“A tall figure stepped between two tree trunks. A shape wrapped in a cloak of rich, impenetrable blackness. The ghost raised its hands before its chest, palms curved and facing each other, as if cupping an invisible sphere. Sure enough, snug within the gap of its palms, a globe of light twisted into existence. The light was crimson, swirling and interloping with thick ribbons of black.”

A midnight assassination. Panic ripples through the castle. A desperate team assembles. The quest departs at dawn…

Solid, fun read. Will definitely pick up the sequel, Doom Quest, in the future!

What a book. A proper salt of the earth, traditional fantasy book. With a great story, fantastic characters and easy to read world building this book is everything you could ask for. M Ray Roberts has created a brilliant world with fantastic pacing and this book does not let up one bit throughout. I think the authors inspirations are clear to see and I love that about this book. My personal favourite character in this book is Griffey. He is just a real person with real problem, is how it comes across and I love that. This book has a lot of D&D style elements to it with Druids, Wizards, sorcerers etc in it and I think it’s great. With some different races such as a dragon man called Konragen, your traditional elves among other things.

Thank you for sending me this book, I’ve loved reading it. Please everyone check this out, you won’t regret it.

Roberts’ ability to craft a new world reaches new heights in Chase Quest. A gruesome beginning sets up an epic tale. Witty dialogue keeps in line with the quick pace of the book, taking you on an adventure with characters you come to love and hate.
A solid and fun read, I would recommend this book to any fantasy fan looking to find the next up-and-coming author. Keep an eye out for M. Ray Roberts, he seems to be on a Chase Quest of his own.

This book starts off leaving you on the edge of your seat and never lets up for one moment. M. Ray Roberts has created a fantasy story not soon to be forgotten. You find yourself connected to characters, lost in a mysterious world with action and adventure page after page. Whether you like the genre or not, this is a book you have to read. The authors writing and voice has reached new levels and instantly pulls you in, wanting more and more. You do not want to miss out on this epic story.

This has been quite possibly one of the most exciting reads I’ve had for a very long time and more than that, it was fun to read.
The character development is subtle, humorous and serious perfectly blended. The characters having to overcome their personal boundaries and personality traits is incredibly relatable. The adventure is wild and takes the reader through magical lands where there is danger, hope and courage.
If you want a fantasy read, this is something you must read.

A well paced fantasy story

This story gives me lord of the rings vibes with the quest aspect. This is a perfect title for those who favor epic fantasies or relatively lighthearted and PG-13 type of reads. The author put a lot of time and effort into this novel and, I think, those who read it will find it is time well spent.

Roberts has crafted a fantasy adventure that is simple yet addicting. In the spirit of Lord of the Rings, we have a group out on a quest. We don't get bogged down with excessive backstory and relentless details about the magic system. It's just pure adventure and fun.

Chase Quest was a wonderful book. The characters were well defined and developed and the scenes in the book were very close together-20 miles apart. The action of the book went fluidly from from section to the next and kept my interest very well. I enjoyed this book very much.

I absolutely adore the story of Chase Quest! Reading this book and playing Baldurs Gate 3 side by side was such a fun experience of adventure. I loved the characters, who started off as strangers and became a family who struggled with morality, bravery and loyalty.

Fun read!

Delightful reading experience that builds in complexity at a pleasing measured pace. Characters are well fleshed out with a mix of admirable and unflattering traits.

Now I can’t say that I am a real Roberts head at this was my first venture into his reading, but as a personal friend you can truly hear his voice come out and ring true in this high fantasy book. Taking concepts and ideas from such classic fair as Dungeons and Dragons and Dragonlance, he created a believable world with its own caste system and true reality. There is a specific character that came into her own near the end I was not a huge fan of, and a concept that seemed as if it could have been its own book that came about in the final section, however it was still a read that kept me intrigued and interested thru the epilogue!

Thank you @m_ray_roberts for the finished copy of your book.

Chase Quest by M. Ray Roberts is a fantasy novel. First things first: I appreciate an author that knows the importance of a cat in setting a scene. It's also super refreshing to have main characters that are well into adulthood and are not nineteen years old. This book was a classic swords and sorcery adventure, complete with pub scenes and plenty of humor. My personal favorite was the High Sorcerer that likes to wear a dark monocle and pretend to be a pirate. The pacing of this book was spot on, the story sweeps you along nicely with the mix of dialogue and action perfectly balanced.

• Forgotten Realms/D&D vibes
• Epic quest
• Classic, FUN, fantasy adventure

I'm super impressed but how well written this book is. To be completely honest, it's the best self published book I've ever read. I will definitely be picking up the sequel.

Only complaint is that I wished some of the women characters were introduced sooner, or that the women in the beginning held different roles.

Still an excellent read and highly recommend if you are looking for some light fun questing.
