Warning: This book contains adult content, not for readers under 18 years of age.
Brooke lives in North Central Wyoming with her husband she affectionately refers to as the warden, their two wild and crazy boys, and her yellow lab, Timber. When she doesn't have her nose in a good story, Brooke enjoys spending as much time as she can outside. Walking around town, fishing, hunting, hiking, and messing around the mountains, Brooke loves the great outdoors which shows up quite a bit in her works. Brooke has been writing and telling stories since she was old enough to get someone to sit and listen to her, mainly being her best friend. She started off posting fanfictions and then decided to publish when she was on maternity leave with her youngest. A year later My Cowboy came out. Brooke doesn't just write one type of romances, but loves to explore as many as her mind can come up with. Her hobbies outside of reading are landscape photography, drawing, and just being outside where she can get dirty.
This is this Authors first published work. The Genre for this book is Romance, It borders Erotica. The writing style is simple and easy to follow. There were at times, places in the scene changes, I felt more could be added. The Author does a great job keeping your interest. Her writing is active and engaging throughout. I felt I knew the main characters Emma and Cade. There were times I wanted to shake Emma and yell at her. I was happy when they were, and cried when Emma wouldn't. Both of these characters show a lot of emotion and passion in every page.
This Author did a wonderful job with this book as her debut, and I look forward to more in the future. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good romance and doesn't mind a heated sex scene.
There were grammatical errors I felt took away from the story at times.
I really enjoyed this story. I really liked Emma. I have to say she is one of my favorite female leads. I liked her overall personality and the way she interacted with all the other characters in the book. I love books that have characters with strong relationships. Emma had an excellent relationship with her friends as well as with her family.
I also really enjoyed Cade. I loved the way Cade and Emma interacted. I thought it was a very sweet love story. It was so sweet that Cade was Emma’s crush, and even though the years passed her love for him didn’t go away. It was also nice to find out that he may have had the same feelings for her all those years as well.
Overall, a very lighthearted read and I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a sweet, down to earth romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's a light read and there's always something going on. The characters are great. Our heroine and her bestie aren't afraid to throw punches or cuss like sailors! And our hero, well he's a HOT, HOT, HOT cowboy who has been on the rodeo circuit. And boy! Do Cade and Emma make the sparks fly!
I can’t say I like cowboy books all too much. But this was still a good read. I could relate to all the characters. I love the fact that the author addresses PTSD from serving in the military. Also the author included a bonus story of Cades POV. That was interesting to read also.
I enjoyed the story in general... very descriptive in sexual content... I definitely felt like there was a bit missing in the story at times.. I will read #2
Brooke May as written a captivating read That I loved from start to finish. The characters in the story I loved reading about and the author done a great job with the writing of this story. The writing style made the story flow and enjoyed the emotions that the writer wrote into the story. This was an incredible sweet read that I definitely recommend to everyone.
There are so many things I loved about My Cowboy. I loved Emma, Libby, and Maddi's friendship, how Emma and Libby aren't afraid to throw punches, and Timber!!! Emma and Cade's story was so sweet and I highly recommend it!!!!
I absolutely loved this book. It took me longer than it should have because of that annoying thing called real life, but I finished it. It was a wonderful read. I love Emma. She's so much like me. Cade came home to heal what was broken. And he did. He managed to heal both himself and Emma. I loved the way Cade proposed. That was really sweet. Libby is what/who best friends are supposed to be. And let's face it, we've all had one Lilly enter our lives. This was really enjoyable. If you're looking for something sweet and fun, this is it. Brooke knocked this out of the park.
A great Cowboy/cowgirl romance about a second chance. Emma had a major crush on Cade when she was young, but he was several years older than her and never saw her for more than anything, but his best friends sister. When he loses his dad and gets hurt in the process he sneaks off. He's back after several years away, now Emma is older and super pissed that he's back. But it doesn't take long for their relationship to heat up. It's a really good book
What a fantastic read. This was my first book I've read written by Brooke May and I can honestly say it will not be the last. My Cowboy is such a heartfelt story. I loved Emma who I can relate to, short and sassy. I cannot wait to continue this series.
My Cowboy is a sweet romance that will keep you glued to the pages.
