story just perfect. Now I can not wait to read book 3, because where this one left off I do wonder what is now going to happen between Gwain and Mary. And the suspense on why Mary is accused of those crimes.

Summary of The Sands of Time, Elisabeth has lost her memory, now you may ask who is Elisabeth I actually said the same thing myself, but she will be reveled later on in the book. She is plagued by nightmares, and in those nightmares she dreams of a panther and a snow leopard. The Panther wants to keep her safe and she feels the snow leopard wants to kill her.
Pablo who is a demon and blood-bonded with Amy has been searching for her since she disappeared, it is though Amy has vanished from the Earth no one is able to locate her. Pablo is going insane almost.
So with the help of Elena, Karl, Gwain, Mary and a new character they are on the search to find Amy. In the Sands of Time you find a little bit more about Mary who is Elena's friend and works with her in her store. If you truly enjoy reading about witches, demons, angels, and the paranormal I highly suggest you give this novella a try I almost promise you will not be disappointed.

Review 6******

This is the second book in the Witching Pen Novellas, and I thoroughly loved this book!

Elizabeth May is an enigma. She cannot remember her life or why she would want to kill herself. Confused, she struggles to remember something from her life. She is a fantastically strong character, amnesia not withstanding. She knows something is not right, but doesn't know what.

Pueblo is a shape-shifting demon, who is blood bonded to Amy, a witch. He is a typical Alpha male. He is strong, handsome and terrified that he won't find Amy. I love his character! If he can't be my boyfriend, I would certainly love him to be my big brother! Even though he is a half demon, not all demons are bad, and he is definitely one of the good guys.

This is a romance story that captured my imagination, and kept me glued to the pages with the mystery of Amy's disappearance, and Elizabeth's amnesia. However, there were other characters in this tale that have a little side story of their own in this book.
A word of warning. This book does have some sexually explicit and violent scenes that are not for those of a nervous disposition.
There is a twist in this tale that surprised me, because I never saw it coming! If you are looking for a fantastic paranormal romance, then I highly recommend this book and series. I am now looking forward to reading the next story! Dianna Hardy is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, and I will be keeping my eye out for more of her books in the future.

In book two, we pick up with everyone still trying to find Amy. Poor Pueblo, you’re heart just goes out for him. In an effort to find answers to where Amy is, they travel to a demon world to find the Brujii demon, Queen Katarra. Elena finds out that there is always a price for help with demons. Since Amy’s memory has been wiped she is desperately trying to remember not only who she is but why she keeps dreaming of a panther. She knows something is missing, but will have to rely on a stranger to give her answers. During a dream meeting with Pueblo, Amy discovers she’s not just a witch, but a shapeshifter as well. When Amy is rescued by Pueblo, she finds out that there is a lot more to Etienne than she knew.
Mary, Mary, Mary… she is that character that you just can’t figure her out but love her spunk. When Mary becomes the blame for several murders and is put in jail, Gwain is the only one that can help keep her from going crazy because of her dreams. With everyone focused on saving Amy, Mary is taken into another dimension and Gwain is the only one who can save her.
This book was better than the first for me. I just love the camaraderie between the characters and Dianna adds so much mystery and excitement in her book that just gets you hooked. I am very excited for the next one.

The second installment in the Witching Pen Trilogy was wonderful. It was passionate, entertaining and ,truly, a joy to read.

Picking up a week after the last novella, Pueblo is searching tirelessly for Amy who disappeared after the big showdown at the end of the last book. He accidentally blood bonded with her and his inner beast is going crazy without her.

Amy wakes with no memory of who or where she is. She's told her name is Elizabeth but it just doesn't seem right. All she knows for sure is that there's something (or someone) missing from her life. It's only when she dreams that she feels truly whole, because he is there.

I really enjoyed this read. Dianna Hardy does a fantastic job creating a world where demons aren't all bad and the power of a bond can prevail against even the strongest magic. I usually try to stay away from novellas and short novels because I'm afraid there won't be enough time for character or world development but not in this little gem. Not only was I surprised to find an in-depth plot but wonderfully established characters. I cannot recommend this series enough. I'm highly looking forward to the next installment (The Demon Bride) to be released in the summer :)

The second installment in the Witching Pen Novellas, an adult paranormal romance trilogy.

