This is Book 2 of AltStrings Fiddle Method for Violin (Orchestra), Second Edition.The second edition of AltStrings’ Fiddle Books 1 and 2 comes in two Original Key (for Violin only), and Orchestra! Whichever series you choose, our books offer tunes and techniques that complement and reinforce the skills students are learning in their private lessons or orchestra classes. Book 1 offers players a solid start on the instrument, and includes an introduction to the skills needed for playing chords and chopping. Book 2 continues to build on these skills, not only guiding players through progressively more difficult tunes, but also building skills in playing backup chords (applied music theory!), backup rhythms, chopping, ornamentation, and creating twin fiddle/harmony parts. Later books feature transcriptions of today's great fiddlers, and Books 1 and 2 will start you on the right track to playing like your heroes. Happy fiddling!

Great information on becoming a functional fiddler!
This book can be used in lessons or in a group of mixed stringed instruments. It gives information on chopping, ghosting and creating harmony parts to a fiddle tune. Once a student has memorized the tune and learned to apply the functional music theory, they can take part in jamming circles anywhere this music is played. With its emphasis on the G, D and A strings, violists, cellists and bassists can be part of the action too. If a fiddler wants to play in a more common key, it’s easy enough to transpose everything “over a string” to play on the D, A and E Strings. Highly recommend for learning how to fiddle, not simply play the tunes!