The story starts 10 years in the past, where we are introduced to several of the characters throughout the book. Emma, a girl with a big heart and 'doesn't take shit from no one' attitude, has been crushing on her older brother's best friend, Cade. Of course, Cade is oblivious to her affections, treating her as nothing more than a kid sister.
When a tragic accident occurs, Cade disappears, only to return 10 years later.
Emma's got a lot on her plate. Her brother suffers from PTSD from time spent at war, and her families' ranch has been struggling to stay afloat. Determined to keep everything from falling completely apart she dedicates all of her energy into restoring the ranch to its former days.
When Cade shows up out of nowhere, Emma is forced to confront more than just the grown man who stole her heart so many years ago. Feelings resurface. Sparks fly. And she must decide if losing her heart to Cade is worth the risk.
My Cowboy is a sweet, quick read that will have you laughing and crying from start to finish.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book going into it but I was happily surprised. The book opens 10 years in the past where we meet Emma and Cade, as well as their families, experiencing an awful tragedy that will affect their whole lives. Cade runs away thinking nobody cares and leaves Emma broken hearted as the love of her life has left.
Fast forward 10 years and we see Emma about to take over the family ranch. Although she has been dealing with the death of her father and her brother’s PTSD, things are going pretty smoothly that is until Cade makes a shock return and boy is he HOT!
The story follows Emma and Cade as they re-establish their friendship that looks like it will grow into something more!
This story was really gripping and I couldn't wait to get to the last page. This wasn't because I wanted it to finish at all; I just couldn’t wait to see what happened. I loved the relationship Emma had with her family and friends and also I now need my own Cade!
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to continue on with the series to find out how the story continues. A solid 4 stars from me.
How awesome is it to see a feisty, sassy, badass heroine! Emma is a star! Right from page one she isn't going to let anyone get in her way and make her feel or be anything less than she is - let alone Cade.
She hunts, runs and ranch and has a damn good time doing.
When her childhood crush, and brother's best friend Cade vanishes into thin air after the death of his father, Emma is beyond mad. She lost not only the man she had been crushing on for years but a friend she thought she'd have forever, so upon her graduation from Uni when she moves to the ranch only to find Cade in her barn looking more delicious than ever, Emma doesn't hold back.
This book was a lot of fun - Emma's attitude, Cade's playfulness and their supporting cast of crazies make this a great read for a couple of hours escape
A wonderful, heartfelt story. I loved how strong Emma was, but at the same time I wanted to wring her neck at how stubborn she was being. Her chemistry and love with Cade felt similar to my late husband's and my love. He was the strong silent type much like Cade, yet was a powerful, strong, and handsome man. There was part of the book in which I bawled my eyes out because it was so beautiful. I could tell it meant something important to the author. It felt a bit rushed in parts for me, but I truly enjoyed it.
This is the first I've read from Brooke May and let me tell you its A beautiful read, with spark, attitude, love, anger, loss, family , you have it all!! I loved the POV, I loved learning about the secondary characters I can not wait to jump in to the next book. I highly recommend you read this.
What a great book! I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end. Cade and Emma were great together. I love how sassy and strong willed Emma was! Cade had no clue what he was walking back into after being gone for years. I loved how the story kept going to show what happened..it didn't just drop off like a lot of other books! Great book Brooke! (I'm sorry I didn't read it sooner!) will definitely have to check out the rest of the books!
Brooke May has won me over with this book. Her writing is great. I loved Emma & Cade's story. I do have to say because I am such a fan of cowboys that this would be one of my favorites! This book is a very light hearted read and that is something that is refreshing. I can not wait to read more of her books!
Well written second chance story...if you are looking for angst fast moving drama... this book will not be for you...if you are wanting a fun sweet read that gives you a true evolving relationship this is a must read
This book was a good romance read. I felt that there were points in it that were predictable, but they helped keep the story flowing. Overall, it was fun to read about Emma and Cade’s romance and I can’t wait until I can read the others in the series.
My Cowboy is a great cowboy romance! I really enjoyed reading it and once I got into it, I had a hard time putting it down. There were some happy moments as well as sad. The character development is really good too. My only thing was that I had a hard time really liking Emma for a while. At the beginning of the book she was extremely angry and hot-headed, like a bit over the top with it. Once you kind of get further into the book it does get much better. And I liked her character a whole lot more. In fact, I found her character quite amusing. A woman who isn't afraid to throw a punch. In fact, the women in this book are way more scrappy than the men. It's actually something I like about the book. Cade was one sweet, hot, cowboy. The two compliment each other well. I just have some questions about what happened to other characters though. Hopefully there is another book in the series about them!