The first book, The Witching Pen, was amazing but this book just stepped onto a whole other level. I was instantly hooked from the first page, and wasn't going anywhere until I finished it. Each reader is in for a roller coaster of a ride, and a few shocks along the way.

One of the best things about this series is how there are many main characters, who all have their part to play and the reader learns more about each one over time. There is so much going on but the reader never feels overwhelmed, just completely engrossed as all the pieces start to fit together.

This book got my pulse racing a few times, and those scenes were essential to the story, but written so well it didn't seem wrong or offensive.

I am now addicted to this series, and can't wait to get stuck into The Demon Bride later tonight (which thankfully has already been released), though then have to wait until next year for the spin-off novel :(

Contains sexual content and some violence, therefore only suitable for the older YA reader.

I received this book from the author in return for an honest review.

I was given an e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second installment to The Witching Pen Novellas. The story starts around seven days after Amy goes missing. Pueblo is doing everything he can to find her.Even with their blood bond, he isn't able to "feel" her. Along with dealing with the hunt for Amy, Pueblo is also fighting with himself over the truth that he has kept from everyone. What him and Amy really are. This is also around the same time that Paul finds out his wife, Elizabeth May, has tried to commit suicide and has also lost her memory. Karl and Elena are still trying to adapt to their new lives. Mary is having painful nightmares, and Gwain maybe the only one that can save her from herself.

If you loved book one, you haven't seen anything yet! This installment is full of suspense, twists, turns, passion, and hatred. It will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I can't wait to read the next installment.

Excellent follow up to The Witching Pen!! I finished it last night; it ended with the perfect connections and BANG. I’m in love with Gwain (just sayin’)…. The diversity in these characters is amazing, I love how different but yet the same they all are! They all come from ‘interesting’ means, not one of them is the traditional “mold” of what they are to be!

There are some excellent connections (the mushy things that make a person’s heart melt) and hot passionate love scenes as well, it’s always nice to have a little spice with love connections.

I love these characters because they reminded me of dysfunctional family. I loved this feel of the book because it reminded me so much of another with the same kind of theme.

I’m curious where Dianna Hardy will go in book 3 and can’t wait to read it! I want to know about Gwain and Mary!

Never before have I read a series where I have been so completely immersed and invested in 3 couples with such diverse (and otherworldly) backgrounds and histories! Karl & Elena, Gwain & Mary, Pueblo & Amy ~ LOVE them all and cannot wait for the 3rd installment to see where their futures lie. I am reminded of the Sookie Stackhouse novels when Charlaine Harris was at her best - sexy, raw and creative with a paranormal flair ~ love it!

The demon mythology that Dianna Hardy has created is truly mesmerizing and the relationships and bonds that are created between beings that have been raised and ingrained to despise one another is remarkable - I read Wilted, The Witching Pen and this novel in less than a week and am at a bit of a loss having to wait until the end of August for the next "chapter" ~ REALLY ENJOYABLE and creative read!

I liked the prequel, enjoyed the Witching Pen book one and am now really building an appreciation of the talent of this author. Sands of Time is a novella with the emphasis no longer on the first couple but now on Amy and Pueblo.
Even though the emphasis shifts, this novella serves as the spice to what promises to be a very interesting and delectable dish. The prequel served as the base of the story and the dish, book one, served as the basic ingredients, wetting all our collective palettes. And the Sands of Time most certainly serves to spice up the dish, I was reminded of the intricacies of a rose as I read this novella, as one after the other petal opens up in new bloom, it serves to bewitch but promise so much more. This is truly a must read for all adult readers with a love for the paranormal.

After finishing The Witching Pen, I was immediately pulled into starting its sequel, The Sands of Time. Like its predecessor it's a novella, and took me just a couple of evenings to gallop through at pace! Picking up the story from The Witching Pen, Pueblo is now searching tirelessly for Amy, and Amy has had her memory wiped, and is hidden in time.

