After finding out that her time for having a baby was running out due to a genetic disorder in her family, Shay Driscoll had a decision to make. She wanted to experience motherhood but didn’t want to use an anonymous sperm donor.
Fortunately, her best friend Jeremiah Nelson said he would help, they had been friends for years, and he was the perfect candidate. He ticked all the right boxes as a partner and a father. But Shay would ignore the partner part for now because she had vowed never to get married and just focus on their baby-making project.
They both agreed that theirs would be a no strings attached arrangement, and after she had the baby, they would return to being friends. So why were they feeling differently after the baby was born?

I have LOVED every book written by Brenda Barrett, but this one is my second favorite after Darcy and Lee Wiley ( No Ordinary Love). I was constantly laughing out loud with Shay claiming to be the queen of Jermaine’s breakups.I also cried laughing when Jermaine told her that she should be proud of him having sex with several old cows! This author has easily become my top favorite. Thanks so much for the flow of well written paragraphs, beautiful love, laughter, and memories of true family.
I store in the beginning moved a little slowly. I could not seem to get invested in the characters. Then the story picked up for me and I didn't want to stop reading it. This is an excellent love story between Shay and Jeremiah. A true LOVE unconditional and unapologetic. Every woman would love to be loved the way Jeremiah loves Shay.
I have always been puzzled when people say they don't want a relationship to mess up their friendship. To me those are the best relationships.. The best of both worlds. This story illustrated that perfectly. Their love story was so pure and so obvious even the outside people who wanted them could see. I loved watching their dynamics play out!
Shay and Jeremiah friendship is remotely similar to me and my best friend of over 45 yrs, we had a sexual relationship in our early twenties. We realized we meant more to each other than sex . Our respect for each other is outstanding our families and friends just don't understand our bond. I love how the Nelson family live their life authentically.
Really enjoyed the storyline and the positive role of the men as fathers, protectors and providers. Also the encouragement to ask for help as women and receive it. Awesome.
O.M.G. This was a page turner. I was about to give up and throw in the towel. Had me with all my emotions in effect. Great book. Didn’t put it down until the end. Happy reading. No spoilers from me. Just grab a great drink and pastry and start reading!
This was a cute story. Did the other mystery in the other stories in this series come to a conclusion? I’m not sure. Now to this story…Shay frustrated me with all the back and forth. I like Jeremiah and Shay’s love for each other but Shay was exhausting to me.
I enjoyed Jeremiah and Shay's journey. It is a must read. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this series to everyone. Great writing Brenda Barrett!
I loved book 6 as much as the last 5 books. I am so glad Shay came to her senses and decided to marry Jeremiah. They were best friends then lovers and parents. Can’t wait to read more books from the author Brenda Barrett.
Loved the storyline but to many typos and mixing up character names. Jeremiah instead of Marcel. Lip instead of lap. Monroe and Munro. Still reading the Crimson Hill Series despite the typos because secrets in the plot are so good.
Good story -I’m a sucker for the best friend to love story plots. I was surprised about the premarital coupling in the story. I enjoyed countless bellyful laughs. I felt bad for Jeremiah. A seemingly perfect catch, but struggled to get the one he wanted to commit, forever. Shay was an independent woman who witnessed her parents in an unhealthy marriage. This eyewitness account scarred Shay for her own adult relationships, along with a failed engagement.
