There was a lot of useful information and I’m glad I read the book and I feel more prepared to assert myself and my boundaries in my regular day to day life. I just wish it delved more into how to handle enforcing boundaries within those special relationships with extenuating circumstances. How do you protect your well-being from a loved one who has severe mental illness and substance abuse issues when they refuse to acknowledge or respect your boundaries? How do you protect your own peace and mental health in these cases and HOW exactly (roleplaying scenario or example) do you “refuse to tolerate verbal abuse” from a minor or a family member with cognitive or mental health issues without cutting that person out of your life completely? What can you do to protect yourself if you aren’t prepared (or are unable) to do so? In all I feel the book is a good starting point but barely touches on the more complicated problems when dealing with extenuating circumstances (which are briefly mentioned in the book) when dealing with close, complicated, family dynamics. In conclusion, I’m glad I read it but wish it went deeper

While this book is great if you don't have an understanding of boundaries, it is not the best if you do have boundary building skills already.

On top of that the belief of, "I have a boundary, but you don't respect it, screw you". is what drew me away from this book.

Adding onto this, it basically says that it's okay to cut off communication with others if you're just not feeling it.. Which hello?????? NO?

This is personally not my favorite "self help" book at all, but if you struggle with the very basics of boundaries, it might be good for you.

I wish it went more in depth on workplace boundaries because I struggle with that no matter how much I try.

It was very precise and clear understanding on how to better set boundaries not just for yourself but for your surroundings without feeling guilty. You have the right to choose who you let around yourself to make you feel the best you can be.

Even has journaling opportunities so you can reflect back on what you just read on the chapter and begin to think how it effects in your life or past experiences to help learn oh shit I did this maybe i should do this instead.

Loved the book, It will defiantly be one that i will re read when if feel I need a pick me up and reminder.

I found that this book was very basic, didn’t expound upon boundaries much, and the writing style was a little too simplistic. Good beginner book if you’ve never heard of a boundary in your life.

3-- This book is a decent beginner book about boundaries. I already know the importance of boundaries, it's just actually putting them into place is something I struggle with at times. I really like how the author stated that saying 'no' is a basic boundary and it's not something we should feel guilty of. I'm a people pleaser and have trouble saying no, so this is something I'll try to keep in mind in the future. Other than that, I did not gain any extra knowledge or skills from this book.
