Endorsements “The first question we ask when reading Scripture should not be, What can the Bible do for me? The better question is, What does the Bible teach me about God? Knowing God is the key to spiritual progress, and Joel Beeke and Brian Cosby have written a masterful book designed to help us grow. Whether for personal devotion or group Bible study, None Else will prove an outstanding introduction to the character of God. For some, this book will be revolutionary—releasing them from the cycle of self-centered obsession to God-glorifying worship.” — Derek W. H. Thomas, Robert Strong Professor of Systematic and Pastoral Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta, and senior minister, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina “In None Else, Joel Beeke and Brian Cosby offer the disciple of the Lord an opportunity to practice what too many believers have meditation on the character of God. Leading us through God’s attributes with careful biblical exegesis combined with experienced pastoral sensitivities, the authors employ a fivefold method of unfolding the biblical and practical beauty of the Lord in His self-revealed attributes. The end result is a devotional journey into a daily life of meditation on God Himself that leaves the reader transformed by the glory of the Lord. Take and read! Take and meditate! Your mind and heart will be the better for it!” — Michael A.

This is an excellent month-long devotional on the character and attributes of God from Joel Beeke and Brian Cosby. Joel Beeke never disappoints and the folks at Reformation Heritage Books always produce good material. It reminds me of the Puritan Stephen Charnock's "Existence and Attributes of God".

This is a 31 day devotional which covers a different attribute of God: 'God is Holy", "God is Creator", "God is Sovereign", etc. Each day has a scripture meditation, followed by a prayer, a short essay on a biblical perspective which expounds on the attribute for the day, reflection questions, and a section on "Digging Deeper" which explores the attribute in much more depth. This is NOT a quick devotional as found in "Our Daily Bread" or Charles Stanley's "In Touch".

I found that each day took me no less than 20-30 minutes, which lead me to rearranging my devotional schedule. This has been incredibly rewarding; and as I persevered each day, I found myself looking forward to the time spent in the Word. It takes a bit of discipline and self-control to stick to this because of the length, but since we are called to always be in the Word as a means of grace, this is time well-spent.

This book has been so helpful in going through a revolution and violence that flooded my country. Settling in knowing God's character has been refreshing. I am thankful for this kind of devotional. I strongly believe that learning who God is helps us to be sanctified.

It took me awhile to make my way through this book though it was supposed to be a one-month devotional. I am simply not a fast reader, particularly when the subject matter is so deep and meaningful. Lots of highlighting and note-taking in this one!

I liked the devotional aspect of it, while not going light on the theology.

A wonderful encouraging devotional. Although I would have preferred it to not be in the King James and to not have listened to it on audio to make looking up the verses easier.

Wonderful small volume. Each of the 31 meditations covers a key BIble verse or passage, a prayer, analysis of an attribute of God, questions to ponder, and suggested further reading. I loved looking forward to reading the next day's meditation. The authors are very knowledgeable of the scriptures and theology.

This is my first finish of the year and what a great start of books read in 2024! Filling my mind with the attributes of God ; being reminded of who God is and not what or who I think He is in my human mind . I taught the attributes of God for 19 yrs to 1st graders and I have missed intentionally meditating on God everyday. Dr.. Beeke and Mr Cosby have done an outstanding job of relaying Biblical truth with a masterful use of language -" we do not " discover" God , He reveals Himself to us." "We do not "give" God glory, we acknowledge His glory. It may be viewed as semantics but theological vocabulary is important. Have we become sloppy in our words about God? Charles Spurgeon said," The attributes of God are the anchors to hold the soul from drifting in seasons of peril." This little 31 day devotional was just what this weary soul needed to end 2023 and begin 2024. I am determined to keep something concerning God's attributes in my stack this year .
