I had three simple rules.
1. Try to pass my community college classes.
2. Pay my bills relatively on time. Ish.
3. Avoid the Hermanos gang AT ALL costs.
That all went to shit when my twin brother, Miguel, came home one day covered in bruises.
The Hermanos gave him 24 hours to return the money he lost them.
When they found out we didn’t have what they wanted, they took Miguel as collateral.
If I can't get the money on time, Miguel’s life will be up for grabs.

**I received a free arc copy of the complete series and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed getting to read a little bit about Sofia's past and what exactly happened with her brother. It was a good short story, that I would recommend for anyone whose read the Hybrid Chronicles or wants to. Its technically a prequel, but I don't think it really matters whether this story is read first or last.

Nice prequel addition to the Hybrid Chronicles...
I enjoyed reading Sofia's backstory. She had to overcome so many obstacles. Her character shows much growth throughout the entire series.

“Sofia” is a prequel in Shana Vernon’s The Hybrid Chronicles series.
If you have or haven’t read the trilogy it doesn’t really matter, though if you have read it you probably have always wondered what happened with Sofia and her brother before the Guild. Well now’s your chance to read it.
This was a great short story about Sofia’s past which lead to her coming to the Guild. Loved this book as it showed the protective and loyal Sofia prior to meeting Lenna and Ekon.
