The Searchers #6

Finding Unity

Rate this book
Nora Leslie has survived and thrived. She's in love, and never have she, Seok, Matisse, Ryan, Cai, and Apollo been stronger. And good thing, too, because Dr. Daniel Murray, the doctor at the heart of an experiment that led to more suffering than anyone should bear, is finally facing the consequences of his actions.

But justice doesn't come easily. With the upcoming trial bringing to light all the evil he's done, Nora's in the spotlight again.

And the sudden attention isn't on Nora alone. It brings Seok face-to-face with his own past. He'll have to make a choice. Freedom or blood. Love or loyalty. Stay or go.
But Nora has faith in him, and in all of them. Together, they are strong, and no matter what the future brings, they'll be ready.

What a great ending to a series that I have just fallen in love with. These characters and their journey just have made me such a fan. They are a family and it shows in everything they do.

Everything comes together in this final installment of The Searchers series. Nora has finally come through so much, and now she is starting to live. But there are still some things they have left to work through, but she knows that with her guys beside her there is nothing that they cannot overcome.

The guys, Seok, Matisse, Ryan, Cai and Apollo. They will stand by their girl, no matter what the choices that each one has to make. That no matter what obstacle that stands in the way, true love will always prevail.

Once again this series is just such a good read. Everything from the pace, to the characters, to the plot. Book after book you get the guys stories and watching them grow as a family unit. Finding Unity is such a satisfying ending to a wonderful series. Well done Ripley, and I cannot wait to see what you come up with next.

I really liked this series. It’s always bittersweet when it ends. Great characters, storyline and loved the ending. Loved seeing it all tie together.

Finding Unity was a well-rounded and hopeful ending to Nora and her guys' journey.

Matisse is as awkwardly charming as ever, Cai is solid and reliable, Ryan is level-headed, Apollo pulls his head out of his *ss, and Seok finally gets his time to shine. Not only do the guys each shine clearly in this series finale, but Nora also finally gets the redemption that she's deserved. Proserpina doesn't just give Nora a small bite of quiet absolution; there's a nice bit of fanfare to how she closes out the chapter of Nora's assumed guilt in the school shooting and her unfortunate participation in the college study. These aspects were really done quite well, and I loved that I could have that sigh of satisfaction, knowing that justice was done to skillfully close off those aspects of the story.

My other favorite aspect is that we still get to see a steady presence for all of the men. that's something that I've always loved about this series. Even though we get one "deep dive" into a backstory in each book, there's a great balance where we aren't left forgetting the men whose spotlight has already passed.

In the fashion of Nora and her men, there are some relationship decisions that are made a bit faster than I feel is truly realistic, but this is book six. By the time we get here, we understand how these characters work in their relationship dynamic, so that's something that I'm noting, but it didn't affect my rating of the book.

The reason this isn't a five star for me is that I felt like the closure to Seok's story and personal journey was a bit rushed, and I wished the end had a bit of extension to it. Unfortunately for Seok, he's the focus of the last book, so even though we've seen development in books 1-5 in how he interacts with Nora and comes to love her and their unconventional relationship, he's the only one who didn't get a little extra time to really smoothly close out his personal/family life. Finding Unity is about Seok, but it's also about Apollo in some ways, so he actually winds up sharing the spotlight. There's also a big decision in this book that I wish we'd gotten to see play out on page instead of knowing it's coming but not getting to go along for that adventure with Nora and the guys.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed Finding Unity as well as the series in general. The Searchers is one of those series that I sometimes forget about in all the whirl of seemingly hundreds of RH novels that are published every day, but it's a favorite contemporary series of mine that feels like a cozy hug when it flashes to the front of my mind and I dig into a re-read.

Finding Unity is the final book in the Searchers series. It's bittersweet b/c we have come to love these characters through this journey. We've watched them as they've broken apart, healed and grown stronger through it all. It's hard to say goodbye but everything has to end at some point. Now we get to set them off in their happy ever after.

