I bought this guide as an introduction to Iceland before setting off on my first trip there.
Its chapter "The best of Iceland" gives you a good snapshot of the country and a taster of what's to come. Chapters on the history, nature, etc give an overview while chapters on particular areas take the island in turn.
The guide has plenty of photographs which although they give a good idea of the surroundings, I don't think they are particularly stunning.
