This key textbook introduces students with no previous linguistic training to the theory and analysis of transformational grammar. It covers the most up-to-date developments, including Principles and Parameters theory, and also traces the major shifts of perspective which have influenced the development of the theory over the last forty years.
This is a great reference book on the principles and parameters of Transformational Generative Grammar. It provides insights into the principles of transformation from the Deep Structure to the Surface Structure going through explaining the phases of each step. I used this book as I was preparing for my syntax exam and it was such a great reference.
