This book started a little rough for me. I didn't like Kerwin and the way he treated Amber had me fuming. After stopping a couple of times, I forced myself to keep going and I'm glad that I did. I ended up really enjoying this story and the characters.
Amber came to New York to get a foot in the door with an ad agency. As an intern, she hoped to learn about the business and maybe get ahead of the game when a new position opened up. She ends up becoming a personal assistant for Kerwin which ends up being coffee runs, running errands and deflecting the women in Kerwin's life. She ended up becoming his work wife, managing his days, reminding him of important appointments, etc. But that wasn't enough, she wanted to do more and she had tons of ideas, if he would just listen. Then, out of the blue she gets an unexpected promotion and now she is Kerwin's boss. Amber thought for sure that he would be furious or quit. She didn't expect his reaction.
Kerwin has been Amber's boss for two years. He knows that she is intelligent and beautiful, but could never act on it. He knows that even though she has been promoted, nothing has really changed. Because of corporate policy, they still aren't allowed to be together, but he has to try. Kerwin decides that he has to let her know that he is interested in her. Hopefully she won't think that it's because of her change in circumstances that he is making a move.
I kind of ended up adoring Kerwin. I will take him as my book boyfriend now, thank you very much! He was so patient even when he wanted to push harder and then willing to do whatever he could to make it easier for Amber. Loved that Amber wanted him to be happy as much as he wanted her to be happy. Loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book!

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance between Amber and Kerwin, two people who meet at an advertising agency and fall in love with each other without telling the other one about it. There are lots of twists and turns in their romance and work careers, but I like how the story ends with them being together.

This is an amazing storyline that flows smoothly from beginning to the end. The characters are well developed and engaging and the chemistry is off the charts. I loved tha hot alpha male and the sexy and sassy female that keep him on his toes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. McKenna James is a gifted author she creates stories with layers and depth. This office romance is not an ordinary one, it is so much more. The characters are complex and nicely developed, they are realistic and easy to relate to. Amber came to New York to work for an ad agency, she got her foot in the door starting as an intern, she wanted to continue to work there so she took a job as personal assistant to Kerwin. She was with the company for two years and felt she was wasting her talent as a PA but every time she tried to speak up to give her idea Kerwin ignored or sidetracked her. She found a friend in Ed, an older gentleman she saw around work, she spent some of her lunch breaks with him in the park just chatting. I loved how everything plays out in this book, how Kerwin first comes off as an arrogant jerk and once we get to see his true colors he was so much more and Amber how she starts off timid and shy and then starts to grow into her own as she gained confidence. There is never a dull moment in this book, it is greatly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, twists and turns that puts a wonderful spin on things. Mckenna James, thank you for this great book.
I listened to the Audible edition, Addison Barnes She does a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work, she captures the character’s emotions and projects it into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. I listened to this on audiobook.
This was a fun and lightweight story to listen to, nothing too taxing, just what I wanted.
I enjoyed the story for the most part, thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the two main characters of Amber and Kerwin, experiencing their story together, they certainly had plenty of chemistry as evidenced with the love hot scenes. The story was a bit OTT and unbelievable in some places but as long as you don’t take it too seriously and just enjoy the story for what it is, then all is good.
I said that I liked the story for the most part, for me the story ended when Amber and Kerwin got their happy ending and made it official and in my opinion that’s where it should have ended. Instead the last two chapters or so contained them getting older, having children and their children getting older, admittedly it was a quick stop tour of that, but for me it ruined the story.

She's more than qualified to be part of the marketing team and has very constructive ideas she would like an opportunity to share. She tries to get Kerwin to listen to her ideas and to allow her to attend their meetings so she can participate and show him that she can add value. Amber is friendly with an older man named Ed. One night, Ed collapses. She stays beside him and waits for the ambulance, genuinely concerned with her friend’s welfare. She learns eventually that Ed has died. But he was actually the owner of the company and has left her a majority share. Along with her promotion, she now becomes Kerwin’s boss! Will she retaliate against him for his treatment of her? Or is this her chance to show him that she truly does have value to the company and ideas that are worth listening to? And maybe this could lead to other possibilities for both of them.
This was an interesting situation for an interesting story line. There are so many directions the story could go, so grab your copy and see what Amber will finally choose to do.

One night while they were working late at the office on a project she finds her friend Ed lying on the ground, she calls ER and they save him.
The next day she is called to the office of her boss, Helen, who informs her that she has been promoted. And it is that she didn’t know that Ed was the owner of the company.
Her new position makes her Kerwin’s boss. From then on he seems to notice her more than before, they even go out to eat and without realizing they end up sleeping together.
Ed dies and leaves the company to Amber, but Ed’s children don’t agree that she inherited the company, so they will do their best to remove it from her and use her relationship with Kerwin to achieve it.

When I started this book, I didn't know what to expect. I like going in cold and seeing what a story brings. Well, it brought me Kerwin, the boss who was not a nice guy. Amber is trying to get herself promoted, and working tirelessly at the side of Kerwin is not only making her love him, but is holding her back. Until her life changes. All of a sudden, she is promoted above him, and now her reports to her. And talk about a change! Can she trust him? Does he just want to get on her good side? How will she handle her new role? I loved this role reversal for a couple of reasons, but I won't bore you with that! I will say loved the way Amber jumped in to help Ed, not realizing how it would effect her. I loved the interesting characters, It was easy to invest my heart in Amber and Kerwin and I love the the outcome. And I felt happy. When a story can do that for you, you know it's a good listen.
Addison Barnes is amazing, and I loved her performance. She always brings out the best voices and finds the qualities in each portrayal of the characters. She has a soothing tone and it's a comfortable listen. The best kind!