First and foremost I need to get myself in gear and find me a Cowboy. I mean seriously I couldn’t get enough of Cade and don’t get me started on Tucker and Justin. Just sigh. Note to self...google “where to find a Cowboy?” STAT!!! 🤦♀️
Now on to My Cowboy....
I am totally addicted...
I don’t even know where to really start with this story. The prologue grabbed my attention and like I said before I became addicted to the story about Emma and Cade! I could seriously go on and on but don’t want to give away too much. My Cowboy is sweet, sexy, full of angst and will leave you wanting for nothing.
I seriously loved Emma to death. Her sassy and take no crap attitude was just perfect in every way, shape and form. A total firecracker 100%!
Brooke May, 5+++ Star read. If you are looking to add another hot cowboy to your #bookboyfriend list grab a copy of My Cowboy today!!!!
Brooke May is a new to me author. My Cowboy was a sassy, sweet, sexy, and OMG...sigh type of read. A teenaged crush spans a decade. Girl loves boy; boy experiences tragedy and leaves trying to find himself. For Emma Price, running the family ranch is all she's ever wanted. Now her past barrels at her full blast! Cade Masters is back. His "monster," has grown into a beautiful woman. But, she's his "best friend's baby sister." With scenes that will make you giggle, cry, and melt your panties; My Cowboy is the total package!! Does Cade find his "reason for living, for staying, for loving?" Grab this highly recommended read and find out for yourself!
Emma has loved the boy she grew up with since she was little. But when he ran and never returned, it broke her heart. Now he’s back and better than ever, however what he did doesn’t change the fact he broke her heart.
Cade and Emma have great chemistry and are fun, hot, and sweet. The story is different then many other cowboy reads. She’s strong and independent, he’s sweet and sexy. The scandals that revolve around these characters and their supporting characters keep the story interesting without it being all about them. There’s other pieces to the story that bring everyone and everything together. The sex is hot, and there is only minimal drama but it’s enough. I’d definitely recommend this read.
Emma loved Cade since she was 5 years old. Even though he his 4 years older than her, All she wants is to be with him. Cade is a bull riding champ. He loves it and wants nothing more than to be number 1. One night after the rodeo a accident that changes Cade life forever. He runs away to live his dream. Breaking Emma's heart in the process. Will Emma ever love again? Can she learn to let her walls? So this was a new author to me, I enjoyed this story. A romance with erotica edge. It held my interest throughout. I really like Emma, she doesn't take crap from anyone. And she is super feisty. And Cade, of course he's your dream cowboy. Sweet, Sexy and rough everything you want your "man" to be. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
My book club chose this book since we hadn’t read a romance novel. Being from around the area the book is based on, I thought I would feel more connected to the story, but I didn’t. I really struggled with the characters, and didn’t feel they were believable or that they developed throughout the story. Same with the character interactions. I know romance is based on fantasies, but I feel like even fantasies have some truth to them.
The story lacks details in every area except the romantic parts, and I feel explaining even the setting would have added some beauty to the story.
Despite not enjoying this particular novel, I do plan to read another book by this author to see how she has grown as a writer! I’m hopeful that she has grown and can weave a show-stopping romance!
My Cowboy by Brooke May was such an amazing book. This was Emma and Cade’s story but there were also so many other little stories that intertwined with Emma and Cade’s as well. As I kept reading I fell in love with all the characters especially Tucker and Libby.
I loved how the author portrayed PTSD in a very real way and thoroughly expressed how Tucker was feeling through his actions. But my absolute favorite part of the book was the Libby-isms. Those added humor to the story which was full of emotions.
I cannot wait to read more by this author!
My favorite line in the book, "First vagina hugs now cumdrop."
This book is my first Cowboy book I've ever read and I have to say, I'm so glad I did! It tugged my heart strings from the very beginning and held my attention the whole way through. I love how strong Emma is, definitely refreshing! And Cade, oh Cade! He had my heart from the beginning! There's a great mixture of sadness and absolute happiness in this book. From Libby, Maddie and Tucker to the great Emma and Cade! This is a beautiful story and definitely has me loving some cowboys! A must read, you won't be disappointed!
