Wonderful anthology of English Christian spiritual writers of the 18th century. The book also provides an introduction to each author, with information about his or her work. It was very interesting, particularly the extent to which the established church still maintained a great deal of control during this period. The collection includes stalwarts such as the Wesleys, Isaac Watts, and John Newton, as well as other, less well-known writers.