The characters remain the same, and it's nice to have their stories (and pasts) developed as we learn more about them. As with The Witching Pen there is just the right amount of action v romance, a climactic ending and an interesting lead into the next instalment, The Demon Bride, which is out this summer, and which I will be downloading!

Well, the story begins to unfold a little more in book two of The Sands of Time, and we’re introduced to a new character . . . or is she a new character?

If you’ve read book one then you will kinda know who Elizabeth is in this book, but at the same time find yourself asking, “what on earth is going on?” Which is a good thing, because naturally you want to find out, and although I loved this book and my interest was spiking in regards to Gwain and Mary, and I was still very interested in what was going on with Elena and Karl, I really wanted to know what the deal was with Elizabeth/Amy. . . And my god, I didn’t expect that.

One presumes she’s had her memory messed with and is just being lied to, but the truth – as sad as it actually is – is just so much more better, and at the same time, boggling. At first you dislike this man, Paul, who you feel is lying to her, but then, sympathy. So much sympathy. And Pueblo, oh, he is scrummy and the desert scene . . . yum.

I loved the reincarnation angle to this book. The deeper understanding and explanation of soul bonding and blood bonding and how it works. I was extremely impressed with how Dianna made these characters histories interlink and how it all played out. I really wasn’t expecting it.

And then the end of this book, a little violent, but sexy and a little touching and then . . . cliff hanger. Lucky for me, I bought all the books in one go so I could start the next book, “The Demon Bride” straight away. ;-P

All in all, fabulous book. You can slowly start to see how everything is tied up, and why some of the characters are the way they are and have done what they have. Fantastic continuation from the events that began in book one.

The Sands Of Time (The Witching Pen series, #2) by Dianna Hardy

This is my opinion/review. I purchased the book on Amazon after falling in love with the first novella in the series purchased in the same manner. No spoilers!

Category: Paranormal Romance, Adult, 18+
Book: The Sands of Time
Book 2 in The Witching Pen series by Dianna Hardy

After falling for the first book I just had to get the next in line and I am so glad I did. This second installment of The Witching Pen series left me just as hooked as the first with even more great story-line and even more great character development. The book itself is Amy's journey through this adventure along with her beau, Pueblo. Without spoiling it for future readers I'll say that time travel and plot have never looked so appealing or steamy. I will say there is more steaminess in this part of the series than the first which as all adult paranormal romance junkies like myself know, is awesome and keeps us glued and highlighting.
I must say that the author has outdone herself with the style of writing she has chosen. Multiple sides of a story have always appealed to me as a reader and this series has definitely delivered.
Once again I thought the length of this short novella would ruin the authors ability to shed light on any true storyline in such a short time but I was mistaken. She has again shown me that though shorter than most, she still delivers great up and down action that kept me on edge to see what would happen next. 5/5 stars from this reader and I can't wait to see what happens next to this band of characters.

Ebook: The Sands of Time (The Witching Pen Novella’s)
Author: Dianna Hardy
Fiction, Paranormal,
This review may contain spoilers
I was given this by the author for an honest review
Summary: Seven days ago, Elizabeth May tried to commit suicide. She was found by Paul, her husband, who took her under his wing and back to their home. But the attempted suicide is not Elizabeth's main problem - Elizabeth can't remember who she is, or a single thing about her life beyond the past week.
Plagued by nightmares about a familiar black panther, and a terrifying snow leopard, she is convinced that the dreams are trying to show her something important, and is determined to regain her memories, one way or another.
Meanwhile, Pueblo - the demon blood-bonded to the witch, Amy - is going insane trying to find her. Amy disappeared one week ago, and it seems not even their bond is strong enough to penetrate whatever magic hides her.
As Pueblo enlists the help of angels and demons alike, Elizabeth begins to piece together parts of her forgotten life. But what she uncovers may just have her wanting to turn away from who she really is ... for good.
The Review
I liked this one a lot, we got to meet the same characters as in the first book, but now we were focused on Amy & Pueblo, my favourite characters from book 1, I love the bond that each couple seems to have, The author has caught exactly how I would imagine that bond to be like, The plot line was again a work of genius, just like the first one, I loved it so much I have the next book, The Demon Bride on my TBR list, Highly recommend to anyone after a fantastic love story, 5/5

