She put her hand to her chest, still unable to breathe.
He had dark hair and a beard, ripped pants, a dirty suit coat and wore such an intense expression of pursuit on his face, she just knew—
He was going after Alan Martin.
And she might never see him again.
No. Not again.
Not ever again.
He passed her, didn’t even look at her, his gaze pinned on Martin, who’d vanished down the stairs.
And that’s when she found her voice. With everything inside her, she let it out, praying he heard it through his haze of fury.
“York!”

Her nightmares just might be real…

The worst has happened—but RJ refuses to believe it, and until she has proof, she’s going to keep searching for answers.

But the past won’t stay quiet, and it’ll take a trip back to Russia, to York’s past to find the answers that will save lives...the kind of answers that dig up the secrets and lies that have embedded York’s life.

And even then, does RJ have what it takes—with, or without the man she loves—to save the world from Martin’s terrible plan?

The riveting conclusion to the epic adventure of RJ and York!

I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. And, if you're interested, sign up for my newsletter, a quarterly sneak peek into upcoming releases and projects. Thank you for your interest and support.

God Bless and Happy Reading!

Wow. No other words describes this book and this series better. And the ending 😳 I can’t say anything else without spoiling something but seriously, whether you love Susie May already or are just in for a thrilling adventure, check this series out. Stick out the rough parts in book 1. You’ll love it, I promise.

It's hard to remember the last time I read an entire book in one day, but this one did it to me. Yes, it's on the shorter side, but wow ... stopping wasn't much of an option with this one.

Characters: Okay, I was a bad reader. I'll admit it. I didn't read the first two books in this series, and coming into this, I was pretty confused. But after a little bit (and accepting that it was okay to be a bit perplexed), I caught on. RJ and York are two of the most interesting and action-filled characters I've read about in a long time. They were separated through a good portion of the book, but it was good to see them by themselves so I could attempt to get a grip on their characters. RJ was wild - no, she wasn't the super-spy York was, but she still had some tricks up her sleeves. And York ... you all know how I feel about spies. Let's just suffice to say, he was pretty cool. Oh, and did I mention he was a spy in Russia?? Susan May Warren knows how to make me like a book. And the host of side characters also took a second to get a grip on - I think a lot of them were from other books that I have yet to read. However, I was so intrigued by even the badguys/side characters. They seemed so real and alive.

Setting/Writing Style/Plot: Yes to international intrigue! I loved traveling over Europe, and I may or may not have been extremely excited with York was walking around Russia with all the smoky bars and old Soviet-era apartments. So much fun. And of course, the writing style was really fitting for this book - quick, snappy, but full of lots of descriptions, too. The plot ... yeah, I did get confused. But once I accepted the confusion and just let the action roll, it was epicness. Yeah, I went there. So much action, and while it was a little overdone, I was all there for it. Can I just mention how glorious the reunion scene was? Outrageously epic, and perfect for RJ and York. These people are so fun.

Theme: Such a gorgeous thread of truth spun through all the intrigue, and that was trusting the Lord through all areas of life. Not planning out some perfect life for yourself, but trusting God through it and His Will. The parts about the Jesus being a High Tower and all the connections there were brilliant. So good.

Overall: If you haven't realized yet, I so enjoyed this book. Yeah, it was a little overdone, and some of the romance was also a bit on the ... interesting side. Could've done without too much of that. But I so enjoyed this wild ride with RJ and York - now I need to go find some more books by Susan May Warren. An excellent read.

What an absolutely satisfying conclusion to this trilogy! Learning more about York's past and how that has influenced him peeled back more layers to this dynamic character, and his relationship with RJ deepens as they become more in sync with their desires for the future. The plot is suspenseful, with more twists, turns and surprises that had me gripping my Kindle as I read! Epic is the perfect word for this series and I loved every moment of the wild and crazy ride. I'm amazed at the author's skill in immersing me completely into the setting and emotions of the characters, feeling what they are feeling as I read- my favorite kind of reading experience! I love these characters and was so happy and relieved with their happily-ever-after.

I have loved this series so much! It was such a wonderful combination of intrigue, spies, clues to unravel, and danger threaded into the love story of a couple who have been through so many life threatening situations in their time together. As they work to uncover and defeat the masterminds behind all of the terror and destruction that has been following them, while also trying to thwart any imminent plans that may be in the works, York and RJ must discover where they belong as they move into the future.

