Read on your PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet or Kindle device. Welcome to the exciting world of Programming! I am so glad that you picked up this book.
Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought that I would be writing a book about programming. I majored in Electrical Engineering and soon after graduation, joined a company that specialized in power and energy systems. I was earning a good pay and living a comfortable life till the recession of 2008 struck and I along with many others in my team lost their jobs. I was determined to find another job as fast as I could to support my family but while going over the job applications, I came to a shocking realization. The number of Programming or computer related positions available far outweighed any other engineering category.
I realized that I was at an inflection point in my career. I could either choose to be comfortable and keep looking for an electrical engineering position similar to the one I had previously or I could step into the unknown and try to learn a new skill.
Looking back, I have no idea what gave me the courage to learn programming at that stage in my life but whatever it was, I couldn’t be any happier today.
I do not know what your goals are but I can guarantee you this – if you are committed and are willing to put in the effort, you can achieve anything.
My programming journey started by learning to program in Python. Python is a vastly popular language in the academic circles where it is used in data analytics, computing, and bioinformatics. It was used to build popular sites such as Google, Instagram, Pinterest, BitTorrent and Dropbox. It is a living and growing language that will continue to be relevant in the coming years.
Python programming is the use of the Python language to create computer programs that are capable of performing a wide variety of tasks. Some example applications basic computer housekeeping tasks, website backend automation or CMS systems, systems integration, artificial intelligence/machine learning and robotics/machine automation through single board computer programming like the Raspberry Pi.
Python can wrap itself around just about any computing task you can throw at it. With a vast jungle of programming languages available today, why should you choose Python?
