Although the book was probably well written for the time (1973) and intended audience (high-school library), it is so out-of-date now that it is hardly worth the read. Absolutely try to find something more current than this.
Furthermore, speculation about what could happen is necessarily part of books like this. The fantastic and overly enthusiastic possibilities have not come to fruition so that's another disappointment.
Finally, and thankfully, the writing style is simple and straightforward enough to make the book an easy read. Ultimately, one certainly needs to read a more up-to-date text.
