I want to like the story more, as I do think there is some fun to be had here, but these small slices of inconsistent size and even flow are driving me mad. The serving here is we meet a new character for two pages, get some fan service for four pages, solve a problem in two pages and then for some reason unexplained that solution didn’t work so cliffhanger? With a transition page or two between these moments and we hit the 28 pages of content.

I really do think that buying this as a completed collection will be the way to go for anyone else. Most of my issues would be - if not resolved at least not a thorn - if you could plow through 168 pages of story at once. Because this comes from a light novel I am fairly certain a lot of the pacing… struggles… come from how those generally are published (a chapter/word count target a week go) and they generally can be smoothed out by a good editor when translated to manga. I don’t think these guys are and are instead just being faithful to the original book to the point it is harming their work.

(I honestly don’t know, because if it isn’t that then they are harming their own work with their own flow/pacing issues)