Each of the books have always had more of a focus on a certain guy and this book would be for Seok. We get to learn about his past, where he came from, why he's chosen the path he has and most importantly, what his future holds. He has a lot of responsibility hanging above his head and the choice he has to make will bring drastic changes in his life. Dragging up his past also means reliving his dealings with the press. With Dr. Murray going to trial, the press is rallying up again to talk to Nora. This brings up not only Seok's past with the press and how damaging they can be but others in the group as well.

While we do finally get to learn about Seok, this book isn't all about him. It was well balanced to give us an ending that didn't leave anyone out. Kudos to Ripley for accomplishing that. We get to go through normal, everyday, boring things with the group and just see how they interact as a whole. We see so much growth in all of these characters. We get a few different POV so that was nice as well. It would have been hard for me to imagine ending the series with just Nora and Seok's POV. And of course we also get some sexy times. Through this whole series the sexy times have been more low key romance than hot and heavy dirty which is a breath of fresh air sometimes. I've said before, sometimes I find myself skipping over sex scenes b/c it's just too much and I'm like whatever. But when they are on the sweeter side like these I can't skip them.

So overall, I really enjoyed this last book in the series. I'm going to miss these characters but I'm happy with how everything wrapped up. Can't wait to see what Ripley introduces us to next.

Nora Leslie survived tragedy. She survived the court of public opinion. She survived a madman. Now it's time to get beyond surviving and start living. Dr. Daniel Murray is facing his own trials. Nora is in love with Seok, Matisse, Ryan, Cai, and Apollo. But there are still battles left to face. Nora's story is once again in the news bringing her a degree of unwanted notoriety. Seok's father has called him home so he has a decision to make, his new family, or his birth family. But Nora's not worried. She understands exactly what they have created together and how strong they are. Love, rare and true, and forever.

What a rewarding conclusion to one of my favorite set of characters in any RH. I fell in love with these characters because of their effortless originality. They have such depth, such diversity, and such freshness. Each backstory is 100% developed and compelling. They each have a brilliance. Each has a connection to the others on a personal level and on a group level. It's an intricate web. There are struggles but it never feels forced or contrived. It is an uncommon trait in RH to find a book where the relationships are as natural as this one. In this final book, each guy gets to shine. Their strengths, weaknesses, and quirks are on full display. Honestly, my favorite guy changed every single scene depending on which guy was in it. And Nora truly "finds" herself. She accepts who she is and not only is she comfortable with who she is but she likes herself, is proud of the woman she is. This is a hard-earned victory. I love that I have been on this journey alongside her. I don't want to give any spoilers away but I couldn't be more pleased with how the guys handled their future with Nora individually and as a group. The dinner with Mr. Jheon was PERFECT. I couldn't decide if I should cheer, giggle or swoon but then why choose? I will miss these characters but I am thrilled with how they said goodbye.

I find it comforting to read a new release and I already know the characters like they are family. That is one of Ripley's gifts, writing very rich human characters that are friends that I eagerly come back to with each new book over the years as a series unfolds. It's bittersweet when a series reaches its natural conclusion as each member has their book to find their unique place the family. Finding Unity is Seok's book and the wrap up of the family story.

Honestly, Seok has not been my favorite character over the series due in large part to his secretive nature. His unfortunate family history helped me see him in a new light. He seemed to be the family glue before Nora came into the group. I've always enjoyed his architectural preservation and basement woodworking and him opening up and sharing that outlet with Nora made me like him more. It was rewarding to see how proud and supportive all of the guys and Nora are of his work.

It's wonderful to get time with all the guys as they go about their daily lives in their hive like family. Nora gets some good press and community support, which is long overdue. It opens her up to get back to work and really make good decisions for her future after her long convalescence.

The guys are cute and a bit comical in their proposals. I would have enjoyed being in the room for the big discussion, or however that happened. I felt very satisfied with their collective idea for joining their family. I will re-read this series for pleasure and ponder about how their family grows.