One night changes everything at the office
Inheritance Reversal is the third book I have read by Mckenna James and I have liked her storytelling and writing style. This is a sweet and clean with barely any steam office romance story but with a nice twist. Amber is the Personal Assistant to Kerwin. She is definitely struggling with her life and also the job. Kerwin is a bit of an azz with her as she is wants to advance in the company and show she can be a valuable member of the marketing team. But Kerwin is not allowing her the opportunity to participate or even listen to any of her ideas.
One night everything changes and Amber inherits the majority share of the company, making her Kerwin's boss. Now the question is how do they each proceed with this turn of events?

Amber is Kerwin's PA at a Whitten Media Corporation. She is trying to get him to let her sit in on some of the client meetings so she could present some of her ideas, but he isn't cooperating. Working late one night, Amber finds Ed, an elderly man she is friends with, collapsed on the break room floor. She calls an ambulance and looks after him until help arrives. Two weeks later Amber is summoned by the company's CEO and told that she is being promoted. She will now be shadowing the CEO. I turns out that Ed was the owner of the company. Then Amber is told that Ed has died, and that he left her a majority share in the company. What's going to happen with Kerwin?

This story started out great and I was loving where the author was going. The story starts with Amber working for Kerwin as his PA even though she is qualified to be part of the marketing team. Little does Amber know that she has made a big impact on the owner of the company where she works. Soon Amber finds herself as Kerwin's boss. There is great chemistry between Amber and Kerwin as the story unfolds. What I didn't really like was how the ending of the story was told. Many stories have an epilogue to give you a glimpse of the HEA ending. This one jumps time in an odd fashion and then has an epilogue some 20 years into the future. Not that it was bad, it just seemed that the ending was never ending. Overall a great read!

Amber is an assistant to a boss named Kerwin. He is very rude to her while she works for him. During her time there she befriends a man named Edward. He has a health scare & changes his Will because Amber was always nice to him & she was the one who called for the ambulance when he had his health scare. Once he passes most of his company actually go to her. Kerwin is now working under her. She is now the boss over him. Kerwin finally let his feelings out to Amber. He actually had feelings for since she started working there. They fall in love with one another even though he works for her. They end up married so neither one lose their job.

Good simple but original romance
Good simple romance but which is original in its initial scenario and in the narration because the first part of the story is told by the heroine Amber, then a second by Kerwin before the final parts.
The story is between an assistant, Amber, who has a hard time dealing with her boss Kerwin. She knows she deserves better, but she is not promoted and constantly undergoes this professional relationship until she becomes the boss of Kerwin by an event that no one could have foreseen. From this moment, Kerwin seems to perceive her differently.

Amber (FMC) has been Kerwin's assistant for two years and he's basically used her as a general dogsbody all of that time. That is until the tables turn and Amber turns into his boss. Only then does Kerwin seem to notice what he's been missing...........Amber. A cute and sweet story about work stopping two people from seeing each other. The two main characters are lovely and I was routing for them to get together from the start even if Kerwin was a prat for the first half of the book. Still a lovely read and I really enjoyed it too

An office romance with a rags to riches twist. Amber is a PA struggling in more ways than one to find her footing in NY and her with her job. Especially her highly attractive boss Kerwin. But when tables turn how will they each react? I love Amber's character and the growth and strength she develops. A more sweet than steamy romance (although there is a bit of steam) that leaves you with a heart warming, everything works out, HEA feeling.

This was a pleasant surprise. I quite like the unrequited love of an assistant to a real jerk of a guy, in this case Kerwin. She treated as a doormat but clearly has the brains & ability to be more. The first part is in Ambers POV, the next being that of Kerwin himself., which is good as I wondered what his feelings were.
So when their roles are reversed it's not a simple journey for them. How this came about I won't divulge.
It was nice change from the usual stories in this trope.

This book is a unique romantic comedy about Amber, a PA for two years to a a real jerk of a boss who by chance saves the life of the owner of Whitten Agency Corporation who promotes her to a high level position, and Kerwin, who has been Amber’s boss but now reports to her as his boss due to her promotion. A metamorphosis occurs to Kerwin with this change in fortune and he realizes he is attracted to Amber after all, but needs to convince her. I recommend reading this unique romantic comedy.

I like the idea of the book and enjoyed it at first.
It did not keep my attention and did not like how the storyline went. Hard to believe someone treated someone the way he did really liked her at the time.

Not entirely believable for me. Amber is personal assistant to Kerwin. After unknowingly helping the owner of the company she is surprisingly promoted and becomes Kerwin's boss. Part 2 of this book saves it for me. I found Amber quite annoying and the plot just too far fetched. Read an ARC for an honest review.

An enjoyable read! It is well written with a well-developed, consistent, and engaging story line that flows smoothly. The characters are likeable and deep with amazing chemistry between them. It is a very exciting read and comes highly recommended.

Amber is the personal assistant of Kerwin and has been for two years. He is absolutely gorgeous and acts as if she doesn't even exist unless he wants something. She is getting nowhere in the advertising agency because he won't let her sit in on meetings. Enter an old man. A surprising promotion. An inheritance. What an amazing book this was and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just the absolute best story. It had me captivated from the beginning with the hot steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!

A good, simple office romance story line. Told from two different points of view and situations that occur throughout the story make for an interesting read. Great characters that are fun to get to know and a well written story line. No spoilers here.

An incredible role reversal Office romance with a few twists. This engaging storyline had me addicted page after page. The characters were well developed, interesting, and had plenty of chemistry. I really enjoyed how things didn't go to their heads or have pride damaging, or that they we able to trust in the heart. I voluntarily read and reviewed this entertaing ARC.

This story is an interesting forbidden Office Romance with their roles reversing throughout the story. Can he convince her that he likes her for her and not her position. The characters are wonderful and have chemistry. Can they be together without losing their jobs. A story I could not put down
