I'm always reluctant to read the "idiot" books. They are something that i would rent at the library or buy heavily discounted with the expectation of picking up one or two things that isn't easily accessible via the web or help files. As a rule the "idiot" books are geared toward the novice at the lowest level and then they give you a very light introduction to advanced concepts without giving you enough knowledge to advance.
This book was a good resource. It tried to reach all audiences and it did a good job of saying if you're a novice read chapters 1-6, and if you want to know about differences particular to MS Excel 2010, skip to Chapter 12. This is my first "idiot" book that came with a cd. That is a meaningful presentation of material for computer software.
