I would recommend this book to people who have experience with another programming language or who have basic JavaScript knowledge and want to take it to a more intermediate level. I would definitely recommend having basic HTML/CSS knowledge before starting this book, since that will really bring everything together.
If you're brand new to programming, this book doesn't really talk about good habits to develop, general programming tips/tricks, nor have the extra detail you need when learning basic concepts/terminology. After you've learned how to start programming elsewhere, come back here to learn how to make JavaScript useful to you.
