I think it's from the best resources to begin learning BI as first part is independent from Microsoft the writer talks about BI in general, levels of Managements, Reports types, and designing Data Marts, and LifeCycle of any BI solution.
Then talks about how to gather information and the requirements from your client, how to apply every phase using Microsoft technologies especially he concentrates on Cubes, MDX, Mining then finally talks about how to deliver your BI solution beside how can we use Excel functionalities to deliver some higher interactive reports.
I highly recommedn this book for anyone needs to start learning BI, and play with Microsoft tools.