Throughout this whole series, I have loved seeing York's heart and his love for RJ. In this last novel, however, he is so much the spy and man of action that he was when RJ met him that I felt like it brought things full circle.

I loved every part of this story! There were some amazing and intense action scenes and some truly swoon worthy moments of romance between these two. I loved the way the author tied everything up and am always amazed at how she connects various book series and events together. I loved the epilogue. I hope that some of the side characters that we have met will get their own stories someday, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

York awakens to find that RJ has vanished, she left him while he was unconscious to rescue a little girl from the crossfire.

Picking up from the cliffhanger in the previous book, RJ finds herself over her head and out of her element, while York is desperately trying to find her before the terrorist Alan Martin does. I loved that addition of Ziggy and how meeting helps RJ put her own life into perspective as well.

A thrilling addition to the series, with a special cameo from another popular Christian fiction series! The cliffhangers made it nearly impossible to put down!

Wow, I feel so lucky to have been able to read all three of the books in this series right in a row with no stopping. Because honestly? Stopping and waiting in between would have been the worst. Epic story is right.

This book was crazy. Absolutely crazy. RJ and York are crazy smart, crazy brave and crazy in love. The ending was crazy squared but we finally reached the end (or a new beginning) for RJ and York and I do love happily ever after endings. These two have been through so much it was good to get to a settled, happy place with them. I'm glad they didn't die. :)

Content: violence, peril, death, kissing. Christian elements.

I don't know what to say about this book except that it was everything it needed to be and ended the most perfect possible way. What we were hoping for from the Epic Stories of York and RJ were exactly delivered.

I loved: seeing a Marshall brother show up, the way the mystery kept me guessing until the end, York and RJ surrender to the Lord, and (maybe this was in the second book) but hearing more of York's testimony and seeing the before and after more up close.

With characters we love, suspense that doesn't let up, and truth we can cling to, this was a home run from SMW.

'Maybe that's what this whole adventure had been about, frankly. Trusting God, not just for the end game, but for every step. When she couldn't see her next step, when it all threatened to wash over her, pull her under. When all she could see was darkness.'

I really don't even know how to begin this review. Not only for No Matter the Cost, but the entire three book series. I read each book in on day. I will never tire of reading a book by Susan May Warren. I love Christian fiction and I read it not only to read a good book, but to be blessed by the spiritual thread, and nobody does that better than her. I've always said that she takes me to church with her books. It's true. This one, with one quote, ministered to me so much. I love when this happens!

RJ and York. What can I say? One of the best fictional couples ever, that's what. The love Warren has crafted between these two is absolutely amazing to see on the pages of a book. She allows us to see inside their very souls. When I finished this last book in the series, I just I just sat there, my heart so incredibly full. Not to mention the absolutely terrifying action-packed scenes! I mean, how many times can a character escape danger? I'm a huge suspense fan and this is edge of your seat all the way, over the top! I was gasping so much, clutching my heart at other times. Well done!

These are for the keeper shelf and destined to be read over again and again. Bravo!

My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is expressly my own.

No Matter The Cost by Susan May Warren is the thrilling conclusion to The Epic Story Of RJ And York series which needs to be read in order as each book follows on where the last one left off.
The action comes thick and fast as we follow the characters across Germany. Unsure of what the future holds, the characters learn to trust a certain God with an uncertain future.
There are still those threatening to derail lives. Battles become personal as figures from the past pop up.
This has been an exciting series that would translate perfectly into action suspense movies.
Trust is in short supply as suspicion falls at the feet of some – is this a tactic to divert attention? Read the book and find out.
This has been a totally thrilling series guaranteed to raise your heartbeat as you speed towards the conclusion.
I recommend buying all three books at once – because once you finish each book, you will want to start the next book in this three-book series. Invest in the series today.

This series should be read in order, or you will miss major events! So please go and read Out of the Night (The Epic Story of RJ and York #1) by Susan May Warren before reading this one.

The Epic Story of RJ and York picks up where the Montana Marshall series and Global Search and Rescue series end so it will be best to have read those series first, however the author does recaps on the highlights to get new readers caught up.

What an awesome final installment. And it was great catching up with some of RJ's brothers.

Up to this installment, York fought against his past and wanted a chilled life with no action. In this final installment we are spoiled with York 007. There is action, action and so much action. Surprising reveals and twists and satisfying conclusions.

I loved this spy series featuring RJ and York, and again, not really ready to say goodbye to them, though I know there is so many adventures still to come from Susan May Warren.

