I recently read Over The Edge by Mary Connealy the 3rd book in The Kinkaid Brides Series. I so thoroughly enjoyed it, that I quickly added the other 2 books in the series to my Christmas list. As I hadn't read them before. I had never read her books before, so I added a bunch of other books of hers to my list too (watch for those reviews in the future). My awesome Mom-in-Law, got me In Too Deep (book 2), and 2 of her other Trilogy books.

In Too Deep is Mary's follow up to Out of Control, the first book in the Kincaid Brides series. I loved book one, the suspense and humor mixture always hooks me right in, but I was anxious to read Ethan's story, because as much as I enjoyed Rafe, Ethan was the one that really intrigued me.
Ethan may be clueless about women, but he's a good hearted soul looking for healing and validation as a man. Audra has been beaten down by pushy men her whole life and she's had enough. Both want to be seen for...more

Mary Connealy has been a favorite of mine among the Christian Fiction genre for some time now. I have loved every book that I've read by her, so far. So, I'm always excited to dive into a new one by the talented Ms. Connealy. Having read Out Of Control, book 1 of The Kincaid Brides, I couldn't wait for Ethan's story in In Too Deep. Like book 1, Ms. Connealy's detail to history is vivid and blended with rich inspiration and complex, heart-stealing characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Connealy makes it effortless to read straight through. Her story is compelling and entertaining. The story tells the relationship between Audra and Ethan as they find themselves shoved into a marriage of convenience. Neither one is looking for love or expecting to find it. The story follows the relationship between the three brothers, Rafe, Seth and Ethan as they try to run family land in an unforgiving wilderness. The interactions between the brothers were a joy...more
After the death of her abusive and wicked husband, Audra Gilliland is determined to become independent and assertive. She agrees to a marriage of convenience with Ethan Kincaid as a way to protect herself, her two daughters, and to get out of her new married step-daughter's home. Audra desperately wants to be able to stand up for herself. After all she does not care what her husband thinks about it. Ethan does not have high hopes for the marriage other than to have a wife who can cook, clean and...more
Book 2 in the Kincade Bride series picks up right where one ended. Whereas book 1 focused on the sparring and lively exchange between Rafe Kincade and Julia Gulliland, book 2 moves on to the relationship between the always smiling middle brother, Ethan and the newly widowed Audra Gulliland (Julia's young stepmother) and her two children. Poor Ethan and Audra are railroaded into marriage by who of course, but Rafe, but both are determined to be good parents for the little ones. The youngest broth...more
In Too Deep is the second installment in the Kincaid Brides series, and is another great read from Mary Connealy. I have been looking forward to this book ever since I finished the first one because Ethan's character intrigued me. The book expands on Audra, Julia's stepmother and her two children as well, and the marvelous plan that Rafe and Julia have for their family members. Rafe is still the planner and solver, so his solution to taking care of Audra and the kids, and providing them with a r...more
Book #2 in The Kincaid Brides "In Too Deep" by Mary Connealy
Wonderful heartwarming story about brothers three and their escapades.
Sometimes witty-sometimes adventurous-sometimes deadly but then they also had hearts of gold just waiting to be refined by three young ladies. Book #1 was the story of Rafe and his Julia, this book tells the story of Ethan and Audra.

When I see the author is Mary Connealy I grab the book is I can, she is an alsome author and I really love her work. This series "The Kincaid Brides" is no different.
Audra is a young widow that was not sad at all of her dirty smelling husband's demise. She had a three year old little daugher and a four week old one. She was now living in the shack with her sister and her newly married husband Rafe. She had no where else to go but where they had build their home was near a mine with many channels...more

"Six full feet of stubborn and another few inches of dumb." (p.34) is an apt description of Ethan Kincaid, Connealy's latest reluctant hero. The descriptor also gives you a sense of the author's unique style and her wry sense of humour. Laughter ricochets off every page like bullets in a cavern. There's a staccato rhythm in both her comedy and drama that sets a fast pace to this intriguing plot.

One of my favorite authors is Mary Connealy. There's always a lot of laugh out loud moments with her down to earth cowboys and their gals. In Too Deep doesn't disappoint. In this story, we see strong heroines, strong heros who get tamed by their strong heroines, and a whole lotta bad guys. While Connealy keeps the story light, there is a deeper, heavier message the author addresses and I felt she did it quite well. She tackled issues of letting the past rule our present and future. How fear grip...more
I couldn't wait to read this one when I found out Book 2 of the Kincaid Bride series was out by Mary Connealy, In Too Deep. This time the story picks up right where Book 1 left off. The Kincaid brothers have just narrowly escaped death after a tracker was sent to locate Wendell Gillilan who has stolen some money from Jasper Henry. Unfortunately Wendell died before revealing the whereabouts of what he stole and where he hid it, but the only clue was it's deep, too deep for anyone to find.

