To a gentleman, a proposal of marriage is a commitment, but a lady may change her mind...

An Element of Doubt - (For Better or Worse) - (Linmore Series Book 9) - the latest episode in a character rich family saga about the interlinking lives of the gentry, working classes and wealthy industrialists in rural Shropshire, during the late Regency Georgian era (1818 - 1820).

A new mistress is coming to Linmore Hall; but only time will tell if she is of Joshua Norbery’s choosing, or whether the wishes of his family determine the outcome.

His first marriage was one of convenience, which gave him three daughters, a financial headache and another man’s son in the nursery. Honesty forces him to admit that he was not without blame but vows the next time will be different.

Can his plans, which depend on the goodwill of others, survive a misfortune that threatens the outcome? Or must he, with the help of a few and hindrance of many, seek an alternative? Who can he trust when failure is not an option?

Where can he find a paragon to make his house a comfortable home; be a kind mother for his children and on whose loyalty he can rely? If such a woman exists, does she have also interfering relatives who set impossible conditions? Or is the surrogate mother that Joshua seeks a part of his childhood memories?

Miss Maria Dinchope is facing a momentous decision. Can it be made without revealing a long-held secret, which could spoil everything she has worked for? Dare she take a risk, and what indeed, is the alternative?

Nell Walcote is at Linmore Hall, waiting to return to Middlebrook Surgery, which is not the welcoming place she left behind. People want her to stay for various reasons. Does she have a choice - and will the proposed changes in her situation be to her advantage?

Joshua does not seek approval, but he expects his wife to be received by the gentry, and for the Linmore household to accept her without question. Is that too much to ask...?

A heart-warming story of a second-chance Regency marriage, tested to the limit of survival. Can it succeed when everything seems to conspire against it?

Having enjoyed the first eight novels in The Linmore Series, I have been looking forward to Book nine, An Element of Doubt, and I loved it just as much as the previous books. The book began with a twist which I must confess I did not see coming, and I was intrigued to find out what would happen. Would Joshua Norbery find a woman to care for his four children and also be a good wife to him; and most importantly be free of interference from any family connections? Only time would tell. What too would happen to little Nell Walcote, my favourite character in all the books. Would she return from Linmore Hall to Middlebrook Surgery, or have to seek employment elsewhere? All these questions are answered in this captivating book. However, the author continues to tease her readers, leaving many questions remaining. I guess we will all have to be patient and wait for the next instalment!

An Element of Doubt by Jemima Brigges is the 9th book of a series, so right from the beginning one can tell the tale is going to be promising, otherwise, there would not be 9 books here.
Bridges is, without a doubt, a talented storyteller since she paints scenes with plenty of details. Here, she demonstrated this talent by crafting gorgeous characters and by making the novel very easy to read at lightning speed.
I really enjoyed the screenplay, the book is descriptive and, at some points, it gets highly reflective of the thoughts the characters share in their heads once in a while during late Regency Georgian.
I believe the story is mysterious and poetic at the same time, giving a resemblance to The Brontës’ tales.

An Element of Doubt: is the 9th book in the Lismore Series, adding to a notable tally, it is written by author Jemima Brigges. It is an amazing story that's so ahead of time and sucks you into a world of eye-opening realities. The author presents different outlooks, people from three functioning tiers of life, interlinking lives of the gentry, working classes, and wealthy industrialists in rural Shropshire, during the late Regency Georgian era. It's both intriguing and gripping to read about the societal dynamics in the 1820s. I have been reading this masterpiece for a while now and can't begin to enunciate its beauty and how amazed I am to read this. Loved it and would definitely recommend everyone to go for this series, good read indeed!

An Element of Doubt is book nine in the Linmore series by Jemima Brigges, and it is as fabulous as the previous eight books. You could read this book before the others and have no trouble knowing what is happening. Brigges does an excellent job of reviewing the past without it ever being boring. There is a gentleness to the story, as well as tension. You can't help but wonder when the next shoe will drop, and then are flooded with relief when the problems are resolved. All the characters are well rounded and easy to visualize. Though some evil is lurking, it is kept under control. I am eagerly awaiting book ten.

Set in the 1800s, "An Element of Doubt" written by Jemima Brigges is based on the lives of gentry, working class and wealthy industrialists in rural Shropshire. With the arrival of a new lover at Linmore Hall, everything is turned upside down. Many are interested in her, but will she make up her mind quickly?
With more than 400 pages, this book makes the reader fall in love with the characters, the culture and the historical period in which it is written. Without a doubt, the author did a great job. This is a great romantic novel to read, that's why I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I certainly recommend it!

An Element of Doubt: (For better or Worse) is the 9th and final book in the "Linmore '' series written by Jemima Brigges. It is the culmination of an exciting series about a wealthy family in the late 1810s. The addition of a new member to the family can bring happiness or discord, this situation will undoubtedly test many.
Daily life and relations between the nobility and the working classes are the main scenes of this story. The characters are so well defined that it is very easy to imagine them and become part of their emotions and experiences.
I think this series is one of those unmissable stories that perfectly combine period history with drama.