It was so surreal to read the final book in this series I began over three years ago! I always found this series a very comforting read (except when I was stressed about certain things going on in their lives). It has always seemed to be the most realistic reverse harem (RH) I have ever read, which can be a very positive or a negative depending on my mood when reading (only because sometimes you want to escape to something so not realistic/over the top. For this final book it was most certainly a positive. With everything going in the real world right now I found it very nice to read about a group of friends who created their own family when the ones they were born into failed them. The love they all have for Nora and her them is very sweet and beautiful. It was very satisfying for them to get their HEA after all the troubles they faced in their young lives.

SPOILER ALERT:

For those that this kind of thing matters to sex scenes are 1:1 throughout the entire series, and romantic rather than hot (to me, anyway). This isn't a negative to me, as I like romance books of all types when it comes to sex scenes, but I know some people have strict requirements for this kind of thing when reading, especially RH, so this note is for them. :-)

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I have been dying for Seok's story this whole time and now we finally get it. Things have been going great for Nora and her guys but the boat is about to rock them all. Dr. Murray is finally going to trial like he deserves but that just puts them all in the spotlight all over again whether they want to be there or not. Well of course this has to cause trouble for Seok making it necessary for him to deal with issues just like all the other guys had to. This book had everything I have been waiting for while still wrapping up the whole series quite nicely. I have enjoyed the journey of this group and am sad to see them go. Totally worth the time to read though. I highly recommend it to fans of contemporary reverse harem romances. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

In this series conclusion, the press once again wants to put Nora in the spotlight. They want an interview since Dr. Murray is finally being investigated. Her lawyer Eric Bismarck pulled a fast one and all of them are blind-sided.

This book also centers around Seok and Nora. He has to deal with some issues he'd rather avoid. He is so very in love with Nora but his family would never approve of their relationship. He's being very closed about everything and Nora wants the answers.

Nora starts back to work, there is public reaction to her interview, Seok finally talks to her, and so many revelations and surprises. There is plenty of sizzle, laughter, tears and so much more that had me turning the pages.

The perfect conclusion to this series. Thank you, Ripley for this journey.

It’s so hard reading the last book in a series. It’s like watching g your kids grow up and leave the nest. Through the first five books, you fall in love with these characters, and this book is no different. Except now we get to see more of Seok. Who is carrying a lot on his shoulders. It in tru Nora fashion, she handles it with ease. And let’s not forget what got them together in the first place Reid and Dr. Murray. Everything comes full circle in this book and in typical Ripley fashion it’s perfection. I’m gonna miss these characters, even though I’m secretly hoping there’s a bonus epilogue or something.

This is another powerful entry in this enticing reverse harem romance series. I'm really enjoying the balance between emotion and drama that is playing out as the storyline continues to unfold and the characters relationship's evolve and are tested. Not every reverse harem story has a lot of depth to it. I'm happy to say that is not the case with these books. The characters are compelling, the world is well developed and the plot will keep you engaged. This is my candid review that I am freely electing to post.

This is the final book in the Searchers series. This is one of my favorite series and the one that got me hooked on Proserpina :) Nora and her guys are preparing for the trial. We learn more about Soek’s background and family, which provides some tension, but overall Nora and the guys are happy together. I loved seeing them learning to blend their lives and seeing how they support each other. This was a terrific ending to their story.

this was a very fittingly cliche end—i can't even say i'm disappointed (though i kind of am) because it's so in-line with the direction this series was taking.

cringy marriage proposals? check! the bad guy is miraculously locked away even though that storyline has taken the back burner for the past three novels? check!

overall, 3 stars is the perfect rating for this series as a whole. it wasn't awful, but i definitely wouldn't read it again.

Wonderful

This was really good and I loved the further foray in Seok bc let’s be honest here he’s my favorite. The best part was seeing how Nora and the guys are doing and the little everyday stuff. I am very pleased with this addition to the series and honestly think the just getting better with each successive book! Well done!

Justice is served!

After all the pain and suffering, Nora has lived through she finally gets a respite. She is in a great place with her guys and Seok opens up about his family life. Dr. Murray's psychological methods or experiments are being questioned by all. I thought it was a great ending to a very hectic beginning of the series.