********************************************

If you enjoy audiobooks, you should not skip these audiobooks, because it is the best audios I have listened to. The narrator Adam Gold has the most beautiful deep voice, delivers the telling brilliantly and the added spy affects just adds to an entertaining read.

The perfect conclusion to Susan May Warren's thrilling new trilogy! No Matter the Cost, the third and final installment in The Epic Story of RJ and York, is everything fans of Susan May Warren's could have hoped for and more. The entire series is phenomenal, but No Matter the Cost is my favorite of the series. I was thrilled to discover that my very favorite Marshall brother plays a role in this book. If you are wondering which brother, be sure to pick up a copy of this book!

This international story of intrigue, unending love, and devotion to one’s country is one that readers will not want to miss! The journey back to Russia on the hunt for a terrorist ramps up the suspense along with secrets from York's past. Susan May Warren's connections with previous stories and characters keeps longtime readers fully invested and feeling like they are visiting old friends.

No Matter the Cost is highly recommended for readers of action-filled romantic suspense.

What a perfect finishing note to York & RJ’s story!!!! You’ll fly through this action-packed read at breakneck pace, but I also love the little pockets of space that are sprinkled through the story for the characters to just be… All in all, a very satisfactory ending, both in terms of the plot & emotionally! But be warned, this book won’t give you a break emotionally all the way to the end!!!

I love the spy vibes, and all the Alias references!! And I just love RJ & York. If you’re looking for a quick, easy read that has suspense and depth to the story, then this mini series is exactly what you’re looking. Highly recommended!!

Man! Talk about a whiz bang finish! I think of the three books in the Epic Story of RJ and York (can we just talk for a minute about what a great series title that is??), this one edges out the first book as my favorite. I liked the locale of the first book a bit better, but this last one was filled with all the action and adventure I was craving.

This is my formal plea to more Christian fiction authors to write fiction set in Europe. The setting is amazing, ripe for intrigue and romance and teaming with adventure--all of which this book has.

The ending felt a bit abrupt to me, though to be fair, there is a link to download an additional epilogue, which I opted not to do. All in all, a great series, fast reads, both in pace and in length. Well enjoyed and would recommend!

OH MY GOODNESS! Hold on to your seat... or really the pages of this book because this trilogy is a ride!!! I love seeing the growth of RJ (Ruby Jane) in this series. Her character has always been so unpredictable that her character arc has been so entertaining to read. I hesitate to share too much in this review because I don't want to give any spoilers. Just know that you NEED ALL OF THESE BOOKS!

This trilogy needs to be read in order. That I can't stress enough!!

To avoid ruining the amazingness of this trilogy I will say if you enjoy high suspense, swoony romance, intriguing mystery and plots that will blow your mind-then you absolutely should be adding this entire trilogy to your cart right now!

This finale was nothing short of amazing!!

Content: mild violence

Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

No Matter the Cost by Susan May Warren is a spy novel that really ends the series well. Just like the previous two books in the series. Plenty of action with a hint of romance from the previous two books. Right from the beginning RJ finds herself on a mission to solve the cliff-hanger from the second book’s ending. I love how Warren keeps moving the characters through more and more suspense. Now that all three stories have been published, it is nice to look back and see the wonders of what the overall story was. Nicely handled with deep characters that I empathized with and plenty of suspense to keep me flipping through the stories. I read all three books in three days. I could not get enough. I want paper copies to slip onto my Warren shelf. I highly recommend readers who love plenty of action and deep characters to pick up these novels and read them.

Ah-mazing! When’s the movie?!

But seriously though, this trilogy is a nail-biting, action-packed suspense and I only wish there was more to read. It has the perfect twist of mystery and romance – which hello, how can it not be romantic when you’re in Europe? I truly didn’t want to put it down. My emotions were across the board as I read these books from the very first page to the very last. I laughed, I cried a little, even got mad a few times. Every time I thought I knew where she was taking this mystery, she’s surprise me. Susie May once again delivered another breathtaking story and even better these are about two of my favorite characters ever. She even threw in a couple surprises that made me reminisce her older books. Even if you haven’t read any of her more recent books from the last couple of years, this trilogy is still worth diving into – just make sure you’ve got your favorite drink and a comfy place to settle into because you won’t be able to put it down once you begin The Epic Story of RJ and York.

