Love Across Time #4

The Threads that Bind

Rate this book
When Lucy McLaren married Royden Kavanagh, she insisted on retaining her family name. The McLaren family history and their cottage in Somerset in England drew her inexorably to the past and gave it an importance that she was unable—or perhaps, unwilling— to explain.
As her daughter Beth grew older and began to question the past, Lucy's marriage floundered, and she knew the only away to save her sanity, and justify her actions to her daughter, was to go back and seek out the man she had fallen in love with many years ago.
Could she tell her daughter that her whole life had been a lie?
And will the love of her life still be there when Lucy returns to the nineteenth century?

This was another short but sweet time travel romance from the pen of Australian author Annie Seaton. In this instalment, we follow young mother Lucy McLaren, fleeing an unhappy relationship in 1989, as she unintentionally journeys through the stones to Victorian England. In 1851 she meets and falls in love with Cornish porcelain designer Thomas Adams, but must reconcile her growing feelings for him with her need to return to her 3-year-old son in the twentieth century.

The Threads that Bind is a wonderful weekend read.
Lucy McLaren was aware that family members had travelled back in time through the stones but she had no desire to do so herself. Until the day as a result of an accident she found herself thrust into the past. She knows that she can not stay and must return to her own time but her heart will always pull her between two times. How can she choose between the love of her life and her children?

This is the fourth book in a Time travel series. This book can be read as a standalone. I would say that this is a gentle love story. I love the way Annie writes and found this book such an easy read. Annie has a way of making you believe that what is in the book could very well be true. She makes me believe.

I loved it!! I've read each of the earlier books in the "Love Across Time" series and eagerly waited for this one and I wasn't disappointed. It is a beautiful love story, sensitively told, following the Time Travel theme. While it is possible to enjoy this without reading the previous 3 in the series, much more enjoyment would be gained if you had read the others, I believe.

I loved the way everything wove beautifully together so that you were given a complete picture.

Time Travel fiction isn't a favourite genre but the way Annie Seaton has woven love, magic and historical background into a time travel novel has made these 4 books quite special. There are few places on Earth more atmospheric than Glastonbury and having stood in the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey more than once and felt time slip away I can definitely imagine being transported across time from the area around Glastonbury.

Characterisation is excellent as is the wonderfully descriptive landscape of the earlier time with current time. I have no doubt this book will stay in my memory for a long time to come. It is a wonderful book.

The Threads that Bind by Annie Seaton is an enthralling and romantic 'time-travel' book set mostly in England.

It's a search for love in an era long gone and 'fairy paths' and stones that lead the way to the quest of love.

I loved hearing about Lucy shopping to fit into and act like a woman of the nineteenth century.

Picture-perfect scenes around the Cotswolds.

I really loved this story.

I am unable to give this book anything less than 5 stars! I was hooked from the first page - as I have been for all of the books in this Love Across Time series. I loved how the author wrapped everything up in the series, though I'd love to read even more if she'd want to write more. I will definitely be going back to re-read the series now that all of the installments are done and I know I will find even more to love about the stories.

The characters jump off of the pages and I get engrossed in the story. I love time-travel stories and find the way that different authors write this genre - it really gets me to thinking about the "how's that done??" and "is that even possible??" Their imagination enthralls me! Lucy's story was completely unexpected and I was totally caught off guard as I read.

Thank you Annie! I loved your story.

What a fabulous rainy Saturday afternoon read.
The threads that take someone to their destiny, finding love through time.
This story alternates from 1851 to 1989 then present day.
Lucy found herself swept back in time when she was a young woman, without any way to return for a month. In that time she found her future, could she keep it though when her past (or is that future) is pulling her home?
Once I worked my way through the first chapter, discovering the characters and storyline, I was off and couldn't put it down. It stands alone if you haven't read the others, but I'm sure your taste buds are tempted for the previous 3 by the time you finish.
Great time travel romance, I highly recommend it.

The Threads that Bind - Annie Seaton
This is such an aptly named time travel story.
Beth McLaren is holidaying in the family owned cottage in Somerset England, when she and her partner, Silas, travel back to the fifteenth century. On their return Beth’s mum, Lucy, makes a surprise visit to the cottage, with some life changing news for Beth.
After much family discussion and personal soul searching, Lucy decides to embark on her own life journey into the past. Will she find who she is looking for?
A thoroughly enjoyable novel, engrossing from start to finish.

Another incredible story from the talented Annie Seaton. “The Threads that Bind” is the fourth book in the “Love Across Time” series. It was wonderful to be back with the characters I have loved in books 1-3. Book 4 sees Lucy and Beth’s story explored further. The descriptions were so vivid, I could picture every part of the English countryside. Annie’s imagination and way she ties two world together is so clever. Thank you 😊

I have been waiting for this story to be written. I loved the first three books but this one just ties them all together to complete the cycle. The full story is told beautifully over two different timelines that fill in all the blanks and create a start and finish for the series. Annie Seaton is a master of telling tales that span time, absolutely loved it.
