Rate this book
When Malaysia celebrated 50 years of independence from colonial rule, two historic cities on the Straits of Malacca were assessed for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. For residents of, and visitors to Penang, this is a helpful survey of the city’s history and the process of preserving the magical old town. At times, I felt myself drowning in details but on the whole enjoyed the book.