This is the second book in the Kincaid Brides series and this time features Ethan and Audra. Where the first book features Rafe and Julia who are both very strong willed people who are use to giving orders, Ethan and Audra are more the peacemakers who grin and bear it. Before I go into the review I want to make comments on Out of Control by Connealy also. Both books are part of The Kincaid Brides. I won Out of Control in a blog contest a while ago and decided to finally read it before reviewing In Too Deep.
Minor spoilers included: Out of Control introduces us to a cave; the three Kincaid brothers, Rafe, Ethan, and Seth; and archaeologist/cave explorer Julia, her stepmom (more like a sister) Audra, and Audra’s tw...more

Seth always seemed to be a bit loco after a cave accident they had as children. WOW!!!! :-). Gee whiz!!!! :-). "In Too Deep," the second novel included in The Kincaid Bride Series is a SUPER, SMASH HIT!!!! :-). I ABSOLUTELY ADORED the continuing saga that intertwine the lives of the Kincaid brothers and their growing family!!!! :-). Because I knew nothing about Mary Connealy and her work when she introduced me to Rafe and Julia, Ethan, Audra, Maggie, and Lily, and Seth in "Out of Control," I found it rather difficult to become attached and root for happy endings for any one...more
"In Too Deep" picks up where "Out of Control" left off. "In Too Deep" features Ethan Kincaid the second in the line of three Kincaid brothers.

Another great book from Mary Connealy!
A thrilling sequel, picking up right where Out of Control left off, In Too Deep tells Audra & Ethan's story.
In my opinion, this is one of those books where you really should read the first book, first. Because alot of this book leans on the the relationships, and trials that began in the first installment of the series. Plus, Out of Control is just way too cool to miss!

In this book we meet some secondary characters from book 1. Audra and Ethan marry to the benefit of both of them. But are afraid to love and afraid they are cowards in life. The cave is brought back into the story and is just as "evil" as in the first book. Make sure you read the first book or this book will be a bit confusing.

Audra's father married her off to Wendell Gilliland in trade for money that he owed the man. Now that Audra's husband, an abusive man, a drunk, a gambler, and a thief to name a few attributes, is dead, she has to decide what she's going to do now. She owns two properties, one in Rawhide, CO and her ramshackle cabin where she lived basically alone with her step-daughter and two babies while Wendell spent most of his time in town running a General Store, at least he told her it was a General Store...more
This story has me intrigued. I will definitely be rereading it soon. Unfortunately for me I have not read the first book in the series, so when I began to read it, I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a book. As the story progressed, I was able to follow along better and figure out what was going on.

I so wish I'd read the first book so I could've spent more time with these delightful characters. Starting on book 2 wasn't difficult, though. Mary Connealy does a great job of starting the story with enough hints that you don't feel lost. Even though I hadn't read the first one, I could understand why Audra wouldn't be excited to be married to flippant Ethan. Of course, Ethan isn't nearly as cavalier as he pretends and the love of a good woman might be all he needs to straighten up.

After reading Over The Edge, I knew I had to finish the story in the next two books. I was very excited when I found the Kindle version of this book on sale at Amazon for $3.00 so of course I purchased it and read it. I really enjoyed it!! I felt like there wasn't near as much suspense/action as the first book in the first portion of the book, but the second half and end got very suspenseful, so I liked the second half best. Though my favorite book in the series so far is the first book, due to...more
Colorado. 1866. Ethan Kincaid is doing his best to block childhood memories, but it’s hard now that he’s back on the ranch with his two brothers: overbearing eldest brother, Rafe, and the loco youngest brother, Seth. Problem is, it’s his fault Seth went crazy. He remembers. Still, Ethan has a smile for every occasion. Not because he’s happy but because it’s a mask he can hide behind.

Nobody does dysfunctional heroes and heroines like Mary Connealy. She doesn't hold any punches when listing their faults-if a character is acting like schmuck, then Mary is going to point it out with her cutting humour and wise cracks. Consequently, her witty dialogue reads like verbal sparring that will leave you in stitches yet calling for more.

Oh, that Ethan! He's grinning all the time, trying to hide his fear of the cave, his aversion to family feuds, and his guilt over his brother's insanity. So when his brother bullies him into marrying Audra and her babies, he grins and goes along. Funny thing though, he falls in love with his new bride and her babies. Only since this is a Mary Connealy book, Ethan has to suffer some mayhem along the way. His brother has nightmares. Outlaws think his new wife knows where the treasure is. And easyg...more
This 2nd in the series of Kincaid Brides is much better than the first. The main characters are more likable and much nicer to each other, instead of the usual bickering that goes on between a lot of Connealy's couples before they end up loving each other by the end of the story. The third in the series,"Over the Edge", sounds even more promising as it deals with the youngest brother, considered "loco", who we learn at the end of this book, has a wife he can't remember! There is more humor in th...more

I wrote my first book when I was about twelve. A romance novel. I shudder to think what a twelve year old could know about romance. I have no idea what happened to the manuscript. I suppose my mother found it, and burned it while screaming in horror, but I’ve always been afraid to ask. Was it a hundred pages? Two? I have no idea, but I seem to remember just writing FOREVER! So I’m guessing two pag...more