Amy is lost in another dimension. She is trapped in the past as Elizabeth May. Her husband Paul caught her trying to commit suicide and ever since then she lost her memory. Amy remembers bits and pieces through her dreams and from remembering things she likes and doesn’t like. While she is trying to put the pieces together, Pueblo her blood-bond is looking for her with the help from Elena, Karl, Mary and Gwain. They have to find out where or when Etienne took her.

Amy starts to learn the truth once Pueblo finds her in her dreams. She starts to remember that she was kidnapped by Etienne as a little girl. Her memory had been tampered with back then, again from the Dessec and another time by a spell. Adding layers upon layers of memory loss gave her a loophole to find out the truth. She learns the whole truth at the end from Etienne. He has been obsessed with demons ever since his first wife died. He spills all of his secrets to her, in the hope that she can forgive him and to leave her at peace.

Some other events occur during this book concerning Mary. She is tormented by her dreams. To numb the pain away, she hurts herself in the worst possible ways. Then she gets taken into the police station under suspicion of murder. We still don’t know what will happen to her, only that Gwain has an idea what her destiny truly holds. The next book ‘The Demon Bride” will be about Gwain chasing after Mary in the Underworld.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. This book starts right where The Witching Pen left off. Amy(shifter and witch) was kidnapped by Elena's(most powerful witch and 1/2 shanka demon), demon hating, grandfather, Etienne. Etienne(leader of witches counsel) sends Amy to the year 1956 and does a mind wipe, so she remembers nothing. She is supposed to be married to a man named Paul, who knows nothing of what has happened and seems very much in love with her. She keeps having dreams and begins to doubt who she is. Mean time Pueblo(shanka demon and 1/2 human shifter) is going nuts looking for her. With the help of Mary(powers and origin unknown),Gavain(angel),Karl(human and 1/2 angel) and Elena are going to do everything they can to save her including going to meet the demon Queen of Brujii,Katarra, to enlist her help. A bargain is struck and Pueblo sets out to save Amy. Mary is suddenly and inexplicitly arrested or a triple murder and while in jail, after a visit from Gavain, is kidnapped by a demon and taken through a portal to hell. Now Gavain has to go after her. All of this while still everyone is still figuring out their connections and their secrets. This book has spells, witches, demons, angels, portals, time travel, shifters, betrayal, and new found love. This reads like a full length novel, so I would definately reccomend you read it. Loved it.

I was really excited to see the Pueblo would be one of the main characters in Sands of Time. I fell in love with him in The Witching Pen and couldn't wait to see what happened with him and Amy. Amy was kidnapped right at the end of book one, and now everyone is on the hunt to find her. Pueblo shouldn't have a problem tracking her down by their blood bond, but where ever she has been taken, hides her even from him.

Most of the story seems to be told by Elizabeth May - she is the piece of the puzzle that holds everything together in this story. She knows that something isn't right - she's knows that the life she is living isn't her own, but she's not sure how it happened or what to do about it. Her struggle was hard to watch at times as she tried to make her current feelings match what she had been told about her life.

There is a lot happening around Elena as well. She is still new to her new powers, and needs Karl to help keep her balanced. But when something happens to Mary as well, we find a new hero ready to save the day. While this was a great story, there is a time paradox involved and I always struggle with those a little bit.

This second installment in the Witching Pen novellas was a far cry from the surprising and engaging story I came to know and love in the first. Of course all the old flaws are still there from the previous book, but since there's a certain something missing in this one--my interest, for starters--they glared at me the whole way through and outshined my ability to enjoy it. That being said, it was still pretty interesting, and I like how the first strings of the next story's primary focused folded into the dénouement of this one, much the same as the first book. I'm interested in the next story, but I'm not quite as interested I was after finishing The Witching Pen . Still wanna see where it goes, though.
