This is good overview of material that is necessary for exam - my comments are rather aimed at exam itself.
There are some simplifications that have reached over line of being simplifications and have become actually nonsense, for example, statement that 9-day vulnerability is something that will be fixed in 5 - 7 days. Or listing Powershell among attack methods. Or equalling FDE to Bitlocker and listing one vendor as only way to stop fileless malware... And it's not about time, as this exam version was launched November 2020, when PS and fileless malware weren't new anymore.
So if you are training for this exam I can recommend this book, however keep in mind that after passing exam you will still need to encounter real world to get the full picture.

I received the updated version of this book from a work colleague to study for the exam. He explained that I just need to read the book and ignore everything else, which I did and actually passed the exam the first time! The updated version of this book appears to have corrected the typos and made quite a few updates. It's easy to follow, and made most of the jargon of Comptia more clear. I'm super excited about passing. The exam almost makes no sense at all but this book tells you everything you need in order to pass it. I recommend this book if you actually need Sec+ for your job.

I tried for many years to pass CompTIA Security Plus, and I was not unsuccessful. The first time I took the exam CompTIA Security+: was in 2010. Many times, I got depressed and thought I would never pass it. English is not my first language, making it much harder for me to pass the exam. Even at work, they made me feel I was worth less because I did not have the certification. I spent much money on books, videos, and study guides, but nothing was effective.

The book of Ian Neil SY0-601 Certification Guide: Complete coverage of the new CompTIA Security+ (SY0-601) exam, 2nd Edition. It is the best investment I did in my life. It covers everything from the exam, and you will time learning stuff that is not part of it. It gives many real-life examples that will help you understand security plus. The book will prepare you to pass the exam and be ready for your job or get the desired position.

I do not have words to thank Ian Neil for this great tool. Make sure you get the second edition.

Sincerely

I used this book to gain my Security+ 601 certification. The book i had was the second edition that has a yellow sticker on the top left hand corner, this edition corrected typos from the original release. The book has been written in an easy to read format with great explanations and examples. The end of chapter questions are open questions so you need to know the material. It is now complimented by a free exam prep website when you can win an exam voucher monthly. www.securityplus.training
