”Hello, World!” is the first line of text every robot ever prints when first being programmed. Just like that robot entering the world for the first time, we’re here to say “Hello, Scratch!” as we enter a whole new world of programming for children. Scratch coding is a programming language specifically designed for kids and beginners to get them exploring the possibilities computer programming has to offer.
Scratch is a simple and intuitive programming language that is both easy to learn and perfect for creative projects, and is taught through a series of exercises that will help you create seven simple games in seven days.
Getting started with Scratch is not only a great way to get a taste for programming, but also the perfect stepping stone to get you or your child on the way to more complex languages like Python or Java.
Scratch Coding for Kids and Beginners will teach
the world of creative possibilities that will open up to you when you learn to program what Scratch coding is the fundamentals of Scratch coding that can then be applied to a range of other languages as you learn and grow seven exercises you can practice that will teach you skills you can transfer to your own projects and ideas
Learning programming languages is not just a great creative outlet, but can also lead down a variety of career paths for your future.
Scratch Coding for Kids and Beginners is not just for kids. Just as the title suggests, if you’re a beginner of any age, whether you’re looking to learn new skills for the workplace or express yourself creatively in a new field, these lessons are equally valuable.
I used this book to introduce my daughter, Haley, to coding. This book uses video games, art, and animation to teach kids how to code with Scratch 3.0. Overall it has 11 projects, in which kids learn various coding concepts, such as loops and if statements. Along the way, kids will meet five characters that will teach them something about coding through fun and interesting projects.
I must admit that I also enjoyed the book myself and helping Haley work through the projects and understand the concepts behind coding. I think the material in this book will help her learn more advanced coding languages and projects at Beestar in the near future. This is a good book to introduce coding to kids!
