الفرد جولز اِیِر مهم‌ترین شارح و انتشاردهنده‌ی دیدگاه‌های پوزیتیویزمِ منطقی و آراءِ حلقه‌ی وین بود. اثرِ انقلابیِ او، «زبان صدق [/ حقیقت] و منطق» کتاب چالش‌برانگیزی بود که بیش از هزار سال مدّعَیات فلسفه را «مُهمَل» می‌خواند و در پیِ فلسفه به مثابه صرف «تحلیل روشی» می‌رفت. میراثِ ایر البته بعدها کم‌اهمّیّت‌تر شد و اَمثالِ نقدهای کواین، آستین و ویتگنشتاین بر «جزم»های مفروض ایر غالب آمد. همین خوانش انتقادی از اوْ موضوع کتاب خواندنیِ رابرت مارتین قرار گرفته است که از مجموعه تک‌نگاری‌های انتشارات «وادزوِرث» ترجمه شده. ترجمه‌ی کاوه بهبهانی هم واقعاً بی‌نقص است
