This humorous twist on the perennially popular Q & A format takes a sideways look at all that is super and strange about life in the oceans. Quirkily illustrated characters and playful text reveal the amazing answers. Find out who has picnics on the seabed, how long it takes to make an island, and why a dolphin is more like a hippo than a herring.
A background in science, education and journalism has been the perfect foundation for author Camilla de la Bedoyere. She studied zoology and geology at Bristol University, and has subsequently written or edited more than 200 books for children and adults, many of which aim to explain and explore the natural world and our relationship with it.
This book is an amazing way to introduce kids to new animals. The traditional arrangement of questions and answers looks at all that is unique about ocean life. Beautifully created characters and humorous language disclose the surprising answers. This is definitely a readout loud book. I would suggest open to all ages, if I have to pick one it would be 3rd graders. A new way to learn about our creatures of the ocean, I sure did.