No Matter The Cost is the final installment in the Epic Story of RJ and York series. Book two gave readers a bit of a reprieve, but this novel bumps up the suspense and action once again. There’s a chase scene in this story that is epic, and yet there’s a bit of humor thrown in to help readers calm their nerves for a moment. The mystery villain and the reason for this person’s treachery are revealed in the end. As in the two previous books in the series, there is sweet romance between RJ and York, and readers get to see a gloriously tender side of York. This is a great series and made me so happy to see my favorite characters in action again. I just hope this isn’t the last time we get to have an adventure with this spectacular couple. I received an advance read copy for review, but I’ll be ordering the paperback as soon as I can.

"York. This entire time, we forgot that God is with us. He has not abandoned us. And he won't abandon us. I know God will fight for us, even if we don't ask him, but how much more will he come to our aid when we are kneeled, together, as one, depending on him?"

No Matter the Cost is the thrilling conclusion to RJ and York's story. It really is all that I imagined, and more. Everything that needed to happen did, and tied the whole story up perfectly in the end.

RJ's worst nightmare has happened. Again. And York just might be lost to her, forever. After all, people don't usually survive falling hundreds of feet off a cliff. But RJ can't--won't--believe he really is dead, and she will stop at nothing to find answers...and the man can't live without. York, on the other hand, knows that the only way he will finally be free is to stay dead long enough to uncover the truth. Oh, and they might just have to save the world while they're at it. No biggie.

This one was hands down my favourite out of the series. The story was jam-packed with action, suspense, undying love, and a strong faith. RJ experiences a lot of of character growth throughout the series, and finally realizes what she wants out of life. We learn more of York's story (or maybe that was in book two?), and see both RJ and York learn the true meaning of peace and surrender. I always love how Susan May Warren brings back characters from her other novels, and enjoyed seeing multiple "friends" pop in to help throughout the book. Not only did Tate Marshall make an appearance, but we also got to see President White and the Caleb Group again and even got some hints that we may see more of this plot unfold in the last book of the Sky King Ranch series. I'm also crossing my fingers for a series, or at least a novel, about Roy and Ziggy in the future, as it seemed like there was more to that story than we saw here.

If you enjoy Susan May Warren's novels, or you just like a good romantic suspense, you won't want to miss this series! That said, I'd highly recommend reading the Montana Marshalls series and at least the first two books of the Sky King Ranch series first. Or just all of SMW's books. You can thank me later. ;)

The Epic Story of RJ and York is a trilogy but you're going to read it like one giant book because where one ends another begins! Let's dive in!

First.  If you've not read The Montana Marshalls series you're going to want to read those.  While you can read this series without that backstory you're going to want the backstory.  The Montana Marshalls cover the lives of all the Marshall siblings one of which is Ruby Jane.  And you want to know Ruby's story before you meet her in this series.  Trust me.  While this trilogy does try to provide you with the bare bones so you can follow along it's not going to be enough!

There is never going to be enough of these guys!  Okay, so maybe I'm biased!  Also yes this really is so exciting that I have to use all these exclamation marks.

No Matter the Cost

No Matter the Cost is the third book in the trilogy of The Epic Story of RJ and York.  You're going to love this conclusion.  It's intense and just keeps you on your toes and biting your teeth til the end when you breathe a deep sigh and enjoy the rest and peace that comes.

This book starts with York dead.  Or is he?  RJ believes that he isn't but everyone else thinks he is.  RJ is going to prove that he's alive.

And again RJ's cousin is everywhere.  And danger still follows her.  Who wants her dead?  Could her cousin possibly be behind this?  Surely not! He's a Marshall after all.  Even if he is a movie star.  And everywhere that she is.

Someone is trying to kill the president.  Can RJ save everyone?  Is she truly cut out to be a spy?  What about the young girl?  She deserves a home and a family?  RJ and York are a team and she needs her other half.

This was so good.  I will honestly read this series again.  So much nuance going on and there is just so much!  It's amazing.  Well written and the characters are flawed but yet perfect for each other and the story.  I'm sad to see them go and really hope we focus on cousin Marshall and his family in the new series.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

Wow, what a whirlwind of action and suspense happens in this last book of the series of RJ and York.
My head is spinning with all the many events and heart-stopping moments that happen in this book! I had to put the book down a couple of times just to breathe and remember that I wasn’t one of the characters hanging on for dear life!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I'm at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books.
Her books are so full of suspense, non-stop action, romance, drama, running for their lives, kidnapping attempts, shootings and so much more!
Whatever Ms. Warren writes I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing.
This series has been so fun to read and I’m now going to go back and read the Sky King Ranch series based in Alaska since she put a teaser in this last book.
If you like stories that will keep your heart pounding and you stuck to your chair until you finish, then this is the book and series you need to pick up.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ahh what a lovely series. I loved how Susan May took all the loose ends from the previous series (Montana Marshalls) and tied them all off, in such a nice way. Also the epic story of York and RJ :) so nice!

