Following a very substantial career in his native Britain in both silent films and talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood and became an American citizen with dual nationality in 1956, thus he also remained a British subject.

این کتاب اولین جلد از مجموعه ای تحت عنوان ( ساعت فاجعه ) است که انتشارات دبیر آن را منتشر کرده .
داستان های این مجموعه که توسط هیچکاک و نویسندگان مورد حمایت او نوشته شده اند ، خواننده را با دنیایی سیاه و دلهره آور که گاه با طنزی سیاه و مهلک عجین می باشند ، آشنا می کند و در بیشتر کشورهای جهان بارها منتشر شده اند.

حقيقتا كتاب رو تا آخر نخوندم، تقريبا ٧٠ درصدش رو خوندم، داستان هاى كوتاه نسبتا خوبى داره، تو نوشتن داستان هاى اين مجموعه از ايده هاى آشناى زيادى استفاده شده كه در ادامه اواخر داستان با يه پيچ خيلى نرم تغيير مسير مى دن و تموم مى شن ولى اونقدرها خواننده رو تحت تاثير قرار نمى دن شايد براى افرادى كه در حال نوشتن هستن و يه جاى داستانشون گير كردن بتونه يه جرقه هايى رو ايجاد كنه،
