Ho letto questo testo per imparare qualche parola in più dell'inglese matematico. Ma ho anche potuto confrontare il programma di un liceo inglese (fino al 3^ anno) con quello dei nostri istituti. In Italia si studia di più. Gli inglesi non studiano i radicali, il teorema di Euclide e non approfondiscono la geometria analitica. Inoltre non perdono tempo a dimostrare tutto ciò che spiegano. Tendono di più al pratico. Enfasi è data infatti all'utilizzo pratico della matematica e della statistica. Mi ha sorpreso come la geometria, nonostante manchi il giá citato Euclide, sia studiata molto inserendo anche nozioni di trigonometria (in gradi, non radianti).
Dovremmo forse perdere anche noi qualcosa in termini di completezza per dare ai giovani un po' più di senso pratico?