Mystery, suspense and love!

I am now actually invested enough to hope that some other characters also have a romance.

Now i found out that there is an extra series of 5 books called the Minnesota Marshalls, the cousins!! Looking forward to that!!!

My thoughts: This is the third book in SMW's newest series. Fans wanted more York and RJ and she was happy to comply. I will admit to some surprises along the way and the who-dun-it surprised 'me. I love Ms. Warren's books but I am so NOT in a hurry to get to Europe or Russia. I'm quite happy traveling by book. The story is well written and engaging and I loved the ending. If you love romantic suspense thrillers you won't want to miss this collection. But make sure you read them all in order, starting with the last book in the Marshall family series, RJ. Well, actually you will want to read that series first. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

No Matter the Cost
Epic Story of York & RJ #3
By Susan May Warren

York isn't dead RJ knows this - now she just has to find York and stop whoever has put the bounty on him. No problem she just has to get into the inner workings of the dark web. Can she become the spy she's always dreamed of being to rescue the man she loves?

RJ needs answers and there is only one way to get them. She needs to get to know the York that he used to be. But will learning about his darkest moment help her to find the man who seemed to fall to his death before her very eyes?
But can she claim the life that York wanted to leave behind and not pay a terrible cost?

No Matter the Cost is the conclusion to The Epic Story of RJ and York, a story that began in Ruby Jane (of The Montana Marshalls - yes, you should read how it all began). This is a journey of love and one that is evolving as the journey takes them across the globe. And the stakes are higher than either RJ or York if she can't handle what is involved on this mission she has to take. This is one conclusion you don't want to miss - it is epic!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.

Award-winning author Susan May Warren continues the story of Ruby Jane (RJ) and York, started in her earlier The Montana Marshals series.

In No Matter the Cost, former CIA analyst RJ Marshall struggles with the supposed death of her husband, national security agent York Newgate. Since York’s body wasn’t found, she doesn’t believe he is really dead and she seeks answers. In the meantime, there is a terrorist to stop as well as secrets from York’s past to unravel. Can she set aside her grief to discover who put a hit on York AND can she stop a madman’s plans before it is too late?

Warren continues the action-packed story which takes place in Europe and Russia.
Whether RJ and York will have a future together depends on what happens when (and if) they stop the terrorist’s plans. After years of spycraft, can they set aside the adrenalin rush to settle down to a “normal” life. Readers who enjoyed the TV series Alias will also appreciate the references to it.

Warren writes realistic, flawed characters and a riveting storyline. Like her other books, the final book in The Epic Story of RJ and York series has a clean romance, tightly-written suspense, faith journeys, and non-stop adventure.

Recommended for adult collections and high school readers. Romantic suspense fans, especially fans of Warren’s Montana Marshals series, will want to grab all 3 books!

I liked how we finally concluded this adventure and that they were able to stop the plot. I liked how they both went different directions to find away to stop what was going to happen. I also really liked how the both realized that they need a little adventure in their lives but maybe not as much as the spy game gives them. I liked how their relationship grew and became stronger throughout these books and I really liked that it was a fun story to read.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

“No Matter The Cost” is the final book 3 in this brand new trilogy. RJ (Ruby Jane) and York are part of the “Montana Marshalls” series so although these 3 books are grouped together, reading the Montana Marshalls series first would make the characters more enjoyable in my opinion.

This thrilling, non stop action conclusion to this series kept me guessing as RJ and York are still trying to outrun a terrorist. Full of suspense, clean romance, kidnapping attempts, shootings… what more could you want?

Author Susan May Warren is an amazing author who brings her characters and stories to life. LOVE this series-I truly can’t say enough good things about it!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Will they complete the mission or die trying?

Well, that was quite a conclusion! Susan May Warren sure knows how to finish things of with a bang! All of the threads from the previous books in the series came together and to a head in Whatever The Cost in a pretty spectacular and riveting way that made it pretty much impossible to put my e-reader down. I HAD to know any of my suspicions about certain characters were correct or not, if the free world would be saved, and most importantly if RJ and York would finally get their happily ever after...

(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
